Walk-ing Back to Disney! COMPLETED 10/16! A Fall 2014 PTR!

Well, I have been MIA.....and I have missed A LOT!!! Although, I don't feel quite as behind with you as I have been following along on fb......:cool1:

Boo for your hubs injury. I'm glad that he is back in the saddle....hehehe;)

OMG, the pic of the girls holding their nails out is TOO CUTE!!!!! I love Maddie's cheeks!

I DID NOT KNOW THAY YOU CAN SAVE THE RIDER SWAP FOR NIGHT!!!! OMG, I might need to switch up some of our fp now....... I love the DIS!!!! y'all are helping us have the best first trip ever (well, probably not as good as yours.....but maybe the second best!!!! hahahahaha:rotfl2:)

I love that your shoes got some recognition!! They are awesome!!!!!

It sounds good to me.
But I am still trying to figure out this whole fast pass thing. When we went last the ONLY thing we used fastpasses for were when we got gifts of FP's from CM and a woman we met for Winnie the Pooh and Mickey's Philharmagic, and then the ones we ran ahead to get for Toy Story Mania, RNR and TOT, and Soarin'.
Everything else was walk on or short waits except for the fairies which I wish we had one for.
I am shocked that there is one for Livin with the land and Spaceship Earth as my only experience with both of those were of us being the only people in the whole park riding them. :)
So, I am just overwhelmed trying to figure out how to even do fastpasses and how to make them online for all of us and what to expect from the rides we don't get them for.
I will be very interested in seeing how your FP reservations day goes.

When we were there in March the line for Living with the Land was about 45 minutes without fp+ - same for Spaceship Earth, at least part of the day. Later the line for LWTL was walk-on. I would not have wasted a FP for it, eventhough I love the ride.

I know that the parks are not going to be super busy when we are there, but I still plan on getting my 3 FPs each day - just to be on the safe side, so I can ride the rides I really want to get on.

Terri, your plans look good to me, but I've never done the rider swap - can you swap to come back at a later time? I thought you had to swap out and ride it right away?

On your previous trip did you go to the 8 or 10 o clock Fantasmic! show? I am debating the dinner package for it and wondering how crowded it will be in September.
Also, where did you find the binoculars at AK?
Thank you!

Aww thanks! I have barely seen or heard from you though lately, all the OT you are putting in, huh?!?! It will be paying off VERY soon, in like 3 months when you have the trip of your life and don't have to worry about real world things like money and work and such... teehee!!! :woohoo:

YES! Rider swap, you go up as a group when your first set of people go to ride so they can see that you have a child who is too small to ride, and then they will give you a RS ticket. The ticket only has the date on it, not a return time. So you can use is ANYTIME that day! This is a BIG advantage for us with the littles bc we can use up all our FP+ in the day, book more after that and still be guaranteed a ride on your fave ride in the dark! People without the littles either have to save the FP+ through the day, this not getting to book more, or they have to risk getting the ride they want at the time they want after they use their initial 3.

Yea, I cannot imagine waiting that long for a ride like that, but then again it is in the AC! :rotfl:

I am def booking my FP's too, just in case! I already know there are some I might not use though.

And rider swap, I just explained above. You can use the ticket anytime that day, it does not have a return time!

On your previous trip did you go to the 8 or 10 o clock Fantasmic! show? I am debating the dinner package for it and wondering how crowded it will be in September.
Also, where did you find the binoculars at AK?
Thank you!

We did the 10pm show and I loved it. You should have seen the crowds that were leaving the park after the first show, it was crazy! I am pretty sure like 70% of the people went to that one. The stadium was not even half full for the 10pm show and when we left we walked right up to our bus line and got on the first bus!! This was late Aug, so I think Sept will be even less crowded  We also did rides/shopping right up until about 9:30, no need to get to the stadium super-crazy early when you go to the later showing. I wish we could do that again, however, I guess bc crowds are expected to be low, both the nights we are in HS this time they are only having one showing. :(

We found the binoculars in AK at a small stand right across from the Pagini Trail entry/exit, its where you come off the Safari ride, so if you want them for the safari go to the exit area first, they were so cheap for a Disney souvenir too, like $5-6... I actually just pulled them out the other day and stuck them in my Disney box to take back this time and now that Maddie is older I suspect we will be purchasing a second pair too! :lmao: :goodvibes

I think your plans look good! I guess I never thought about saving our rider swap for later because I never want to backtrack, so we just do it while we're there. of course, if it's for a fave ride, that would make it worth going back to ride again. i'll have to keep that in mind. i'm going to start working on our touring plans soon too!

Plans are looking good! The only thing I noticed is that it doesn't look like you are using all of your FP+ slots on the first two days? Unless I'm missing something. Which is entirely possible, as it took me a LONG time to figure out that TTFDP was the dessert party...I was sitting here going, "Hmmm, Test Track Free Dining Plan? No, that makes no sense. What could it be?" :confused3 :lmao:

Yea, I don't like to backtrack either, but in MK we probably will hit some areas twice, and I really want to do some of the outdoor rides in the dark! Its so much more FUN! I really want to do Dumbo at night this time! :yay:

That is so funny!! It happens to me too! Yesterday I was going over my own notes and I could not for the life of me figure out what "FoF" was, and I had it on like two days, and then today when I was looking up showtimes I realized it was for Festival of Fantasy! :rotfl2:

You're right, on our arrival day I am not using all our FP+, but I am actually going to book the remaining ones for 2-3pm, in case we get there earlier than expected, but we probably wont. I just didnt note it, you are clever! I am booking them all for day two but they are split weird...

Oh I learn so much on here. You mentioned the binoculars for the safari ride we happen to own 2 pair so they are now packed....lol I know I still have 88 days to go but I am packed. Frank still needs packed but I have stuck a few things in his suite case already......lol

Haha! I'm not packed at all. I really new to get all our customs finished so that I can gather everything and de-wrinkle it before packing it up! I was able to pack all our shirts and things last time pretty early but I wear my few pairs of shirts a lot so I have to wait last minute for most of those. I can't wait to get to the packing stage!!! This time I want to pack at least our first 3 or 4 outfits in our carry on bc we have a layover and I am scared that out bag could get lost, lol. Usually we fly non stop so I don't worry as much!

You make me feel like SUCH A SLACKER!!! you have it down so nicely!!!

wanna do mine?

BTW a HUGE congrats on being featured on the Donald site!!! :thumbsup2

I love the planning too. For our first ever trip with Dan, me and the girls, I researched and read Steve Birnbaum's Official Guide and also the Unofficial Guide by Len Testa (I think). Then I typed out two full sheets of facts I wanted to be able to remember. Then I made color coded index cards outlining each attraction, it's location, how many stars, if it had a height restriction, a little about the attraction, including how long it was and when the best time to go was. Whew! This was all before fastpass. The fam started to make fun of me as I consulted the cards, so I put them away and asked where they wanted to go next. Well, of course none of them knew anything about Disney World, so they didn't have a clue. They ended up begging me to get the cards out again. I already knew most of what was on the cards, but they were handy for reference. What is funny, I have updated those cards over the years and so many people have borrowed them and loved them. I only wish I had gone to Disney as often as my cards did! I'm sporting a cold/sinus infection/cough, so I couldn't sleep last night and what do you think I did? Yep! Started updating my cards. I really don't need them any more, but I still loan them out, so I like them to be accurate. Plus, I just get a kick out of doing them. I know it probably seems odd, but it's fun for me.:upsidedow

Sorry for the long post that was ALL ABOUT ME!! :cool2::sad2:

Tell me where your shoes were featured??? I missed that! You really are quite a skilled artist, and I'm always amazed at the things you think to do. Have you and the girls done a fairy garden yet? That's going to be my next project when I see my grandkids! Actually Raina's was so cute, I knew I'd have to try it myself!

Well, I hope you have a fantastic weekend, and I hope your hubby tolerates work okay. :flower3:

Yay plans! :cool1:

Oh man you seem to have them down pat and you know what you're doing! And its so nice that you will have the extra days to just get in that much more, or take it a little easier on other days!! :goodvibes

Somedays when I'm day dreaming I just like to walk through the days/plans. Puts me in my happy place!

Are you kidding me? You? Slacker? Psssshhhhhhh!! If I did HALF the things you do in a week I would keel over! And you still have time to make reveal videos, binders, etc, etc, etc! I just happen to have a lot of time to daydream about Disney so I plan out my park days in my head, lol.. :lmao:

Thanks, that was a fun surprise!

I read that unoffical Disney guide before our first trip and LOVED it! Actually I read anything I could get my hands on! I love the story about your cards! I think thats awesome and totally up my alley! I was thinking of making index cards for each day with my schedule outline, showtimes, and junk and then laminating them and putting them on one of those o-ring things to hang off the stroller or something just to keep us on track. Pulling out and unfolding the times guide is a hassle, and whipping out my spreadsheet was a pain last time too! That is just so cool that people borrow your cards and you have kept them up too! How awesome!

Yes, my Donald/Goofy shoes were featured in an Etsy Donald Duck Treasury, it was a whole bunch of random DD things and one was my shoes! :goodvibes

I still havent gotten to the fairy garden, but I have bought stuff for it! :lmao: Now to just DO IT!

Hubbys hand is much better, the pain has gone away and it no longer hurts if he bumps it or anything. Yay!

Yay plans! :cool1:

Oh man you seem to have them down pat and you know what you're doing! And its so nice that you will have the extra days to just get in that much more, or take it a little easier on other days!! :goodvibes

Somedays when I'm day dreaming I just like to walk through the days/plans. Puts me in my happy place!

OMG! That is EXACTLY what I do! I basically just do a walk through in my head and figure out which area I want to start in and etc... I really think its going to help us, having a more thought out plan for touring the parks this time. Hopefully my feet will reap the benefits! :hyper:

Alright! So before I get to posting the second half of my plans I must tell you the GREAT news!

Basically, I had already bought my return flight home, but I hadn't bought my flight to Orlando, I was waiting until I budgeted for it. Anyway, we prefer to fly SW and there was really only one flight that would get us into Orlando in enough time to make our dinner ADRs, so I knew that'd be the one and I have been stalking it for soooo long. Well, it sucks. At its lowest it was $189, and at its highest $199 per person, so basically $800. :(

Well I knew I would be buying that flight this week and I was just soooo bummed that it still showed zero signs of ever reaching any price significantly lower and so I thought I would just check around other airlines and such. Basically the cheapest I found, getting us in before noon was still about $150pp....and not worth the hassle of flying through another carrier (especially bc I have a $80 SW credit) and then I randomly decided to check flights out of Austin (about 2 hrs away) and I found one for $95pp getting in Orlando at 10:30AM!!!!

So yeah, I booked it. Now the plan is the mother-in-law will drive us to Austin the night before we leave, and we will get a room and she'll take us to the airport there in the morning! It's a win-win bc she has a good friend in the area that she will have the excuse to pay a visit to and we saved $400!! Annnnd we get there even EARLIER!!! SQUEEEEEEE!

So YAY! As a lot of you know, it's such a relief when all the big stuff is paid off! Now we just need to rent our stroller and buy our MNSSHP tickets! :hyper:

Also, I will probably be doing a post tomorrow or monday bc I went SHOPPING today and bought some AWESOME Disney stuff for our trip! I am SO excited to show you these AMAZING and PERFECT AK outfits I found for the girls! Seriously, you will not believe how perfect they are! It's like they were made for AK! :faint:

But first, let me wrap up the plans, I have them all typed and ready for ya's ta look at! ;)

Thursday October 2nd- Rest Day/ MNSSHP

Plans are SLEEP IN! When we wake up go to POP food court for breakfast. Explore our resort some, and I must do laundry while the kids find the playground then go swimming and wear the girls out, then NAP!

After nap we want to start getting ready and in our Halloween costumes! Then we hope to walk over to AoA, checking out the Cars section we missed last time and grab a late lunch there! (PS Have you seen the new frozen strawberry cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a mickey straw they have at AoA!?!?!?)

Frozen-Strawberry-Cheesecake-on-a-Straw-Landscape-of-Flavors-Cross-Section-600x450.jpg
Thank you Disney Food Blog for this yummy photo!

Then we will take the bus from AoA to MK hopefully arriving around 4ish!

No set plans for the party besides getting in line for the 7 dwarves with Raina’s fam a little before the party starts, then having fun!

Things I want to do FOR SURE:
Monsters Dance party
Parade & Fireworks
Trick or Treat (VERY high on the kids list, I know, I know, you can get candy anywhere, but kids LOVE T or Ting and there's no way we can say no!)
Get a party Pin & Popcorn bucket

We are staying until it ends! If the kids have to, they can stroller sleep!! Chris and I want to enjoy MK in the dark!

Will most likely grab dinner from Casey’s this night but may walk around and eat it versus taking time to sit… teehee…

Friday October 3rd- MK/ Rest or DTD

Plan is to hit up MK for a lot of RIDES this morning. I am following a touring plan that has us going through Tomorrowland and Fantasyland mainly from Josh at Easywdw.

We will have been out late the night before, so making pre-rope drop ADR may be hard, but we will do it, however if we get pooped we plan to leave early this day and either head to the resort for rest and swimming or if we have energy maybe DTD and try Disney Quest. I hope to do the latter, so I am going to write out my plan accordingly, however if we don’t well just head to POP instead and do dinner there! This is a party night so MK closes at 7 also.

8:05am Crystal Palace ADR
9am-12pm Without FP in this order do as many as we can fit in: Space, Buzz, Astro O, Speedway, Pooh, Dumbo, Barnstormer, LM, Carousel
12pm- Pinocchio Village Haus
12-1pm 7DMT x2 (Me & Liv, rider swap for Chris and Liv) and the Teacups
1-2pm Enchated Tales w Belle x3 (all) then Philharmagic
2-3pm Anna & Elsa x3 (all)
3pm Festival of Fantasy Parade (plan to watch from Frontierland)
4pm Head to DTD & Do Disney Quest then Dinner at WPX

Sat Oct 4th- AK

9am Rope Drop
9am Ride without FP+ Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Pagani Trail, Explore Africa
11am FoTLK
11:30-12:30 Safari x3 (all)
12:45pm Yak & Yeti Walkup & Explore Asia more if we would like
12:45-1:45pm EE x2 (Chris and I take turns)
1:45-2:45pm Dinosaur x2 (Me & Olivia, rider swap with Chris and Liv right after) Will also use this time to take Maddie on Triceratop Spin, and play in the Boneyard)
2:45-3:45pm Kali x2 (Chris & Olivia, rider swap for me & Liv to use right after if I feel like)

Depending if we feel like it or not, we may or may not do Kali, I really hate to be wet, but we do plan to have an outfit change, so doing it at the end of this day wouldn’t be so bad. Either way, when we are done with the above we might just scroll through some shops on Discovery Island before heading out early to make our way to Ft Wilderness. If we get to FW early we may do pony rides for the girls while we wait for our dinner ADR!

6:15pm Hoop Dee Doo ADR

Sun Oct 5th- MK/ Monorail Tour

9am- Rope Drop (and my first welcome show this trip!)
9am- Do the following without FP+ if possible: BTMRR, Splash, Haunted Mansion, IASW
10:25-11:25am Peter Pan x3 (all)
11:30am Columbia Harbor House
12:15-1:15pm Jungle Cruise x3 (all) then explore Adventureland some, grab a dole whip, Swiss Family Treehouse, Tiki Room
1:15-2:15pm Pirates x3 (all) Finish exploring AL, maybe do the Pirate Adventure game

After that, depending on how we feel we may grab more FP+ or head back to some faves, or we may just head out of the park for the day and go onto our next order of business.

This night we plan to hop the monorail and take a quick peek into the Contemporary, then the Poly for our dinner ADR, then the Grand Floridian. Just to browse and see them. This is a party night, so no heading back to MK, we will just go to our “home” when we are done!

6:45pm Ohana ADR

Mon Oct 6th- Epcot

This is the day we plan to devote to World Showcase! I hope to get at least a good 30-45 minutes in each Country. Because WS doesn’t open until 11 we are going to play the morning by ear. If we decide to get up early we may head to the park and do some rides in Future World first, or we may sleep in and show up a little before 11.

No big plans for the timing besides a couple of things. We want to grab a phone and do Agent P for sure, we plan to do lots of F&W, and the Sugar Ray concert that night too. I want to start in Mexico bc I think that will work with the timing of our dinner ADR best.

Definitely want to try to catch Off Kilter, British Revolution and some other acts throughout WS today. Also, I plan to book our other FP+ in Future World for the end of the night in case we finish up in WS and want to go do a couple rides before we leave!

Things we have planned:

11am Arrive to WS, pick up Agent P phone
11:30-12:30pm Maelstrom x3 (all)
4:30pm Via Napoli ADR
5:30 or 6:45pm Sugar Ray Concert
6:30-7:30pm Soarin’ x2 (Chris and Liv, I will take Maddie on Nemo)
7:30-8:30 Test Track x2 (Liv and I and then ride swap)
9pm Illuminations

Our last day in the parks :( Because of such, we plan to spend the ENTIRE day in MK!!

7:45am BBB
Plans afterward are to start in AL, and work our way to Frontierland and then up to Fantasyland and then end it in Tomorrowland. No real set plans this day, I am guessing around what times for our FP+’s, I plan to use them in Frontierland and Fantasland mainly, then hopefully we can book more after that if we need.
9:45-10:45am Splash x2 (Chris and Liv, rider swap for me and Liv)
10:45-11:45am BTMRR x 1 (Me, then ride swap for Chris and Liv)
12:30-1:30pm Pooh x3 (all)
1:30-2:30pm 7DMT x3 (Me Chris and Liv, but we will go up separate time to get ride swap passes to use at NIGHT)
3:00pm Festival of Fantasy from Main Street if we can find a spot

After that we plan to try more of our faves, including Tomorrowland.

6:30pm BOG ADR
8:30pm MSEP
10pm Wishes

So there ya have it!! ALL our plans! I am really excited to see if the work well and all my hard work and planning pays off! Well, I already know it will, but I am curious to see how it compares to our first trip where we really only had ADRs planned out.

I'm trolling all of your threads looking for your plans and FP+ stuff, so POST AWAY my friends! ::yes::

First - your plans are amazing... Soooo... If I give you our dates and our FP stuff, will you just plan all of our days for us? It would make my life sooo much easier. :thumbsup2

I am not sure if you have seen it in my PTR or not, but I also have a mini-planner... basically - I make all of my planning days in Photoshop, then I print them out at my local photo lab, stick them into one of those little $1.99 cheap-o photo books... Super small, fits right in my bag and 95% water proof... But you could easily do that with Lois' note cards too... I just loved the idea for the $1.99 plastic photobooks - they worked perfectly. And printing at the photolab when they have the $.10 sale... Well, my binders usually cost me less than $5 to make, and that includes the cost of the little book. :thumbsup2 Just an idea. The digital copies of what I actually print are on the first page of my PTR. :)

Congrats on getting an AWESOME airfare price!! :woohoo:

Finally - I cannot wait to see the girls' AK outfits... You know how I feel about Disney customs! WHOOT!

D~

Yay for good airline prices! I wish we could get a deal like that! Flying from Utah is so expensive. We thought about driving again but it would have taken so long to get there and probably have only made a difference of a few dollars.

Your plans are so awesome. I really need to do all my fast pass + research now so I can make sure I am making the best decisions when it comes to those.

I have finally been working on my binder so I should have more plans up soon. I love reading plans!:cool1:

Banana Dance Time!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana:

Grats on the airfare deal!! That is fantastic! Feels so good to get a good deal and just save so much money! And you know increasing the souvenir budget is always a bonus! :thumbsup2

Your plans look great, honestly you are all over it I don't think there is anything I could add! lol:thumbsup2 I didn't see any EMH mentions but I just found out last night that there were changes!(I'll be posting about them in my PTR as my plans need to change a little now /lesigh) So incase I just didn't see them on your plans they were adjusted!

Wow with all the plans. Good job. I sat all 3 kids down yesterday to go over fast pass selections. There were a few disagreements but I think we have it all ironed out. My kids, especially my 19 yr old son, is more into the character interaction than the actual attractions. Once he rides the main rides, he just wants to meet characters and of course eat.

Great job on holding out for the flights. Southwest doesn't have good sales for my city. I have decided because we are in Northwest. I would have tried them just for the free checked bags.

I drop Marissa off at college for her 2 day orientation today. It will be a busy day.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: Great airfare!!!! And I assume that since you already budgeted the more expensive one you have $400 left!! WOOHOO!!!!

I love your plans. You have it down!!! I feel inadequate when I read yours.....we noted some things we want to do, but didn't list them all. Now I feel like I need to go back and list everything so we don't forget something hehee
