Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend January 2011

Hi -My name is Julie, and I have just registered to run in the 2011 Family Fun Run 5k. I also plan on attending the half marathon and marathon - I will be there from January 6th through the 12th. I was just wondering how many other Dis'ers attend this - run in this, etc.

Hey, another runner? I did the half last year, my first. I am signed up for the this January, and am also going in October for the Wine and Dine Half. It is pretty cool running through the parks. See you there!

I did the Dopey last year and am still considering running the half next year (I won't run the marathon again until the Dopey is made official). I'm also thinking about doing the 5k again, too. The Up! 5k was a lot of fun! I'm running every Disney race this year (7 down, 4 to go, plus the Castaway Cay 5k) and they've all been so much fun!!

Thank you both for replying. I saw the ad in a running magazine and got all excited. It's great to hear that they are so much fun that you have done the Disney runs more than once! This will be my first - anything. I've been reading "The Courage to Start" though, so I'm not scared : ). I'm already hooked on running - LOVE IT! See you there . . .

You'll have a wonderful time! Train smart and plan to sightsee along the way. I took tons of pictures of characters along the course (adding about a half hour to my half marathon time), but it was worth it!

My first race was a half marathon about 2 months after I started running. It's definitely doable!

I've run both the 1/2M and full M before, and I'm running the 1/2M in Jan. Disney does a great job with logistics and race operations. If you're not an early riser, it can be a bit of a shock though as races start way before the parks open (~6am).

I'm considering running the half, too, if my hip recovers in time.
