Warning for those using I95 South next weekend thru MD/DC/VA

Any hints/suggestions from those of you who have been to Virginia Beach, we have 3 boys (ages 12 and twins 9yrs), what's interesting for the family to do ?

Does anyone have any ideas about how I would get to the Autotrain in Lorton on Sat 8/13, in light of this construction? Comming south from NJ.

I would take 95 as you planned as there is no alternatives to Lorton but I would leave 2 hours earlier than planned. Better early then miss the train.

Langin: I've only been on part of US 58, but the parts I've been on are divided. Some of it is limited access like an interstate, but some isn't.

Credit Man: You could take the beltway around DC in the opposite direction. Instead of going clockwise, go counterclockwise. DC folks, would this work? What are conditions (traffic & construction) along this route?

Renysmom, you are getting into a quiet, low-traffic area, aren't you? Of course, I'm sure heavy traffic in Richmond is low traffic compared to DC.

I think this a good idea. I live on the opposite side of the beltway from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and would highly recommend going this way. It is approximately 30 minutes from 95 and the beltway in Maryland to 95 and the beltway in Virginia.

We were going to detour all the way around but if we are passing through at 3:00 am on Monday night (really Tuesday morning), how do you think all this mess will be?
