Waitlisting for BCV pts, need encouragement

Well,

I was all set to add on at SSR. DH walks in the door, takes one look at the brochure and says he doesn't want to add on there...he thinks it looks boring and stuffy. I would insert a rolling eyes smilie here if my computer wasn't misbehaving!

He says to call and see if BCV is still available. It's sold out so we are waitlisting for 150 pts.

I guess SSR is always a possibility if this doesn't come through.

I was extremely pleased with the brochure but he just does not like it. I know there is more there than the room but he likes BCV so we'll see if this works out.

Does anyone think the rooms are a little fancy? Not that this is a bad thing.

Yes, I agree the rooms look almost 'too fancy'. I am excited to see them in person this October, as sometime pictures don't do the real thing justice. I also hope the exterior is taking form by October, so I get a feel for that.

I think the SSR rooms look "upscale". I guess that's another word for fancy.

But I do think they look great. I think the sales at SSR will be brisker than most of us thought....due in no small part to the extra 12 years and the initial discount.

We on a wait list for BCV too for our initial purchase into DVC. I didn't think it would be this stressful waiting!

We called our guide with questions and to see if he heard anything 2x in the past week and we haven't heard from him at all. No one has returned any of our phones calls and we're a little annoyed and now we're questioning whether we should go through with it.

I agree, SSR does look upscale. I guess my DH can't appreciate the finer things in life. I know I can.

I think maybe it will look different in person and we can always add on later at SSR if he changes his mind or if the BCV waitlist doesn't come through.

My Dh feels very strongly that we have enough points. I mentioned that I thought SSR looked very nice. He may have grunted in return, I took that for a no.

When did BCV sell out? I didn't know that. I had 'dreamed' of adding on more points there, but it wasn't going to happen (so I guess it doesn't matter). But I just didn't realize it was sold out!

We were at the sales office last week to look at the model for SSR. It's basically the same layout as BCVs with different decor, a darker, more "classic" look as opposed to pastels and seascapes.

As to the add ons, I was kind of taken aback at what happened when we were there. After seeing the model and deciding that SSR is just not for us, we said that we would rather be put on a waitlist for another add on at our home resort of BCVs. We were told at the beginning of our conversation that our use year was "sold out". Our guide disappeared for a few minutes and came back with the news that there were 400 points available in our use year that were earmarked for waitlisted people but that his boss said he could sell them for us right then an there. That left a very bad feeling with me and my DH. What about those people who are ON the waitlist. It sure looked to me that walk-ins are a priority!!!

My use year is APRIL and we did NOT take any of those 400 points...

I did post a trip report somewhere on this board on Tuesday....it was a LOOOONG one too!

Sounds like some of the DVC agents haven't gotten over the hard sell mode. They hardly have to pressure us to add on DVC points! I thought my rep was giving a little pressure when I called about an add-on a couple of weeks ago. Turns out she was not exaggerating when she said "you'd better do it NOW"! Thank goodness, I did it! My use year is now sold out too (February). Diana
