Anyway, I loved the movie. The funny thing is everyone keeps talking about the actual audio clip that is in the movie, but no one has mentioned Barbosa's qoute. Barbosa says the line from the ride speil just before you go down the waterfall hill "...There be rough waters ahead...etc", then they go over the waterfall in the movie and the actual ride audio kicks in... Hubby smacked me and started laughing when Barbosa started the whole thing.
I noticed, and I absolutely loved it! It was way cool!

I was like, hey, it's the drop from the ride!
Tia Dalma (Calypso) being Davey's lady was evident in POTC II. She had the identical heart with claws pendant/music box that Davey also owned.
Also, in POTC II, Bootstrap gave Will his dagger. Will held it up and promised his father that he would would use it to stab the heart of Davey Jones. (not those exact words)
Here's my question: **Color changed in case you do not want the spoiler - highlight to view**
When Jack Sparrow used Will's hand to stab the heart of Davey Jones in POTC III, why didn't the script call for him to use that dagger? True, Bootstrap used it after Will's death to replace Davey's heart, but I think the consistency of the storyline would have been nice.
Other thoughts?
Yep, I noticed the DJ/TD connection in DMC.

As to your spoiler question, I think since Jack had the broken sword in his hand, it was the most logical choice to use that, and the easiest to access.
I think that he knew about the pirate lords and the pieces of eight and knew that once they started singing, that meant that they would all be summoned to come together. And then later when Barbossa told Sao Feng that the pirate lords need to come together he threw him the coin and it was almost as if he was listening to it and Barbossa said, "The song has been sung."
That's how I saw it, though I don't know how Beckett knew of this?
At one point, Sao Feng referred to Elizabeth as Calypso. It made me think that throughout the movie that she would replace Tia Dalma as Calypso and that Will would replace Davey Jones.
Also, DH and I have a disagreement. How did Elizabeth's father die? DH says Lord Cutler had him killed. I said that Lord Cutler showed him the contents of the chest with Davy Jones' heart and asked him to stab it, and by doing so sealed his own fate. I do remember seeing Elizabeth's father looking at the contents of the chest.
Well, I never thought she would replace Calypso; she's not the goddess type, but perhaps she is the Calypso to Will's Davy Jones, the one he loves so much that if she rejected him he wouldn't be able to live with the pain.
It was my understanding that Lord Beckett did have Governor Swann killed, because Governor Swann knew about the heart and was planning to stab it to be rid of Davy Jones.... Don't know if I understood it right or not.
Very cool that Will was stabbed with the very sword he crafted for Governor Swann to present to Norrington in POTC1.
The fact that Ragetti's fake eye was Barbossa's piece of eight/nine is really funny; so much happened to that fake eye..fork in it...chasing it on the deck...who knew it was so important.
Loved the "colors" of Jack's flag at the end with the red sparrow on it and the Jack adornments on the skull.
My sister noticed that the face on the music box necklace is also carved into the inside of the Flying Dutchman (shown near the end when Will is talking to his father on the deck).
I think the scene with Elizabeth trying to get her father on the ship was so heart wrenching; she did a great acting job.
I liked the way it ended...I cannot complain.
Poor Norrington..may he rest in peace.
I can go on and on...but I won't...I want to see it again and again!!!!
Same on all counts!
I didn't think about that...WHY didn't I think about that...

He might have learned the song from her. Since she sung it growing up herself.
I just assumed she stayed on the island for ten years...but she is the Pirate King now...so guess that couldn't be possible??? Who knows...
There has been speculation that all three of these movies have been Elizabeth telling young Will about his father.
Maybe those of you who know more about some of this can help my DH and I. When Beckett stated in POTC2 "we've both made our mark on each other" talking about Jack and the "P" burned on his wrist...and it is eluded to in POTC3; what mark did Jack leave on him? Did we miss it? They seem to have a longer history than is explained. Anyone have any ideas? Info? Not that this is vitally important, but we are curious none the less.
Waiting to see POTC3 again
Hope it beats Spidey 3!!!!
That was the one thing I was so looking forward to finding out, and after two viewings I still can't find any reference to any mark left on Beckett by Jack.
I enjoyed the complicity of this movie! It made me think and keep track. This movie was by far the best of the three. It had enough special effects without overdoing it, it had just the right amount of action, and it left room open for another story concerning the "Fountain of Youth". I was so pleased with this movie! I was hearing so many bad reviews about it that I was getting depressed, I was so happy that it turned out so brilliant! The music was amazing and the story ending was perfect.
I agree completely! I don't get why people want a simple plot? A complex plot is so much more rewarding. I get the shivers whenever I listen to the soundtrack for this film, especially the track titled "What Shall We Die For" which was played over Elizabeth's rallying speech after the parlay.
Putting it into greater perspective, most movies are unrealistic.
- Being bit by a spider will not give you spidey powers.
- Being born with an X-gene will not allow you to conjure a storm, regenerate or attract metal.
- Kissing a beast will not make him a prince.
- Sleeping on a pea under a stack of mattresses will not give you a bad night's sleep.
- There is no kryptonite that will allow you to fly and make you strong.
- There are no such thing as Ogres.
- There is no such thing as the perfect man.
- There is no school of magic where you survive a curse learn to cast spells from an old man.
You get my point....
Movies are fantasy - that is why we go see them and love them.
MTE! My family always wants reality when they go to movies, I'm like WTH??

They're always like "this could never happen", "what's with that, it's impossible". I'm like DUH, it's FANTASY. It's not SUPPOSED to be realistic!
Another question....if Elizabeth is to be king pirate lord, wouldn't she have to be at sea? And if she is Singapore's pirate lord than wouldn't she have to reside in Singapore? Or did her titles get dropped?
I so need to go see this movie again. I have a feeling they have been answered already.
I have no idea. I didn't see any references to this at all.
I have to say one of my favorite scenes was when Will got stabbed...I hated that he got killed, but I
LOVED Captain Jack's reaction! I love Capt. Jack for many reasons, but his reaction to Will's death put me over the top for him. Did you see his face when he and Elizabeth were "parachuting" away from Will and the ship? He looked positively heartbroken.
Does anyone know....what was the thinking/reason of putting that last scene with Elizabeth and her son on the island at the VERY end? I can see not putting it just at the end of the movie, but at the
very end of the credits? I almost couldn't see it because there were 3 usher guys in front of us sweeping and cleaning up the seats and aisles! I bet they hate all of us sitting in there til the very very end!
The first time I saw the movie, it took me until just before the battle was over for me to finally be able to feel my hands and breathe normally after Will was killed. It was so unexpected for me. And just the fact that Jack finally did the right, unselfish thing like I always knew he could, it just makes me love that scene.
As for why they put the end scene at the end... Who knows? So that everyone would be confused if they didn't see it?
