Waiting for SWA tix

If I wait until October to get SWA tix for April 2006 during Sprink Break, do I have a good chance of getting the tix? Should I even take the risk of waiting because of the chance I won't get?

And on that note, what prices should I be able to get for April 2006: JFk to Orlando.

We traveled to MCO the first week of April 2005. I just checked, we purchased our tickets on December 9, 2004. This was the first day tickets were available for April-May flights. I don't know what will happen in 2006, but I'd expect similar timeframes.

I can't help you with fares from JFK. We flew from Indianapolis. The IND-MCO flights were $59, $79, and $99 (plus taxes and fees). All the $59 fares ( for Spring Break weekend flights) were gone within 3 or 4 hours, the $79 fares were gone after a few days. If you are able to travel midweek, you should have several days to able to snag the lowest rates.

SW doesn't fly from JFK. The way jet fuel prices are going I wouldn't count on the deeply discounted sub $150 R/T fares we got in the past. I'd probably grab anything around $200 R/T. You might get a better deal if you're flexible a day or two on your dates.

SW is getting better, from their prespecitve, of limiting the number of discounted seats on flights that would sell out without deeply discounting seats. Fr evening and Sat at the beginning of Spring break might have very few discounted seats. SW full price seats may actaully be a good deal on those dates.

if you're flying out of JFK or LGA, try delta/song ~ we norm get a very good deal on their website.
we're flying on SWA out of islip in aug, & just like last year on SWA, are paying more for the convenience (btw, we really like islip airport, just wish there were more direct flights to MCO BESIDES "cattlecar" SWA ).

I have to agree, if you want JFK, check Song out of both JFK and Laguardia. My last 2 trips were $59 each way.

Yeah, but it's so expensive for an April trip right now. It's around $320 r/t.
