Walt's Warriors are HOT in August!

Howdy Fellow Warriors. I finely get to get back to training tommorow after a week and a half off doctor orders. Cannot wait to see everyone in January. I hope everyone stays safe happy and healthy. I wish everyone the best.:)

Roxy!!! So good to see you! Hope you are all recovered and good to go now!

KAte - lol. I do love teh big lake, but not so much when it comes to swimming in those waves. Tri's take a bit more prep and thinking but are so fun. Love mixing it up a bit. Think of taking a hlaf and breakign it into 3 mini races. And tehn, recoverign twice as fast. Very fun.

Sarah - That collar sounded awful to me until you put it into perspective of it being the way a mamma dog would discipline. very cool.

OK, haven't done anythign since splashign on Tuesday, besides quick rides to chekc my bike out when I got it form teh shop yesterday. Still not feeling hot. Ugh. Hping ot be 100% by SUnday.

Have a great weekend warriors!

Hey Warriors-

I've been spinning and swimming like crazy. Sort of feels like cramming for an exam, which is probably not so smart... I'm doing a lot, but not focusing on speed or anything- just trying to get as comfortable as I can before my sprint tri next Sunday. :rolleyes1

Carrie- I can't wait to hear how it goes! I thought of you when I was miserable for the first half of my swim this morning! I hope you feel better soon.

Kate- that's crazy fast!!

Sarah Rose- thanks for the collar explanation! We have a regular collar for Luke and a choke chain. If I use the regular collar, he pulls like crazy for at least a mile; if I use the choke chain, he's a little better, but I feel like I'm going to hurt him. I need to look into the prong thing. He's only 4 months, but he's really BIG. I need to get him under control before he just drags me down the street!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

HELOOOOO Warriors!!

I am back from vacation and I did do some miles while I was away in North FL. And I think hills for those of us from the flat lands should count more. hahaha

I need to go back and read up and also....

END OF THE MONTH is on its way, so everyone please start to gather all your miles and times and either put them into the spreadsheet or post them here.

Come on Warriors, lets get out there and and get it done.

Tracy

10 on Tues, 8 1/4 on Thursday. Biking today after work.

Tracy welcome home!!! Did you have a brilliant time?

Jeff fab mileage

Marcia it was lovely to see you pop in, very glad to hear your goofy training is underway too.

i got in my longest run for a while 9.99 miles (yes i should've carried on that little bit further!) in 1hr 23 and 10 stretching! I don't know where that came from and it felt good. It was my very first run with my camelbak and i LOVED it! Anyone used the flashflo? it's a waist one and really does sit on my waist. It just wouldn't sit on my hips at all. Is that weird? Also wasn't quite sure where the blue water pipe was meant to go, but it was so much better than my bottle belt. :thumbsup2

Keep it up you wonderful lot.

Kate: I use the camelbak Flashflo and have for the last 2 years. I use it when ever I go 8 miles or more. I love it and works great. I put the pack in the back and the hose around the front after you clip it together. I love it. Has a nice pocket for your cell, lip balm, gels or what ever.

Happy Saturday Warriors!!

Working at the Fire Station today, so no saturday mileage, But yesterday I got in a total of 15 (8.75 bike with my DW & 6.75 run) & 24 miles on the bike on Thursday.

I have cracked the 200+ miles/month barrier for the first time all year, so things are looking up!! Hopefully I will get off tomorrow morning without too much trouble and can get a nice ride out in the country in.

Jim: Congrats on cracking 200 for the month! Wow! I'm still working on 100... :lmao:

Kate: Wow! You are so speedy, girl! And thanks for the tip on the Flashflo. I've been looking at replacing my belt (the type with one big bottle at the small of your back) and hadn't seen the Camelbak bladder type belt. I would order one right now, but I'm still stuck on the idea of needing different bottles so I can carry Gatorade and water.... not sure why, yet.

Tracy: Glad you had a great vacation! Your Epcot Facebook updates were a bit cruel, though, don't you think? :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Jen: I really do recommend the prong collar to help with controlling the big guys. Choke chains can do trachea damage (especially with the younger pups, who are still growing their neck muscles) if the dog continues to pull while wearing it, which is not good. The one thing with the prong collar is to be sure to use quick "snaps" with it, instead of continuous pressure, and give a command a second before the "snap". I use "Jack, slow down!", but anything you want to use is good. Very quickly, the dog should stop pulling with just the command and then you can start transitioning off the collar, just using the command. Some dogs just take a few days on the collar, others can take years to grow out of the "but I need to go everywhere NOW" stage, so don't get discouraged! Good luck with Luke! Dog training can be a challenge, but it's so rewarding to end up with the dog you want, eventually! :goodvibes

Carrie: How did your tri go? You rock, girl!

As for me, I finished week one of Goofy training today. 5 miles in 1:02 yesterday and 6.62 miles in 1:23 today. It's been uncomfortably warm here in Seattle (but nothing compared to you folks in most other parts of the country!) this week, so I'm quite a bit slower than usual. I thought I gave the dog heat stroke this morning, but it was nothing 20 minutes in a cool tub of water couldn't fix. I sort of felt like joining him, to be honest. :rotfl: I've been using the heart rate alerts on my Garmin to make sure I'm not pushing too hard in the heat, and they've been good at keeping me on a slow but healthy pace. I never ever thought I'd ever say that I can't wait for summer to be over and the cool, rainy weather to hit again. There are also too many people on my paths who need to finish their summer vacations and go home; the pitfalls of living in a tourist area. I'm sure Jeff knows nothing about that.... :rolleyes1

Hope all you Warriors are having a great weekend!

27 Mile ride today. Had to walk it in for the last 1 1/2 miles due to a flat, but I was so close I decided to do that instead of taking the time to fix the tire on the side of the road. 18.4 mph avg speed. Starting to get back on pace. Slowly.

Going to try to finish out the month tomorrow with some sort of morning LR.

Carrie, great report on the Tri thread about Chicago!! Wish I was there! Maybe someday.................

Thanks everyone fro your thoughts adn encouragement for my tri yesterday! It was great (except that the bike and swim were gollowed by teh longest, slowest 10K of my life). Still, that meant I left it all on teh course. My report is up on teh tri thread if you want the very lengthy version. ;)

Jim- If you coem to CHicago, I'll try to get there. I really liked it, but dh has not so fond memories. :guilty: It's so $$$$ to rae adn stay there, but so fun adn so great because area WISHers are great scream teamers. :goodvibes Besides, if we both did CHicago, you might actually have ot meet me. ;)

Carrie - I loved your tri report. It was really awesome congrats to both you and Scott. Sounds like a lot of hard work but also a lot of fun. Just wanted to let you know I enjoyed reading it.
Roxy

Massive well done to you Carrie, sounds like it was hard work and we're very proud of you! WHOOP WHOOP How awesome that you know you absolutely gave it your all as well.

Had to pop out to the gym yesterday as spent so many hours looking for a good broadband deal i got very frustrated. Thank goodness for exercise! we had a bank holiday yesterday that celebrates the end of summer and man it was right, the weather's been awful! Managed to sneak out for 3 miles between rain tonight! ick.
