Waitlist Woes...Questions

I just booked my first trip home (last minute - May 1-4). I was looking for a studio at BCV for all three nights. My guide was able to get me May 2/3 in a studio at BCV, but could not get the first night, so I took a studio at OKW and asked to be placed on the waitlist for the first night at BCV. Has anybody ever been on a waitlist? Is it rare that you get what you want??? I'll be happy either way, but just wanted to know what my chances were...

Of course, you're not the first one...

It's not rare at all...waitlist requests are filled all the time.

One suggestion: You may want to consider staying at OKW for your entire trip (if there is avialability) since it is only three nights. Think about whether you want to spend valuable vacation time repacking, moving to BCV, and checking in again.

If it were me, I'd stay put at one resort this trip.

Also - make sure you are on the list for "7 days prior". Some waitlists cancel out at 30 days but many a room has become available after that.

It may sound a little strange but if you don't have your waitlist come through in the next 2-3 weeks, call MS. Request they call the resort directly and see if inventory can be released. Play it up how you REALLY want to spend all 3 nights there and how magical it would be. Rooms have mysteriously become available this way:p

InstImpres, when should a call be made to MS for this? I am waitlisted for one night in early December and if a phone call might help I'd definately be willing to try it.

Thanks!:D

They tend to do this close to check-in if the hotel hasn't been able to get cash for all the non-DVC rooms. I would try mid-November.

Good luck

We got back from a one week stay at BWV 2 weeks ago that was a waitlist. Because my Dad died early in February after a long illness we couldn't make plans until the 'last minute' and we had points that were due to expire March 31.
My co-member called February 21. There was no availability for OKW (our home resort) or any other DVC at WDW for any of the weeks in March that we were looking for. We gave a 2-3 week window to get anything for a 5-7 day stay. She was able to book 5 nights in a one bedroom at HH with a waitlist for 2 more at the beginning or end of that stay. She also waitlisted us for anything at WDW-DVC or hotel or combination.
Ten days before we actually left we got a call that we had a one bedroom at BWV! We made the ressies and flight ressies and had a great time. Waitlisting does work. You need flexibility in dates and resorts. Go for it.
