Walk from HS to EPCOT?

Is this feasible? We're thinking about spending the day in Hollywood Studios and then going to EPCOT for dinner. Is it possible to walk? Or is there a faster way? We will have our own car if that's any faster

A little over a mile, 20-25 minutes for most people, but faster than taking the boat

There's a Friendship boat at the entrance to HS that will take you to Epcot, with stops first at Swan/Dolphin, BW and BC/YC. Then it arrives at the International Gateway of Epcot. Because of the stops, it's probably a little longer trek than walking. However, once you determine how sunny, hot and humid it is that day, the boat might seem like a better idea. Or you could take the boat part-way to Boardwalk and walk to IG from there.

You also have the option of taking a bus to the Front(Main) Gate at Epcot.:)

Its definitely feasible,I've walked it hundreds of times but as someone said,if its hot and humid the walk can wear you out.It takes me 20 minutes walking fast and using the shortcut through the Boardwalks Luna Park pool.It would take between 20-30 minutes for most people. The other options are the bus that will take you to the front of Epcot or the boat to the World Showcase entrance. The boat is not fast but worth taking if its hot or there's a boat about to leave allowing you to take it without waiting. The boat will make stops at the Swan/Dolphin,Y&B Club and Boardwalk before reaching Epcot.

Like previous posts have said, the walk is about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace, but it is a nice walk right along the water!

Sadly, the boat between the two parks takes closer to 30-40 minutes so walking is a quicker, albeit more tiring, option. Walking is also good when special events are occurring at DHS that may make the parking lot more crowded, like Star Wars Weekends or last year's Friday the 13th Unleash the Villains night.

It will be mid-July so the heat will definitely be a factor. I guess we'll just wait and see how we feel after a day at the park, thank you for the quick responses and I saved a copy of the map!

One consideration, where do you want your car to be when you have finished dinner at EPCOT? If DHS is still open, the Friendship boats are still running and you can get back to the DHS parking lot. Otherwise, you may be walking BOTH ways to and from EPCOT. Generally, we look at our schedule and leave our car at the LAST park of the day. The exception is if we start at AK, then we drive to the next park or last park of the day.

I just did this yesterday. Took me 32 minutes from leaving DHS photo center right inside the gate to scanning my magic band at my destination, which was Test Track. The walk was shaded most of the way but I did go around noon, not the evening where the sun would be at a different, less shady angle. Enjoyed the walk in the 80 degree, low-humidity day, but would not have wanted to do it in the sweltering heat & humidity of Florida summers and I say that being from south MS and very accustomed to the heat & humidity of summertime. The boat may be a better alternative even though it takes longer if you're beat from the heat.

I'm hoping this walk isn't too bad. We plan to walk off our Brown Derby dinner on our way to EMH at Epcot on 10/1.

The boat is really good. We took it to and from the beach club to hs. If you want to get to Epcot from hs or vise versa I would get the boat. You can always get off at the beach/yacht club and walk rest of the way to Epcot which would be quicker than going to the boardwalk then Epcot by boat.

I have been on them, but I can't really remember -- how many people do the Friendship boats hold?

I am a group tour director who will be at WDW the second week in June with a high school band and choir group, about 75 people total. On our final day we will be transferring from DHS to Epcot at about 3:00, and we will be using Disney transportation. (Normally we would use our own charter buses, but our drivers will be at the hotel having a mandatory rest period before the overnight drive home.)

I will present the options to the director, and it may be that we will allow the members of the group to decide for themselves. If it turns out he wants them to stay together for some reason, I will tell him walking is really the only way to accomplish that, given the capacity and irregular schedules of the buses and boats.

We are not constrained by any performance times or anything like that on this day, which is good. Just a half day DHS and half day Epcot.

I am actually happy to be able to give the kids a glimpse of the Epcot resort area, something that we typically do not have time to do.

I think we've probably taken the boat once. We walk every chance we get. We like having things under our control. We get to set our pace and we don't have to wait for a boat, especially at the end of the evening when the boat dock is packed. When we were there in October, my SIL and her family took the book, and we walked. We stopped to use the washroom and stopped at the store at Boardwalk for a drink, and we still be the boat by at least 10 minutes. The walk doesn't take us more than 20 minutes (but we do walk at a very quick pace).

We love the walk between EP and HS and wish there was more walkability around Disney. We'd really like if you could walk from MK to GF and Poly or to AKL from AK.

It's just over a mile, we walk it all the time. It's faster than the boat because it stops, we actually did where two of us walked 2 took the boat and we beat them by 10 minutes. The scenery is nice too.

Like people have said, it's possible and an easy walk, but personally, I'd take the boat. After a full day of being out in the hot, humid Florida weather, you will welcome the cool breeze off the water and the chance to sit and relax before dinner. :boat:

Obviously the perception of "relax" differs from one person to the next, but after a day of theme park lines and crowds being able to be "alone" for a few minutes, in the quiet, with no lines and very few people so we can talk and still soak in the "magic" kinda defines relax to us.

In my opinion it is THE biggest benefit of staying at an Epcot resort. At the end of the day, when you're ready to leave after a day of lines and crowds...you don't have to go stand in another line with more crowds to get back to your resort.

The walk from Epcot to Hollywood Studios is particularly nice because we usually stop and get a drink from the clown pool or Boardwalk Pizza window for the walk.
