Walt's Warriors are HOT in August!

Hi there,

I'm joining as I love the motivation everybody brings to the Disney Running events! This year will be my 1st RFTT and 2010 I'll be going Goofy. I ran the Mickey in January.

I look forward to trading post and training info with everyone.

Have a nice ... day!

-James

I always posted in green. Now I'm finally on the green team!!!

Hey james!

Sounds to me like you've got lots of motivation and fab training tips yourself! I'm always very impresed by Goofy runners :rotfl: You're a crazy.... and amazing bunch of people- it's wonderful to have you on our team! You'll fit right in :goodvibes

Ahhh it's going to be so lovely meeting all of you in Jan- not sure if i mentioned it but I BOOKED MY MARATHON HOTEL!!!!! (not at all excited :rotfl2:) We're staying at POFQ again, mainly to keep DMum happy, but i love it there too.

Ok off to get ready for a running lesson now.

Hey Brandie and James! You both sound super busy!

I fell off the running wagon big time in July, although it wasn't all my fault. ;) Put me down for 40 miles and about 10 hours.

My excuses: First my boys' sitter went out of town for a week, so I had them at the office and was totally frazzled. Then we drove to Tennessee for a week and dropped Emma off at camp in Northern Alabama. Finally, the baby and I drove back to Alabama to pick her up, and then home again (375 miles each way). She had a great time and I made her tell me all about it for the entire day it took to get her home! :rolleyes1

The positive side: so I've run 18 miles this week, which is not as many as I wanted, but I'm pleased because it's almost half of last month!

Hope to get back to regular posting...:rolleyes1 (I bought new shoes to inspire me again- I may need a running shoe intervention soon, but I doubt I'm talking to the right people!)

You're talking to exactly the right people, you must at ALL times be aware of shiny new running shoe developments and if at ANY stage you're not feeling motivated it is your duty to get out and find some new shoes. However perilous and challenging that journey maybe- we'll be right behind you (buying our own pretty shoes :rotfl: )

went for my running lesson with no idea what we were set up to do- turned out to be a speed pyramid. I've never done one and it was hard work, but i know having someone encouraging with me was exactly what i needed. Bit sore now-6 miles in total, but 2.2 miles of that was fast effort! He's mean!

How's everyone else doing?

I'm glad to be on here.
As far as advice, I've got tons of it. I can design a training plan from the floor up ... But then I'll go out and do some crazy stuff on my own! I've been training troops for a long time, so I'm good at figuring out answers.
I officially started train-up for the fall racing season in May. I do a "Goofy" weekend every 4th week; which means that I flip a long run and a half-the-distance-recovery/easy run. Or I'll do an endurance weekend, where I mix up a bunch of different run workouts into a short time period. Did I mention I have an ultra on my schedule this year. What am I thinking!:rotfl2:
Household6 is currently starting up on her training. She is up to 6 miles right now. She is still holding out hoping that a few more slots will open up in the HM, but she is preparing to do the full if nothing opens up.
I keep trying to get her to go Goofy with me!

I knocked out 177 miles in July; 3 races ... in 2 days! :scared1:

Happy Running!

James, please check your PM inbox here on the DIS (upper right corner contains a link called "your notifications." That contains a link to your inbox.) You were placed with the Buzzies as a team, but have been posting on the Warriors thread instead. :confused3

Hey WISHers.

I got out for the usual 8 1/4, 1:13. Strong tradewinds made for a tougher workout.

Have a great Aloha Friday.

Sorry Warriors, I have been off for a few days. I will get all the July mile and times updated this weekend.

Been gettin out and doing my miles as usual but with no jogging. so far no pain in the right shin. I have my last day of Physical Torture, I mean therapy, today and then a check in with the doctor on Tuesday.

I start my official Half Marathon training next week for the Spacecoast Half in November!! yay!!

James, although I would like to have you here, I think you were placed with the Buzzies (Chris's team). People are placed on teams according to the needs of the teams. We try to keep the numbers fair for everyone. Please contact Debra if you have any questions I think she has PM'd you. Enjoy the WISH and come by and visit anytime.
I think the teams are getting so big again that they may open another new team?? not sure. Just right now there are 20 Warriors to keep track of.

Have a good TGIF everyone!!!

Tracy

Sarah: Congrats on the Wedding!!!! I can't wait to see the photos!! hurry and post them.

Jen: I love getting new shoes and you have reminded me that I need to look into getting a new pair soon.

Katarina: My bad, yes you did give me June's numbers. Sometimes my brain isn't working all the way all the time.

OK, after getting all the numbers together... here are the Warriors that I am missing times and minutes for as of this moment...
Erika
Roxy
and Ken.
Not sure if everyone has updated all there times and miles on the spreadsheet, if you don't see your correct totals on the first post of this thread please help me out and let me know.

Shin is doing better and I am allowed to do a bit (and I mean a bit) of joggin now. I did some miles on my bike today instead of walking. Tomorrow I hope to do 5 miles or maybe 6.
I start "official" half marathon training next week for the Spacecoast Half Marathon.

Have a good weekend Warriors!!

*****EVERYONE - please check out the threads, then RaceReady WISH shirt orders are starting to be taken, This is THE shirt order of the year for the WISH team!! *******

Tracy

Hi Warriors! It is quite a tropical here today so I'm thinking indorr w/o is in order. Ugh. I've still got to finalize my numbers for last month. I've made progress toward that. Must do better this month with notations!

Have a fantastic Sunday all!

Hey Warriors!

I'm back in Seattle and I'm starting the painful process of getting back on the wagon. :lmao: I only ran 4 days in July, so the transition to my Goofy training in two weeks won't be going as smooth as hoped. I've updated the spreadsheet with my July miles and times (as pathetic as they are) and I got in 3.35 miles outside yesterday and 4 miles on the treadmill today - I was totally stiff this morning, hence the treadmill choice, but I'm trying to start my Saturday/Sunday back-to-back runs for my Goofy training. My first week of training only has 5 miles/6 miles for my long runs, but it ramps up pretty quickly and I'm not feeling entirely confident about my fitness right now. Oh well, I can't have lost THAT MUCH of my base in 5 weeks, right? RIGHT?!?!? :confused3

I've mostly managed to catch up on everyone's posts, but I'd be totally hopeless if I tried to respond to individual people. So, I'm just going to say that everyone is fabulous, and I hope all those with illnesses and injuries have made/are making a quick recovery! :woohoo:

Alright, and because I can, I'm throwing up some wedding pictures! They're not my favorite wedding pictures, but I haven't gotten the "official" ones yet and the two people who seem to have the best photos 1) sent me a fantastic dvd movie slideshow of the photos but not the raw image files, and 2) Gave me some fantastic photos in printed form.... which is not easy to put online. ;)

Anyway, they give you the general idea. James is in a kilt and I am a Disney princess. :rotfl: Also, the photographer made me climb the fountain in heels and with a cathedral length train. There are a lot of amusing pictures of it taking 4 people to get me up the fountain, and 3 people to get me back down. He also wanted me to climb a pillar outside a historic building in the area, but I vetoed it; so he sent my poor bridesmaids up. I think my photographer is big on heights. I also unfortunately (but hopefully will once my photographer actually sends me the proofs) do not have a good picture of Jack the Dog as the ring bearer dragging two small children (the ring bearer-bearers) out of the aisle and into a grassy area to frolick. Also, you will notice that the weather is pretty nice in the photos - this happened literally 5 minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to start (as I was the pissed-off bride asking why no one was moving chairs indoors as it was %&^*-ing pouring outside... and everyone was assuring me that it would be fine) and the sun (seriously; there is a picture of me pointing it out to my dad as we walk) came out as I was walking down the aisle.

So, there we are. I got married and lounged around on an island for a couple weeks, and now I really need to start Goofy training or else I will be the one in the WISH shirt lying on the ground around mile 4 of the HM. :lmao:

Speaking of which, Tracy, can you update me as now being the idiot doing the Dopey? :scared1:

16 miles in about 2:55. No Garmin with me, so I'm guestimating our time.

Have a great week everyone.

Hi Warriors:thumbsup2 Sorry I have been so out of touch with everyone. With school out it is just crazy right now. Only two weeks til school starts back. Not much to post since I never go anywhere anyway. Having to save for January:). My July totals are 100.12 miles time is 15.55. I hope things pick up soon I am so tired of all the hot weather. 50 days of 100 plus degree weather. Bring on fall temps. Please everyone be safe and I am counting the days til I see everyone in January.:)
Best Regards,
Rox

sarah massive congratulations on being an absolutely stunning bride! How amazing that the sun came out for you and I can see why the photographer made you climb- the photos are lovely. You're a wife!!!!

It was my sister's hen weekend and it was brilliant! They went on a high rope course (unfortunately i decided to sit that out and be the official photographer as my arm's not really strong enough) then to a fantastic bar/club where we had a cocktail making masterclass :rolleyes1 i may have drunk a few.

Toddled out for a slightly brain wobbling 4.5miles in 38mins, not pleasent!

Hey roxy

July is one of the busiest months of the year for me and my milade reflects it. Here are my totals for the month. Better late then never:

32 miles - 5 hrs 20 min

SArah - Beautiful pix! OCngratulations!

Hi eveyrone! Miss you tons. Been putting miles on our spreadsheet, but just have a heck of a time finding time to post. training is going well, though. Less than 3 weeks to my onlympic distance tri! :O

Thanks for all the congratulations!

Kate: Your sister's hen night sounds awesome! I've always wanted to try out a ropes course; when I was teaching middle school one year my class went to an outdoor adventure center and they got to do the high ropes course, but I got stuck sitting out with the kids that I didn't trust to operate a stapler, let alone participate in an activity where they could die. :sad2: James and his groomsmen went sky diving two days before the wedding as their bachelor party.... my bridesmaids and I just drank Strongbow to get free flip flops.

I got in 4 miles outside in the muggy weather today.... even Jack seemed to be a bit put out by the humidity! I'm also back to my Wii Fit for some low-impact crosstraining, and did 45 minutes of yoga and strength training (and 10 minutes of hulahooping! Whoo!) last night. I'm determined to be Goofy training-ready by next week! Unfortunately, I need minor big-toe surgery in a couple weeks - I have an ingrown toenail that is growing under instead of up so they need to cut into the toe to remove the scar tissue - and I'm not supposed to run for a week or two after. We'll see.... I've been running with a sore and painfully swollen toe for a year now, so I figure that the surgery can't really make it any more painful!

Sara, fantastic pics! I just know they will all be wonderful and difficult to choose which ones to keep for your album.

Kate, I'm glad you enjoyed hen night on the end of a camera! Perhaps a smart choice!

I've had some few set back days and will be back at it tomorrow I hope.

Yo Warriors! Hope you're all having a good summer, and getting in the reps.

8 1/4 miles in 1:14. Humidity was high. Sweated out a bucket at least!

Have a great Wednesday!
