Off to NYC this morning! Please pray for good weather and no no problems for me!:thumbsup2

Have a great trip. :thumbsup2 You may have a bumpy flight today due to all of the storms we're having in the upper midwest that's headed east. After that, the weather looks great.

First day we've had rain in a long time. It's to rain and storm most of the day. Have a feeling I'll be slow at WM today. :sad2:

Do you think it's ok to have bangs not covered? The only way I can wear a baseball cap is to put my hair in a pony tail and have it stick out the opening in back.

A rep might be visiting the store on the Chex (according to an email I received) so I'm wanting to do things right.

Your bangs should be fine. Hair that's shoulder length is to be in a ponytail so you're fine there also. The "rep visiting the store" seems to be in all recent emails. Just be prepared at all events and you'll be fine.

Bouffant under hat is not weird. Its what I do & what the Walmart employees do. Once I put the hat on on top of the bouffant, I just tuck any extra bouffant up into the hat.

No one came to see me as far as I could tell. I left my bangs out too, but didn't wear the hat because it didn't say to on the instructions - I think my head is too big Splash lol - once I put my hair in the bouffant, I couldn't get the hat over it.

Went well, but I had a lot of retired people and nearly all of them said they didn't eat cereal. One weird thing is that the Chex script says it's a good source of fiber, and there's hardly any fiber in it!

Smucker's Uncrustables and Sorrento Provolone String Cheese and the Sutton Steaks for new dates is popping up.

Tax question/just a thought.

If you "travel" to an event (i.e. I live in GA but might take an event in FL/SC/AL) would your "reasonable expenses" such as gas, one night hotel, etc be considered a business expense?

I plan on asking my tax person but was wondering if anyone knew the answer right off....

I believe the answer is no, but for people working for other companies similar to this it could be yes, because they are conducting business as an independent contractor or a sole proprietor. MC reports income taxes and you are an actual employee.

edit:

This would be the publication to look at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p463.pdf

Thanks LanaJae--that's what i thought--we are not really independent contractors because MC issues tax (W2) forms to us. Justwishful thinking.

For those of you who worry about showing up at the wrong store, it happened yesterday with a young lady from The Sunflower Group. About 3:15 this young lady, very trim, nicely dressed with black skirt and polo, and nice smile told me she was doing a “mobile” demo for Clorox and wanted to know if I could help her with the box contraption she needed to wear around her neck. We both decided the contraption wasn’t doable and it was best for her to just carry the product and brochures. The box rested on your chest and when you put the Clorox bottle in it's spot, the box tipped forward. And she was somewhat small chested so that wasn't the problem. Anyways, a few minutes later, she comes back by and asks if I saw someone else come in. I said “I saw someone walk by with a card table, but didn’t know where they went“. She proceeds to tell me somebody has set up a table with the exact same product, and they are not at the table for her to talk to and there must be something wrong. :confused3 I asked if possibly she was doing a mobile event and the other person had a stationary? She said “no” the directions specifically said to be mobile. I said “maybe somebody is at the wrong store”. She pulls out her paperwork and sure enough she’s at the wrong store. She couldn’t believe she was at the wrong store. She was suppose to be at a small (not super) WM on the same road 5-6 miles north of where we were. Then she proceeds to tell me she works at Kohls, a five minute walk away, and her purse with cell phone and agency info is there in her locker since WM wouldn’t let her store her purse in Customer Service. I felt so bad for her.:sad1:

The poor thing. That's always one of my fears. When I get in the car, I even check my paperwork ONE MORE TIME before I leave. :rotfl:

It would be a nightmare if you were audited anyway because it would be hard to prove that you had to travel, they would expect you to show that there wasn't any work in your home tax location and that you couldn't do any other type of work.

We have friends who rent property near WDW, so they can go check on it once a year and write that off. They only rent to Disney CMs, and part of the rental agreement is a 4-day park hopper for 4 too.

Yikes - poor thing! I hope people pick up on that you can't bring a purse - I have a teenie baggalini and it's enough to hold money, mints, cellphone, etc. and can be worn like a fanny-pack.

I had someone from Sunflower at my store yesterday and their tables are weird. It's like a pedestal with a top, didn't seem stable to me. The lady asked me who I worked for and I told her and then she said, no I want to know the agency from here and I said there isn't one, it's all out of California and my staffing mgr. covers a good portion of the midwest and the east coast and she said no, where is your agency here? I gave up. I don't know jack about any of how this works on that end of it.

Anybody else doing the Snack Factory Pretzel event at WM tomorrow? I don't think the 6 bags will last 5 hours. :confused3 I searched for them on the internet and find they come in 6 oz. bags, not 8 oz. Based upon 2 pretzels per napkin, the 2 bags of Original will come to 66, 2 bags of Everything is 54 and 2 bags of Honey Mustard is 80 bringing the total servings to 200. I don't think I'll put many samples out on my table at a time for people to just grab. The WM I'm going tomorrow is the one where the WM employees like to get their lunch at my table.

Flat Earth Chips at Target tomorrow. Last time there were 13 bags total (of the less than popular flavors) when I arrived. So I only bought a few & handed out 1 chip per person instead of 3-4 chips like instructed. Sold out in that first hour & just sampled & gave coupons after that.

I hope tomorrow goes better than that. Its pretty typical though of my events at Target. Never enough product. But hey, setting up where people pass you on the way OUT of the store is sure a good way to not sell out early. :sad2:

They seriously need to overall the "rules" & program for Target demos. One set of rules does NOT work for every store.

Has anyone received kits yet for off-date cereal events (Cheerios, Chex, Nature Valley)? I can still run them without kits, but just wondering. Thanks.

Was trying to print out my event instructions & store report. It kept saying not available???? I scrolled over and saw it was "Unbooked by you" @ 10 this morning. I wasn't home to unbook it?? Do i call the help desk in the AM? This event is 45 min away and I dont want to waste my time.
This was going to be my first event:sad2:
