Walmart Savings Catcher

I've scanned 9 receipts and have $1.36 waiting for me. I have a few questions:

Probably 75% of my groceries come from Hy-Vee (teen son works there) so I'm interested in how you manually price match?

I probably should have explained a little better. When I say "manually" I mean I have the ad there and have the employee price match against the Hy-Vee ad price. I haven't been asked for proof via the ad for a long time, but I always carry them with me just in case. So, "manually", meaning I can't do it via the app, so I have to have them do it the "old fashioned way". :lmao:

I am happy they include Aldi on their list of competitors though, because I used to get the Aldi flyer in the PennySaver (local weekly flyer) and it hasn't been in there for a few weeks now. I never remember to grab the flyer on my way out of Aldi even though it's RIGHT THERE at the door. :rolleyes1

Bluebird is a card from Amex with no fees that I guess is like a prepaid debit card. The advantages are your savings catcher savings is doubled through February. Also, bluebird was eligible for small business Saturday so this year they reimbursed 3 eligible $10 transactions. I have saved $140 using savings catcher and had that doubled with bluebird which has gotten me a lot of groceries practically free. I'll be sad in March when the promotion is over.

Thanks for the explanation. Do they sell Bluebird at the gift card rack at WalMart?

Thanks for spelling that out. I've never price matched before. So you go into WalMart knowing that the item is cheaper elsewhere and when you get to the check-out tell them? If paper towels are 49 cents cheaper elsewhere, they give you the cheaper price? You just have to point it out? Sorry, if I'm slow to figure it out!

I'm not sure. There's no cost to get one. I signed up online and they mailed it to me.

Just got the results of my second scan. I got back another $4.77.:cool1:
From what I have been reading on this thread, it seems like the folks that take the time to compare prices ahead of time aren't getting that much back (because they saved the money in the first place!). It's folks like me that go and just grab what they need without comparing prices that are getting more back.
I think I will apply for the Buebird card. Looks like I will have $14.00 to spend (so far) for my WDW trip in May!

You got it! I just came back from there I bought Oikos Greek Yogurt. Walmart had them for $1 a piece, a local competitor had them for $0.88 so I told them and they rang them up at 88 instead of a dollar. I bring the ads with me just in case although you don't need them. I did find out if what you are price matching is 50% less than their price then a mgr needs to approve it. I price matched sliced mushrooms they were 59 cents for 8 oz at Aldi, Walmart had them for 1.98. The cashier wasn't going to give them to me w/o mgr approval until I whipped out my ad. It saves time if there is a situation like that.

Thanks for explaining! I'm going to pay closer attention to the ads in the future.

Just in case you didn't know, the money from Savings Catcher on the Bluebird card can only be used at Walmart but if you use it there, that's $14 you can take from grocies and put in your Disney category. :thumbsup2

I've had $45 on my Bluebird account in just a few months. Loving this and hoping they keep up the doubling and decide to extend it.

I have used this program since it started :) between my husband I we saved up enough to pay for half of our Christmas presents this past year. We did the bluebird card too, I had $200 to use for Christmas and he had $50 -60 if I recall. That's pretty easy money IMO for scanning receipts :)

I've been using this for a few months also - I usually look over the other grocery ads in the paper for the really good deals and then buy those items at Walmart. I've always gotten the difference back in savings catcher, then I transfer to Bluebird to get twice the reward dollars. I've earned over $100 in rewards (which have been doubled). I was able to buy some Christmas presents and used the rest to buy Disney gift cards from Walmart.

Not in my case. I look at the circulars for Kroger, Giant VA, CVS, Food Lion, Target, and Walgreens carefully. I look for items where the sale price is much lower than Walmart's price because the difference were doubled. That's how I've gotten a ton of free groceries.

I've been using the Savings Catcher since maybe September and we've gotten maybe $56 which we've redeemed. And right now we have about $10.

I'd like to save it up, but this Bluebird thing has me wondering about getting it. I don't know anything about Bluebird. So if I can double it through February, does that mean I would need to spend it before then? I'd rather save up to get a big ticket item (like if the rumored larger iPad comes out this fall). If I transfer it to Bluebird, does it stay on the Bluebird card, so it's no longer available in the Savings Catcher? And if it is doubled on the Bluebird card, would I need to spend that before the end of February to take advantage of it being twice as much?

Sorry so many questions.....

I love my Bluebird! Everything is doubled until Feb 28th that you move to your Bluebird. As long as you move it before 2/28, it will be on your account to spend whenever you want. You don't have to spend it before the 28th. Once you transfer it to Bluebird, it stays on there until you spend it in your WalMart Bucks$ section. Since the start of it, I have earned almost 100.00, doubled to 200.00.

Thx for posting. Just scanned some receipts, curious to see the results. Shame I had stacks of receipts older than the 7 days.
Will need to look into that blue??? Card for dbl back

When you redeem it, it gets doubled. So if it's redeemed in February, you'll get the doubling. I'm not sure if the receipt has to be from February, submitted by 2/28 or processed by 2/28 to get doubled--I'll have to figure that out because once they stop doubling I'm back to Kroger.

Not only is the Savings Catcher thing good for saving money, it also saves me time. I used to go to at least two stores in order to save money. Now, I just make a note of what's on sale and buy it at Walmart knowing that I will get the difference back, and then some.

I have a bit over $200 on my Bluebird card. I'm going to miss when they stop doubling the money. My tentative plan is to buy a Southwest gift card for vacation.

I started around mid September 2014(we go once a week, or sometimes every two weeks to Walmart, hit other grocery stores other times for meats), but we have had $66.62 reward dollars. Great thing for doing absolutely nothing but scanning my receipt. :thumbsup2

How does this work for things that are BOGO at another store? If I buy 2 from WM do I get the cost of one item back in Savings Catcher?

I do them at the register. I just give them the price for each. So if chips are 2 for 5 as they are scanned I say 2.50 each. I don't know if the app catches it, as I only use the app to double check my receipt for any items at stores I don't get ads for.

I have a couple of questions, if anyone can answer. 1. How does it work with online purchases? Does it automatically recognize you and enter your purchase or do you have to manually enter it somehow? 2. Just in general, if you need to make a return, can you use the receipt that was scanned on your phone or do you still need the actual receipt? TIA
