Many folks who use Nutrisystem probably know that they have a policy which allows them to make substitutions whenever they are running low on something you ordered. What you may not be aware of, and I found out the hard way this week, is that if they make substitutions they still charge you for what you ordered, rather than what they delivered. In my case, I was delivered about $85 worth of food and charged about $125.

I've informed the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office, and suggest anyone who notices the same thing also report them. I first tried to make a complaint with Nutrisystem, about that, and about the fact that they don't give their customers a choice whether or not to have substitutions, but couldn't find anyone there willing to take my complaint officially.

Just an update on this.

Nutrisystem claimed that they were going to send replacement product, but there is still no indication of a replacement shipment on their website. I have now seen the charge reach my DISCOVER bill, and so if I don't see replacement product by next Wednesday, I'll refuse the charge.

The box of "wrong stuff" they sent is still sitting in my kitchen... I'm not sure how much longer I'm willing to store it for them. They have provided no indications that they want the stuff back; I haven't received any UPS call tag information from them or anything else that would allow me to send it back at their expense.

Also, I haven't heard back from the PA Attorney General's office about the deceptive practices complaint (but I probably won't -- they probably will just back in touch with me if the need more information, and they probably won't because I was very detailed).

I'm not using Nutrisystem, but I have to agree that their policy is ludicrous! I wonder how many people got substitutions not realizing they were of a lesser value. I hope you get a satisfactory resolution.

I've always disliked NutriSystem simply because of the high sodium content in their food :scared: . And now this charming food delivery policy...

agnes!
