Walt Disney Area Hotels

Just a thought really. If you book to stay at one of the hotels near Downtown Disney do you get the same benefits as a Disney Resort. Do you get the extra magic hours, charge items to rooms and have items delivered to room etc. These hotels are advertised as Official Walt Disney Hotels. They are based in Walt Disney World. Can anyone help. I am thinking of booking a holiday and can't decide where to stay.

If you were to stay at any of those Hotels right by Downtown Disney you do not get any of the benefits that you would when you stay at an official Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, because those locations are not owned by WDW. The only location that offers one of the WDW benefits is the Hilton and the thing those guests can use is EMH, however after that they do not get anything else.

DH and I stayed at the Wyndham (now the Buena Vista Palace) and while it was a very nice hotel, there were no affordable meal options and the bus transportation was not nearly as good as the onsite transportation. (And the bus schedule was totally inaccurate--the buses only ran about once an hour on weekdays, compared to once every 15-20 minutes at onsite hotels).

We much prefer to stay onsite and have great bus transportation and immediate access to a food court on site.

I would not confuse the OP the way you said that because the hotels located right by DTD are still located on WDW property, the only difference is they are not owned by WDW.

Thanks for that information. It has helped me to make a decision. We are now looking at staying at a Disney resort. We were thinking maybe Pop or All Stars. Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated. Anyway I'm off to read the other threads to find out more info. Once again Thanks.
