WARRIORS are no fools in April!

Lily: Glad you got your 10miler in!!!:cool1: Sorry to hear your dealing with the other stuff though.:sad2: Try to keep up the spirits!!

Marcia: Deep Tissue massage - OH YEAH BABY!!! I get one a month and while I am there it is torture, but a good toture if you know what I mean. The next day I am usually sore also, but it does a body good!!

And as Marcia has so kindly reminded us....especially as the spring and summer months are coming along. We need to be sure while we are exercising to Hydrate well, you should drink before your thristy and eat before your hungry. Please take care of yourselves everyone!! Also I am going to remind you all to be wearing a good uva/uba sunscreen!! Check the back of the bottle and make sure it hasn't expired. Not sure if you all know this or not but Sunscreen can go bad if you leave the bottle sitting out alot in the sun. A dermatologist told me this, so if you take the bottle out with you on picnics/ lake outtings or the beach he suggested putting it in the cooler or tucked away inside a good bag or something.

Have a great Sunday Warriors!

Roxy and Amy good luck to both of you. Hope the events go really well.

Jeff yay for happy legs! you just need to get your heart song sorted and we can feature you in Happy Feet 2 :)

Lily you're a star for pushing through 10 miles in obvious discomfort. As you advise all of us tho, please be careful. Hip/ankle/back soreness sounds rubbish.

Marcia i've always thought that physio's enjoy shouting at you and causing immense pain. Altho have to admit i feel bad for how worn out mine is after a deep tissue massage! Great work getting 6 miles done in the aftermath of soreness!

Tracy meant to say congrats on your promotion! Man the threats are going to increase aren't they? At least you can't get me with a wet noodle from there! Really happy to read your back/shoulder area's not so bad- running along the beach sounds great too.

AFM-
My last long run before taper time. 21.33miles- 3hours 23 mins of bouncing bottle belt. Think my bottles has extra suicidal tendencies they kept leaping out. Memo to me- don't overfil bottles! I was doing ok til knee pain 18m ish- stopped to stretch at 20.... will NEVER do that again. Right leg totally locked- took a good while to get anything like a normal looking run back together. 20 mins of stetching to try to get it back afterwards- now lots of ice. Just have to mentally prepare for the hills in boston and then i'm good to go!

I mean all my threats in the most gently, loving, kindly and caring way!! :lovestruc:love::grouphug:That is why I use a wet noodle, can't do much damage with that (and it doesn't leave tell tale marks on the skin).:lmao::rotfl: Now, GET OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING PEOPLE!! :rotfl2:

Racey Tracy, holder of the wet noodle!

Yo ho WISHers.

Got out for my long slow run today. 13 miles, estimated 1:58. My Garmin battery died around mile 10, so just have to guess on my time. :lmao:

Off to Girl Scouts, astronomy day at University of Hawaii.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

The mixer starts here...

Variety is the spice of life, so they say. (But don't ask me who they are, although I suspect they work for McCormick. :confused3) With that in mind, this week's mixer question is:

What types of XT do you like to do, and why? What are your old favorites and new discoveries? What kind of XT would you like to try?

Anecdotes and pictures are welcomed. I think we'd really like to hear about the benefits of your XT--physical, mental, social. Does it create a stronger core or more flexibility? Does it help you de-stress? Is it something you enjoy with your kids, partner, friends? It might also be helpful to know how you work XT within your walking/running schedule.

Extra points for XT activities that are unusual or have funny names or rituals. As determined by popular vote. And in case you're wondering, those points have no monetary value whatsoever. (I'll make up other disclaimers as I think of them.)

Quick driveby-

Did 5.5 miles on Saturday (penance for the Fried Oreos, which were fabulous).

Kate- I don't know if you listen to the Phedippidations podcast, but Steve Runner's latest one is all about the Boston course. I listened to part of it and thought of you.

Jen in GA

Happy Tuesday Warriors....

I was able to wake up to make it to the gym this morning. I got 1 mile in on the treadmill, then went to a class that someone in the spin class recommended. It's only 10am here and I can barely lift my arms! Wow what a workout...no wonder they only have it one day a week in the morning!

I'm going to have to start going to class on a regular basis...boy do I feel out of shape!

Tracy - I hope the back is better! Nothing the Chiro can't take care of I hope.

Hoosmi - Never had a fried oreo, but it does sound yummy! I've seen them make it on the Food Channel...but then again, I guess anything deep fried is good.:thumbsup2

jen, thank you that highlighting that podcast! I've been watching them/listening and it's fab! Really, thank you so much!

just 30 mins exercise for me tonight- after physio stretching out ITbands i figured it'd be better to let them stay bouncy for an extra day!

Hi Warriors!

Got in my 9.5 mile run on Sunday despite the fact that I was in Calgary for wedding dress fittings and it was about -8 out. At least the sun was shining, and there were more runners out than I would have expected. No knee problems, which in encouraging.

The sun is shining in Seattle, for once, so I dumped my regular Monday (indoor) bike crosstraining for a walk with the dog in sandals and capris. We're back to constant rain tomorrow, so it'll be nice to get in a short (3.5 mile) run with the dog after work, while it still feels like spring. It's so hard to sit here at my desk while it's so nice out, knowing that we probably won't see sun again until July! :rotfl:

All night and day travel. I've arrived at Augusta, GA for Wednesday's practice round and par 3 tournament at the Masters. 4,000+ miles, and going to be sooooooo worth it!

A bit chilly this afternoon when I got here, and had a short snow flurry in Atlanta as I was driving out of the rental car agency.

Stood at the gate at Magnolia Lane. Guard was way cool, and took my picture for me, since I was by myself.

Gary Player and Luke Donald drove out the gate while I was standing there. Gave them a shaka, and they waved back.

Saw John Daly selling his wares (not qualified for the tournament).

Hey Everyone! It's mixer time!!!!!

We are having a mixer! Jack has once again shown up with an idea. Tomorrow we ALL want to know what your very favorite movie is. I don't mean just a movie you like! I mean the ONE movie that you would choose to have on a deserted island. Just you and the movie!!!

And as long as we are talking movies, what goes better with a movie than the perfect snack??? Tell us about your movie snack. Maybe you do something that is just so kewl that the rest of us need to try it too!!!!

So, choose your movies well!! You are stuck with 'em until you are rescued!!!!

Hi Warriors, snowing here all day. Ugh.

Jeff, glad you made it there ok. Sorry it's so cold for you. I do hope you get to have a great time!

Marcia, that sounds like some w/o if your arms are hurting. Not sure I'd be able to do something like that and then try to work afterwards. You rock!

Tracy, thanks for being such a great supporter for us. I appreciate it.

Sarah, it will be wet there until July? That is depressing to me. Oh no! That must mean I need to have rainwear for the Seattle Half then. More stuff to pack. (I'm thinking poncho running)

:rotfl: I wouldn't worry about it; most people around here run in the same clothing, rain or shine. Rain in Seattle isn't the same as rain in most parts of the country.... it's more of a constant light drizzle that can go on for weeks. Not enough to really get wet, just enough to get everything damp. Real proper drenching rain is a bit of an oddity here, though.

Seattle actually has less total accumulation than a lot of places in the continent, it's just that the number of rainy days is extremely high.

Just make sure you have a good quality sweat-wicking shirt (cotton is an even bigger no-no here) and you should be fine, and feel nice and dry.

Hey Kids!!

I've been kind of absent this month so far. I spent most of last week in Dayton, Ohio for the WinterGuard International World Championships (My DD was competing, as was the Guard that my DW sponsors). Weather was somewhat sketchy at times, along with big time commitments, but I managed 1 4.9 miler up there.

After spending saturday night camped out in the Dayton airport (boy was THAT fun), and not much sleep for a while I was just too pooped to run until today. I got in a nice, kinda' slow 6.5 miles in 62:35.

Additionally I did 1:15 of P90X workouts this evening.

I think I am FINALLY getting back into the swing after a lousy couple of months.

Going to try to bike & run in the morning.

You guys all ROCK!!

 Hey Jim's back!!! :cool1:

I did winterguard for my last year in High School, it was a blast!!! I know some people that were up there also.

Glad to hear that you are feeling back in the swing of things!!!

I am out after work today to head to the dump with some new trail shoes I got yesterday!! Will let you all know how it goes.

Have a great Thurday everyone!

Tracy
