has anyone done this and would it be worthwhile to fit into our trip in August? I am travelling with dh, 15yo ds' and 9yo ds'.
We have 4/5 days in LA, 4/5 days in SD and 3/4 days for DL.

We did this one back in 2003 when my kids were 8 and 10. We really enjoyed it. Saw a couple of stars, the Friends and Gilmore Girls sets. You see lots of backstage stuff and prop warehouse etc. It was very interesting.

Thanks,
Do you know how far out you can/need to book the tours? Right now the dates online only seem to go until June. We would need August.

We did this tour last June and really enjoyed it. We didn't see any stars, since most shows were not filming at the time. It was still a lot of fun and I'd like to do it again. The tours run all day long and I don't think they fill up that far in advance. We booked ours about 2 weeks prior and had no trouble getting the time slot we wanted.

We did all the Hollywood studio tours last summer. Although we enjoyed the tour we found it very scripted, plus there were so many tours going on at the same time. They are very diligent about when you can take pictures, half an hour of the tour is spent in a museum looking at costumes (you are not allowed to take a camera in there either.) The best part of the tour for me was going to Central Perk as I am a huge Friends fan.

Our favourite tour we took was the Paramount one. There were far fewer people on this tour, there was only 6 of us on the tour and we were the only tour that morning. It was a lot less scripted and the guide let us take pictures where ever we wanted to. We were allowed off the carts and to wonder round a lot more. We got to go inside a studio where they were filming an episode of Everybody hates Chris, we stood with the director as they did a few takes and we watched what was going on on the monitors. We also went into the studio next door where they had more of the set and we were allowed to take pictures where ever we wanted to. We also went into the post production room of Entertainment Tonight where the presenter was recording some links for that evenings show. We chatted to him for a while, he explained how all the consoles worked and he posed for pictures with us. We also got ot walk around lots of the outdoor sets, through the doors into the flat buildings etc.

I really want to do this tour this summer. My friend is a huge fan of the gilmore girls series, has anyone been recently...do you know if they still include this set on the tour?:flower3:

I did the warner brother studio tour a couple weeks ago and I thought it was great! Our tour guide knew TONS of info about different WB shows and movies. Before we started our tour he asked us what our favorite show was and he said he would revolve our tour aronud our favorite shows. I said my favorite show was Pushing Daisies (RIP) and he pointed out many sets they used for the show.
We saw different houses used for Gilmore Girls, so if you are a fan, you would love this tour.
On our tour we actually saw the LAST EPISODE of ER being taped! It was a closed set but we could see different stage guys getting equipment ready. Some big fans of ER on our tour started to get choked up.
Any Friends fan would also love this tour because we went on the Central Perk stage and got to sit on the couch and take pictures!
If anyone has any further questions about the tour, you can just pm me! I would be glad to try and answer your questions!

The WB studio store is also great for merch from shows like Gossip Girl, ER, ANTM, Ellen.

Really?? When I went last summer, we weren't even allowed to touch anything on the Friends set. We were allowed to stand in front of it to take pictures, but had to be careful to not step on the rug!!!

You're lucky, when we went in 2003, we were only allowed in the audience area. Not on the set at all. Probably because they were still filming at the time.

That's probably correct. The set is no longer on a sound stage. Its in a separate building - props, I think. They have Central Perk setup in a small room just for the tour.

The website for the tours states children 8 and over can go on the tour.

Thanks for all the info!! Now if I could just find decent flights life would be good and I could get everything else booked!!
