Waitlist request and borrowing points

I just placed a waitlist request online and have a question that I hope someone here on tug can help answer.

I would like to add an additional night to my already 6 night reservation and would like the same type villa at the same resort. Just in case my waitlist doesn't come through I reserved 1 night at a different resort using less points. I have given permission to borrow additional points if the waitlist comes through. I have also given permission to cancel the 1 night reservation that the waitlist is replacing.

Here's my question, if the waitlist comes through will member services cancel my 1 night reservation and use those points before borrowing additional points to reserve the waitlist? I had to also borrow these points and would like to use them first before borrowing additional points.

Yes, they should use the points from the one night reservation to be cancelled and then just borrow the difference. Filling waitlists is done by a person so it's not always done quite as it should be so just verify what points were used if your waitlist does fill.
