For those of you who have gone on the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour what did you think?

How much does it cost and is it worth the fee?

Will it be suitable for our DD12?

Thanks in advance!

I believe it was 56 per person. I went on Halloween of this year and liked it a lot! The tour is 3 or 3 1/2 hours and does include lunch.

I will tell you that it was a great tour, but if you're a Disney buff and know any trivia about the park itself or Walt Disney, you will find yourself knowing all the answers. The guide we had at one point started saying during her trivia questions "Does anybody except Becca (me) know..."

You get to go inside club 33, on the Jungle Cruise, in the Tiki Room, on the train, and one other thing if I remember correctly without any wait. There were a few things I learned on the tour though, I didn't know ALL of her trivia, and I'm guessing that depending upon the guide, you will get a different set of trivia.

We did not have any children on our tour, but I think that if your daughter is interested in Disney history and trivia she might be okay. You wear a headset that allows you to hear the guide or Disney music while you are on the tour, so that helps keep the mind entertained while you are hopping all over the park.

I took the tour after hearing rave reviews about it from a WDW CM when I visited WDW in 2006. I really enjoyed the tour, but I think people need to know a few things about it.

As Becca mentioned, Disney fans, especially those who love Walt and Disneyland will likely already know most of the interesting little factoids they share with you on the tour. However, I did learn some new things that I did not know before. If you're a huge fan of Disney, but are not very familiar with Disneyland, I almost wholeheartedly recommend the tour to you. It will teach you a lot about the little touches that make Disneyland special and unique even from the clone parks built in Orlando, Tokyo, Paris, and Hong Kong. It's called Walk in Walt's Footsteps for a reason.

The only hesitation I have on recommending the tour would be the time. In my opinion, you need 2 days to properly experience Disneyland itself(throw in another 1 for DCA). If you only have 2 days for the entire DLR, it may take away from valuable touring time, especially if the parks are crowded. However you could do the highlights of DCA in half a day and use your other half day or so for the tour.

For the 12 year old, it probably depends on the 12 year old. I would have loved it when I was 12, but I can think of plenty of 12 year olds who would have bored by it. It really comes down to how much the person taking the tour loves Disney, especially Walt. I've overheard plenty of conversations in the parks from people who are pretty clueless when it comes to Walt.

Thanks Sleepless Knight for your input.

We both love Walt Disney and in fact I just finished reading a great book about Walt called 'How to be like Walt Disney'. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Walt. It was fantastic and really inspiring. What a fantastic human being!

It will be my first trip to DL however it will be my partner's 5th trip. We will have at least 3 days to DL and DCA and could add a 4th or maybe even 5th if required so it seems we should be able to fit the tour in. I am really considering doing it now especially to have to opportunity to "walk in Walt's footsteps"!

I did this tour a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I'm thinking of taking it again in June when I visit DL again. Last time I went, part of the tour was spent in what what then the Disney Gallery (now the Dream Suite) above the Pirates entrance. We discussed how Walt was making it into an apartment for his family and entertaining. We then ate our lunch on a courtyard verandah. Now that this is the Dream Suite, is it still part of the tour? Or do they include something else instead?

With that information, I give the tour my complete and wholehearted recommendation. I took the tour in 2007, and to put it in perspective, I visited Disneyland in '78, '82, '86, '88 through '92, '95, '98, '03 through '05, and became an annual passholder in 2006, visiting 3-4 times a year now. In all honesty, going to Disneyland means that you're going to walk in Walt's footsteps anyways, but the tour will help a Disneyland novice experience the richness and detail in the park, some of which is part of the magic, but not necessarily realized. For the veteran, it's fascinating to see so much Disney history, and depending on your guide, you may hear stories about long gone attractions that left the park years before my parents took their 2 year old son(me) for the first time in '78(not that I remember much, but hey).

In my opinion, Walt's personal touch is what sets Disneyland apart from every other park in the world, including any park built by the Walt Disney company.

As far as adding an extra day goes, when did you last visit WDW and/or when is your next visit there if applicable? Based on that answer, I'll give you my opinion on adding another day or so.

In August 2007, the Dream Suite was under construction. Lunch was held in the courtyard where you check in for the tour. I believe that lunch is still in that location and is included as part of the tour.

You can no longer go into the suite. As of October 31 of this year, lunch was held right next to the reserved tours booth on the left as you walk through the tunnel. It was a great time!

I personally have not been to WDW either - it is my first Disney trip and I am so excited! My partner has been 4 times to DL and 3 times to WDW but not for a long while.

Your input has been great so thanks again!
