Good luck to everybody doing an event today.

Noticed on the back page of today's Target ad, there was a picture of the Enviga Tea and a blurb for free samples today in the Food Ave. at select locations.

Oh great. After reading over the script, I'm actually kind of surprised they can claim it "gently increases calorie burning". You have to drink 3 cans per day to burn 60-100 calories. ???? :lmao: Today should be FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not. Good luck.

Well, woke up to a bunch of snow. Plowed streets but the storm is STILL going. Side streets are not completely plowed.. watching cars and trucks slide around to get to main road.
I have a little Toyota with bad tires.. nope.. we are not going out there.
Visibility is down and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Called and told TMT it was a no-go. She had no qualms about it.. asked me to call the store's LOD to inform of cancel, call in to report results as "Event did not run due to bad weather" and mail form.

I didn't ask if I would get paid or not. At this point I don't really care.

If I do get paid I will post (need to wait three weeks), it's these little odd things they don't tell you that makes this thread such a gem! :)

So glad I didn't book anything for today. We had a weird storm yesterday, ice then snow then ice and snow. Now it's raining only to freeze and change to all snow. I'm sore from shoveling that wet snow.

I'm home... they only had about 9 six pack total I bought one of each, sold out of everything at around 3:40... No way I was staying til 5 to 'promote' it was snowing like crazy & really started to accumulate... roads were really bad on the way home....

BTW I have NO HEAT in my house... it was acting funky yesterday so I called my heating company (thank God I have a service contract)... not only is my outside Heat pump unit broken but my Emergency heat is also broken... He tried for a couple of hours to rig it up for us until tomorrow when he can get parts but it was a no go.. we are now heating the house with our oven... I can see the electric bill this month!

Well I went to Target and got some more of the $1 chips after coupon and was kinda looking forward to trying the enviga but no such thing, we stayed till 1:30 but no one showed up. I wonder if that person ever did or not. oh well, that was my stalking for the day so thought id let you guys know...hahahah

Forgot to mention... while looking for my Enviga kit they found my Altoid kit from last week...

OK, I have spent way too much time reading this thread. I am SO interested but have 4 small kids - do you all have kids? How do you work around them on the weekdays? Are all of the hours 11-4 or are there any that are earlier or later?

Is anyone doing this sort of full-time? Is it worth it?

Wow this weekend has been interesting. From the crazy Neutrogena demo to the missing kit Enviga. I am glad that I have 6 days to recover.

Dont you just love when the MOD act as if you are the scum beneath his shoe and he has no time to deal with you. After his nonhelp help I just grabbed the stuff off of the shelf, got some ice from the food avenue and just set up! Sold a whole whopping 5 cases. Most people were like the stuff was too expensive. I tell you between the funky cosmetic demo and skirting around this whatever Enviga is my little ego was bruised!!

Got a call from SPI asking me at 1:22 why was I not clocked in, Umm could it be because you keep sending the kits to the store and the Nerd A%% manager dont give a hoot about finding them:rotfl2:

Funny... I got a call around 1:15 saying I hadn't activated my card. Not only had I activated it, I'd already made my purchase?!

Enviga went better than I expected, but I had pretty low expectations for this one. :rotfl: They didn't seem to know I was coming, no surprise there. No product chilled for me. At first they thought they didn't have my kit, but while I was buying product from the shelf, they found my kit. (They also had last wks Altoid kit from when I was sick.) They were really nice about everything though. They got me a tub/large bucket & they filled it with ice so I could chill some cans near me. (I didn't need my tiny cooler I brought.) AND they put the extra cans in the Food Ave "open" cooler where customers grab salads & sandwiches from...so I just put my "hold for demo" sign on them. No one touched them -- and it was really easy for me to get to them as I needed them.

I set up in Food Ave as told --- as you EXIT the store. About 1/2 way thru demo, asst store mgr standing near me & hears a customer tell me it would make more sense if I was set up on the way INTO the store. (Ummm, YES, I know. I've tried to tell that to Target HOW MANY TIMES NOW? ) Well, low & behold, the manager says that does make more sense....and they move me. :rotfl2: I had about 6 cups on the table, but we were careful. But we spilled one. So the LEAD & I look at each other, & start doing SHOTS WITH ENVIGA to use up the remaining cups on the table. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: NOT A GOOD IDEA. I thought I was going to barf. :rotfl: :scared:

I bought 10 pks to sample. Used 6 of them. There were 41 pks to sell, I sold 15 of them. I had taped the $1 coupon to the packs. BUT, it wasn't until I was DONE, that I realized the coupons said $1 off Enviga when you ALSO buy a Diet Coke product. :rolleyes1 :lmao: OOOOOPS! :rotfl: I wonder how many went thru the registers. lol

I wanted to scream everytime someone referred to it as soda or an energy drink. :confused3 ALSO, amazed at # of people who will grab a cup & THEN ask what it is...then decide they don't want it. OR the people who put empty cups back on the table. :confused3 I must of had STUPID people today....because both of these were firsts for me.

I have no kids. I'm 42. I'm available everyday. But most demos are on weekends. There are occasionally weekday events, but not alot. Most events are 11-4 or 1-5. I've got one coming up that is 8-1, but that's because its a grand opening. Not full time my any means. I'm only able to get about 6-7 events per month in my area. I do pass up some jobs -- like make-up. Summer slows right down & so did Christmas time. It really varies from week to week & month to month. Also, the events go to the person who books it first. So you need to check the site several times a day if you are in a competitive area. It doesn't appear I have much (or any) competition in my area.

Also, some people work for more than one demo company...just so they can get more work. But word on the street is that MC (Mass Connections) pays the best.

And occasionally, an event might require to have have (bring) a microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven, or a cooler. You get paid extra for SOME of those items. Some of us bought CHEAP small microwaves just so we could do those events too. The work has more than paid for the microwave. Other than that, really no out of pocket expense needed. Just black shoes & black pants & a white button down collared shirt needed. You'll spend money on paper & ink for your printer. And envelopes & stamps to mail in your forms.

Also, you'll spend time before each event packing / preparing & learning script. And after event, calling in results & copying forms & mailing them.

I am only doing this part time. I have 1 son. If you have little ones you definitely need a good support system and reliable. You will be wiped out after the demos 5 hours on your feet is not easy and then to go home to cook and take care of them  I'm not trying to discourage just trying to give you a realistic view. Demoing can be fun.

Had a happy customer today! He told me I had the best Target job because everyone who came to me was happy to see free food!:rotfl:
I told him I thought I had the best job, too.
I did the Archer Farms Mini Burritos. Only sold 2 packages. Everyone seemed to like them, but I think $5 for 6 mini burritos kept some from buying. Others checked out fat or sodium content and decided not to buy. But most were pleasantly surprised at how good they were.
The demo manager at this location is great. He always writes something nice on our store report forms, and is very helpful, and checks on us a couple of times during the event to see if we need anything more. Great guy!
Wish I could get more events there.

If you look at my siggy line I have 4 small kids and I have been with SPI since June '06. It can be done. I limit myself to only weekends, I take off 1 weekend a month and I only do 2 off date demos amonth. At first it was hard on my hubby but it has made us more of a team. He has bonded with the kids and taking more responsibility for them. I enjoy working for Mass(well except for this weekend) and my family does not suffer. I am for them all week long and I do not miss school events or important function but come April when we are in Disney thanks to MS and Mass Connection, we will know that it has been the right choice for our family,

Not to mention I have managed to get my kitchen redone as well as almost pay off 2 credit cards:yay:

I did the burritos as well. People really liked them, but I think they would have sold better at a $3.99 price point. Nobody asked about the fat or calories, surprisingly. I suppose if one is eating a burrito, they aren't expecting health food. :)

I didn't sell any until the last half hour, and one woman bought 3 and another bought 1. So that was good! I wasn't expecting to sell any.

We do have to have sanitizing water for our stations now - but the demo guy gets those for us when he is there (I am glad we have him, he's GREAT!)

Well my friendly, helpful Target manager of two weeks wasn’t exactly that today. :sad2: I called the store Friday, at their request, to remind them of the product to be chilled. I’d also left the sheet listing the product we’d need to buy. Well, only 1 12pk. of each variety was chilled. I went and retrieved the other 7 packs, from the shelf, to chill while I was using the 3. She seemed a bit miffed at me for having to find a place to chill the 7 new boxes. I’m thinking - Look lady, I went over this with Employee X last week in person and again on the phone Friday. It’s not my fault she can’t read or follow directions. Besides, you should have been notified I was coming and been prepared.:confused3

Overall, once set up, the event went very smooth. :) Most people had not heard of the product and wanted to try it. Most liked it. There were 52 packs on the shelf when I started and 41 when I left. Sales were not generated by my sampling event as I was on the way out of the store. I though $5.50 a 6pk. was expensive. The coupon was only good if you purchased Enviga & Diet Coke, plus it expired 3/31. So unless you were also a Diet Coke drinker, not much incentive to purchase because of coupon.

Did anyone else get the referral cards in their Enviga kits? Sorry folks, I didn’t put mine out. It’s difficult enough to get jobs around here without adding more competition.:Pinkbounc

Splash - I too didn’t see much calorie benefit after drinking 3 cans. At least your store seemed cooperative in dealing with the unchilled product.

dodukes - I’m disappointed your “competition” was missing. I was looking forward to hearing how they performed.

dragonfly - Hope you heat gets fixed soon. I was told Friday, when I called to remind about chilling my Eviga, that they found my Altoids kit Monday. Do you think they would have cared if I told them they cost me a half day pay for not finding it Sunday?:rolleyes1

I received referral cards in my Enviga kit too. But I forgot to mention, I had emailed SPI a few weeks ago & asked for cards. I got them in the mail maybe last week....and had written my referral # on the back. I had the cards with me, but, NO, I don't think we are supposed to put them out. Only hand out if asked.....IF you want to. ;)

I had sent away for them so I could hand them out at my furthest stores that I hope to be able to give up once these 2 new stores open in March (& maybe April).

I did enviga Sunday, It went pretty good. I had no problems using the coupons just for the drinks... They already had the coupons on them so when I checked out I used them to buy the product, since they were already there. I sold 19 of them, really tried to sell 20, but didn't happen.... It was I hate it or I love it drink.. No in between... Since I was at a ST I guess they didn't get a kit..... Couldn't find one.... Some parents let their kids have some but others were like no way, that is for adults only.... I had to restock the green tea myself, they were in the back along with a roll of coupons... I told everyone they sale ended Sat. so a few people bought 2 packs....
All in All it was a good day, pretty quick, Hope you all have a great week!!
wendy
