Wahines on Tour - Hawaii and peek at Aulani! LAST DAY IN THE SUNSHINE UPDATE 8/6

GREAT update! I love all the pictures, how incredibly neat.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I'll bet your boys would have fun on that ship!

After seeing where everyone else sleeps, I think Jim would not mind the closet sized room to himself. I love seeing pictures of everything. The plaque regarding Japan's surrender is fantastic. Neither of my FIL's (both served in the Navy) ever mentioned there was a dentist on the ship. That is awesome. I've been going to the dentist every six months since I've had teeth. My DH skips years at a time. Even the men on ships do not have an excuse to skip it!

I think you're right about the bunk upgrades! :thumbsup2

Hmmm, good point. Didn't even think about that. Do you work for a dentist? Just curious - DDIL is a hygienest and she says things like that! :rotfl2:

I'm going to check out your TR - I'm thinking you went to DLR?:cool1:

That is a great pictorial tour of the USS Missouri! Thanks!

You're welcome - and thank you for reading!

Tammie, I know I said it before, but I just LOVE your photos and the comments!!!
It's amazing to be able to see all that. Thank you SO MUCH for posting.

I do not work. If I did work for a dentist, I would make my husband go more often. Teeth are so important. Both of my boys had their first appt right at age one.

Yes, we went to Cars Land, I mean Disneyland. :)

As always, Karin, I am so happy you are along for the ride!:cheer2:

Just reading your TR - now I feel like I know you!

That is what I love about the DIS. I feel like I know so many people I've never met. I was already feeling like I knew you too.

Sorry to interfere, but what you said is just perfectly right. I have met so many wonderful people here on the DISboards (and even met some of them in real life) and I always have the feeling that I have known them all for a long time. ;) :thumbsup2

It is neat to see that many other people feel the same way. :)

Great shots on the Mo, Tammie. My fave is the close up of the surrender plaque. I was so looking forward to seeing it, but your photo is a close second.

I also got a kick out of Captain Stubing. The Loooove Boat!

So true - alot of us have made real friendships and have spent time together in real life because of the DIS

We're kind of like the trekkies! We have a common bond in Disney, and I think most of us share like values, too!

Thank you! I'm glad the plaque came out well enough to read here.

The Loooove Boat :rotfl2: I wonder if they have that one on TVLand?

I am catching up finally, so I’ve read some of the older updates. It is nice that you were able to travel with Jim while he was working. Crap never let us travel with him. He even said we could not come when his job was sending him to Orlando. Luckily, that trip got canceled, so he never got to go either. Your hotel looks fine. Luckily for me, I rarely sue a blow dryer. The picture of Jesse being Tarzan is great. That was nice of Jim to be the designated driver. I do not drink at all, so that is a role I have filled a few times. Exchange shopping is fun. It has been years since I’ve done it. My MIL took us. How nice of you to take Jesse out. It looks like you had a great time too.

Hey! Thanks for reading and getting caught up. I rarely SUE a hair dryer, either -they don't usually pay, even if you win! :lmao: (sorry, couldn't resist)

Now, if Jim was going to Orlando and said I couldn't go, I would go anyway, and stay somewhere else and take the kids and tell him he can't come for dinner!:rotfl2:

We were plenty comfy - and free is good, so as long as it was clean, and the bed is comfortable, we are fine. Plus, it was HAWAII!

It was fun to have Jesse along, even if he is growing up. I'll bet Michelle misses him this Summer - he is working all Summer as a lifeguard at a camp.

I was reading you this morning, and then I had to get ready for work - trying to catch up on yours, too!

I do not like seafood or alcohol, so I cannot add much on the crab or the Mai Tai other than sorry about the crab, and I am glad you liked the drink. Aulani is beautiful. I love how the ceiling looks like the A in the logo. The outdoor seating at ‘Ama ‘Ama does look like it is in the water. I did a double take to see that there are stones underneath the table rather than water. The inlay at Kalepa’s is neat. Leave it to Hawaii to have flip flops (no sandals) imprinted into the floor. Crap and I never shop together either. One of us always leaves the other. He takes way too long to make a decision, and he leaves before I even start. I was wondering why she was carefully wrapping a towel until you wrote that it was $40. It would make me feel better to have it nicely wrapped too. There is no way Crap would not tease me no matter how nicely it was wrapped.

Seeing all the pictures of Aulani is getting me super excited about staying there. I priced it recently and gasped. For those prices, I do not know if I will be able to talk Crap into staying there. We’ll see how it goes. Everything there is so beautiful. Aunties looks so nice.

Sea Life Park is beautiful. Glad you got such a great deal. I had never heard of a wholphin, so I followed your wiki link. Thank goodness an actual whale did not impregnate a dolphin. It probably would have split her in two. The Royal Swim sounds like a lot of fun. Good thing Jesse got to do that. Thank goodness there was a backup camera when the battery died even if it was not as good as the first one. Cool turles. I always think of Crush when I see them now. Disney is always on my mind.

The Spring Game looks like it was a lot of fun. Even though your team lost, it looks like everyone had a great day. Your grandkids are beautiful. If the team won with mostly freshmen, they probably will be a team to watch next year. Those rose bowl rings are fantastic. I thought the rose bowl was the final game of the season, so I do not know a lot about college football. It is awesome that Jim met Tony Dungy even if he was too busy to take a picture with him. Evan is cute too. I like his shirt. That is a cool jersey Jim got. As much as I love the Olive Garden, we hardly eat there anymore. The waits are always too long. Glad you got to sit together. Evan with the chocolate milk is so adorable!

Excellent pictures of the tour so far. When you said you saw a blow hole, I was looking for a whale. :lmao: I cannot wait to learn what a wahine is.

I had to read that twice to get it. :rotfl2: (Xander who is reading while I am typing just called that a swimming smiley face. His backfloat is the best of his swimming skills, so it makes sense he saw it that way). :lmao:

Kim, Aulani is amazing, from the first moment you lay eyes on it. Disney really got this one right! We can't afford to stay there, except for using DVC points! I am so excited to plan it, and it will actually be a couple of years before we have time - we have too many things planned already!

Glad you enjoyed the Sea Life chapter. I didn't like seeing "Crush" just sitting around eating lettuce in that little area. I hope they take them out to "big water" when everyone goes home.

Yes, the Ducks will be a team to watch this year for sure! DBIL was in Vegas and placed a bet for Jim for the Ducks to win the Championship, so we will be watching for sure! :thumbsup2 Too bad we won't be going to any of the games, except when they come to AZ.

Thanks for all your comments!

To my loyal readers, and the not so loyal ones, too :rotfl2: I am sorry it is taking so long to deliver the pineapple - life is like that sometimes. I will do an update or two this weekend, I promise! happy Friday!

Ditto.
Both to being behind in posting chapters and in my reading.
No worries! :goodvibes

No worries, Tammie!
We all know that sometimes real life gets the better of us. I will still be here, when you have time to update again. ;)

The “70s” restaurant sounds interesting, but I am glad you all enjoyed your bun-less food. Thanks for the emoticon with the umbrella. It really helped me picture you there. Good thing you never spun around like the other lady. That wind is crazy, but the view from up there is beautiful.

I got chills from the cemetery pictures. It is hard to think of all the great soldiers who died for us without getting emotional. What a lovely final resting place the Punch Bowl is! I’ve heard of Ernie Pyle. Until seeing that, I did not know he was buried in a military cemetery. That is a nice honor.

It seems like you are going to a lot of historical sites. I had no idea they were all close enough together to see in one trip. When I am on vacation, I want to try things we cannot get at home. I would have gone to Schooners with you over Ruby Tuesdays.

Yay for the rain day. It seems like you all had a nice relaxing day. How nice to get bonus time with your hubby when you were not expecting it. Food trucks are often gems in my opinion. I love the photos of all you guys on the beach. What a beautiful place to take photos!

That waiter sounds pretty mean. I am glad Jesse at even more after the cake, since he added $9 to his bill. You had a lot of Mai Tais on this trip. My Uncle always talks about how great they are, so it is neat to see they keep getting made differently everywhere you go. Love that picture of Jim holding his and your drink. I cannot see the Mickey’s in his shirt, but it seems like a cute Disney dress you have.

:yay: again to your July 2013 Grand Gathering. That is awesome!

I would have rather spent time at the beach than shop too. We can shop anytime. How often can we go to the beach (if of course you do not live in a beach city)? Smart decision to get to the beach in the morning and get more than 90 minutes there. Glad the weather finally cleared up for you. I am all caught up now, since I started with the luau.

No worries. It gave me a chance to catch up.

Yes, the 70's golf course was interesting, to be sure! Before we got to Hawaii, I was picturing some swanky golf club, out on a bluff, overlooking a sweeping plain with gentle little knolls, flowers blooming all around, doves circling above and bluebirds singing, pink sky above, with cotton candy clouds... :rotfl2: I am a Disney girl, right?

It was good to remember the sacrifices.
Well, I guess that waiter got what he asked for. I hope he learned his lesson. He was probably mad because he wanted more left over cake for himself!

Since you are caught up, I'd better get to writing. :goodvibes
