WARRIORS are no fools in April!

Happy Friday Warriors!

Because I haven't posted this week, I first have to say...
GREAT JOB KATE!
I am so happy for you!

Jeff - I hope you are feeling better! It's no fun being sick...

Did a speed pyramid at the track on Tuesday night and I am still hurting today! What's up with that???

Double miles for me this weekend though...Run Rocklin 5k!

We've had crazy weather here...97 on Monday...woke up to the pouring rain this morning! Oh well...race weather on Sunday should be a surprise! ;)

Have a great weekend Warriors!
Have a great race Lily!:cheer2:

Mr Jeff how are you feeling? Here I was thinking people don't get colds in Hawaii. You ruined that one! :rotfl:

Michelle thanks! pyramid on the track and crazy weather sounds like a great combination! Hope Run Rocklin 5km is great for you.

Lily lots of luck for your adventure too. Can't wait to hear all about it.

I went for my first run yesterday- 2.1 miles in 18mins. Very odd feeling, nothing really flowed at all! Little time stretching afterwards too.

OK advice time- any idea on what to run in terms of maintenance miles between training? (i've been looking at flights to WDW in Jan :rolleyes1)

Lily: So how did the CM Half Marathon go?

Kate: Already looking for another Full Marathon - WDW perhaps?? That would be fun!!

AFM: I did my March Of Dimes walk this morning. Nice event and glad to do it for my friend and coworker! It was supposed to be 6 miles, but according to the Garmi it was 5 miles. I am sticking with Garmi when posting my miles. Having a bit of a sore throat/allergy/tickly cough thingy. Not feeling bad or anything so I don't think Jeff spread his cold all the way over here.:rotfl:

Have a great weekend Warriors!!

Tracy ~ I used to walk march of dimes every year... way to go! that's always a fun event.

I had to work today...our City event was Earth Day today. I was on my feet for about 7 hours. I was running out the door today and forgot chapstick & sunscreen...my face and lips are screaming at me right now! I was running late and just ran out the door, because I had to begin setting up at 8am. What a mistake...ugggg my face is on fire!

Marcia: UGH!! Sorry to hear that. Hoping you have some aloe. Take care of that and hope you feel better soon.

Tracy

Hey WISHer's.

Thanks for all the get well wishes.

So far not so good. 9 days of this nagging cold now. Lingering cough, but now it's a dry hack. I'm sure I coughed up at least a gallon of nasty green pea soupy stuff. Not to mention blowing out at least two gallons of nasal discharge (SNOT in layperson's terms).

We're told to drink lots of fluids. Man, seems like every 10 minutes I was off to the bathroom to pee it all out.

I haven't laced up the shoes, but at least my little owies seem to have healed up. Skipping my second long slow run tomorrow.

I will take Princess #1 down to the ocean for a swim. Her and I both have triathlons coming up. At least being in the ocean will hopefully clear out the rest of my sinuses.

Yeah, gross post, I know.

Jeff: ummmm, thanks for sharing?:confused3 Just a bit more than I think I needed to know.
Hope all goes well and I hope the ocean cures your ailments!

Tracy: Good for you, for doing the March of Dimes event! Those kinds of charity events are always a blast!

Marcia: ACK! I'm totally feeling sympathy sunburn pain for you, right now, just hearing about it! Moving to Seattle has been the best thing I've ever done for my skin; I have a mild case of Photomorphous Light Eruption (aka the sun allergy that is only annoying and not drastically life-changing) which means that SPF 50 is a daily reality for me in the spring and summer, unless I want to be a giant itchy rash!

Jeff: Yes, that was too much information. Hope you're feeling better soon!

I hadn't run at all this week, since the 5K last Sunday (see: food poisoning), so I had a feeling that going out for the Joints in Motion group run yesterday was not going to be a fantastic idea. The run was 9 miles, and I knew the course pretty well, but I started out in a group that was running at about 8:00, but died after the first two miles! The group leader caught up to me in the 4th mile and I ran the rest of the course with him, but his running style was not at all compatible with mine. I'm more of a plodder - I run at a steady 11:00 and can keep it up for a long time. He is more of a "sprint, then rest" style of runner, and that really burned me out by the end. But it was nice to have some company while running and I really enjoyed running a new route that I never would have done on my own. Also, I ran the 9 miles in 1:36, which is really fast for me, and that felt really good. Unfortunately, there are not many runners who come on the long runs, and the rest of the group just did the 6 mile walk. Oh well, everyone seems really nice and I think I'll keep doing the group runs for the social interaction, even if I am stiff the next day! :lmao:

Hi Warriors! I did the Run Rocklin 5k this morning.

Did not have high hopes at all going into this one. We did a 20 mile bike ride yesterday. My legs were killing me just getting out of bed! My running coach asked me what my goal was for the race. My answer..."To finish." He laughed. I wasn't joking. After a nice warm up to get the legs to stop complaining, we started the race. 35:30 later, I finished. A 3 minute PR for me!!! Maybe I should do a 20 mile bike ride before all my races!:lmao:

Tracy and Jeff - Hope you both start feeling better soon! If Jeff gets better after today, maybe you should jump in the ocean Tracy! ;) And Jeff...please do not post pictures! Reading your post was gross enough!

Great job on your 9 miles Sarah! We've only been doing short distances lately and I am kind of missing the long slow run.

Marcia - If you got burned...you actually had sun in the bay area??? :cool1: Too bad about the burn, but at least you had a nice day!

Well...here we go, starting a new week...
Get out there and get movin' Warriors!!!:thumbsup2

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

I've been thinking about how to create a hot topic for this week's mixer question. Turns out, the weather cooperated with me. :lmao:

Many areas of the country experienced above average temperatures this weekend, which made many of our weekend distances uncomfortable. (I was thinking especially of how the weather affected the racers at CMM, particularly our very special WISHers). So this week's mixer topic, which starts here on the 'Ohana thread:

What are your training/racing/recovery tips and strategies for hot-weather conditions?

Feel free to tell us how you alter your routines: when you go out, what gear you use or what you wear, how you hydrate and fuel differently, how to recognize danger signs, how you keep cool and/or recover from overheating, and when you decide to shorten/quit/take it inside.

As we all know, going out in the heat can be dangerous, so please help all of us by sharing your knowledge. :thumbsup2

Hi Folks!!
I'm really sorry I have been MIA for so long..... but I officially have my life back now! So I can get back to being on here a lot more. So to celebrate (and I hope noone minds) I thought I would show you what took my life over for the past month- so here it is: Urinetown- the Musical!!

Can't wait to get back in action with the Warriors again!!!

Katarina those pictures look amazing and so professional. Here i was thinking it was a small production! Very impressed! It's lovely to have you back too.

Michelle a 3minute PB!!!! That's brilliant, especially after a 20 mile bike ride. Wow- what a great time.

Sarah 9miles in 1hr 36? You were on fire! You did so well particularly with the differences in running styles.

I popped to the gym last night and did 6.1 miles on the TM, 56mins and stretchy time. We had a hilarious moment when the power went off and an entire row of runners bashed into the front of their machines, he he he. Was only off for 5 mins or so but it felt forever!

Hello Warriors!!! :wave2:

It's getting down to the end of the month, how is everyone?? How are you doing with getting out there and getting some time and miles in. Its Spring for some and Summer for others (like me!) Hard to get out there in the heat huh?
Please remember to stay hydrated, use some sunscreen, use Lip balm with sunscreen, and don't forget to use your GLIDE as when your sweating more you will need it more!!
Let's keep at it and cheer each other on!!! Anyone having any events coming up? I have the Breast Cancer Network Walk on Mother's Day.

Have a great Monday Everyone.

Racey Tracy (freckles)

Hey guys!

Its been a few days, but LTO has happened too much in the recent past. I did about 7.4 in 70 minutes today while out geocaching.

Been working on the P90X, but once again, scheduling difficulties has been an ongoing problem.

Morning Warriors!

Jeff - You are not helping!!! Good thing I have a group run tomorrow...otherwise I'd probably be standing in line at BR!! :thumbsup2

Katarina - Welcome back!

Kate - I can't believe you are already doing 6 mile runs again! You didn't waste any time did you? And thanks for the great visual...I laughed out loud at the thought of all the treadmill runners hit the front of their machines!:lmao:

Tracy - You are always so good with the encouragement! Thank you very much! As far as events go...May is going to be crazy for me! I will have a race on Sunday but not sure which one yet...the running group has not decided on the local 5k or the local 5 miler. I then have a race on 5/16 and 5/25 for sure. Then, there are two other races that I would really like to do, but I don't think time and finances will allow. Besides...that would just be too much for one month!!!

I made it to the gym last night. 1/2 mile swim. I was finally able to develop some sort of rhythm...which is never easy for me in the pool. Hitting the track tonight for a speed workout. Later Warriors!

Way to go Warriors. I'm glad to see some of you are getting in the reps and miles.

I'm going to swim this afternoon in the Pacific Ocean, and hopefully clear out the sinuses again. Then, likely do a short bike ride, and then run some.

Have a great day everybody.

hey hey. Made it back to running club for the first time in weeks! We did 6.25 miles in 58mins and it felt ok! We did warm up, then an 15min run out with challenge to get back in 13 followed by cool. I like those runs, feels different doing it with a group.

Keep it up guys it's nearly the end of the month, we're nearly there!!!
