Gee, thanks for the unpleasantness. Was it really necessary for you to respond to my post if it bothered you that much? ...

Sorry my tone was offensive you posted.
Guess that strategy cost me and I have learned a lesson

and I really didn't understand what you meant. I thought he were talking about making a rack rate reservation and I didn't think that would have helped you.

I guess you were disappointed you didn't call early enough to get the rate you want. I'd keep calling Disney may release more rooms or people may cancel.

hey jenjer - thanks for your spinkling of pixie dust! i got through and the cm hunted around until he found something for me. see ya there. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :cheer2:

I just needed one night, and I couldn't get it either. I wanted WL standard for May 28th, nope nada....none for AKL standard either.... must be the holiday weekend. I ended up booking at Pop for $74. It's just one night, and then we'll be moving over to Old Key West for 7 nights.

I have found alot of times that if you need to book only 1-4 nites. you cannot get it with a discount. you might want to try booking for a "longer" time then dropping days

Hey Lewis, sorry if I sounded snippy. The last thing that I would ever want is to get involved in controversy here on the DISboard, a place that has been nothing but helpful and supportive to me. I did not phrase my original post very well, I agree. FWIW, I agree with you 100% that vacations shouldn't be planned if you don't anticipate paying rack nor do I take AP rates for granted. I get your point too, that some who had pre-existing resies still missed out. I was just hopeful that I could sneak this trip in at the very last minute and wanted to vent a little about my lack of success after reading page after page of happier-ending stories. It wouldn't have been the end of the world but it has worked out for me.

I think my biggest lesson learned here: Sue Ellen ROCKS and I am letting her handle my ressies from now on.

Hey Jen!

I think your problem might have been that there is a minimum of 4 nights because of the fact that you are looking at a holiday weekend.

I booked two separate ressies for my hubby and I -- 5 nights at AKL and 3 nights at the Poly and when I asked about the Poly, the CM had to get special permission from a supervisor to override the system in order to book only 3 nights for us during the Memorial Day weekend. So that may be your problem.

I know it doesn't help your situation any, but it might have been nice if the CM had informed you of that reason.

Thanks for the tip!

I'll remember that next time I try a DVC/Deluxe split stay. Since DH isn't too sure about staying 1 more night for our May/June trip, I think keeping our reservation at Pop for $74 will soften the blow. :teeth:

Funny reply here--I finally got my passholder email!!---HAHAHAHAH!!

And I have had my ressie since last night-----

The idea that you SHOULD have known about the AP discounts is just INSANE.

I made my daily call to CRO yesterday, and then spent two hours on these boards last night. What was I doing when the post about AP codes happened? Um, I don't know ... living!

I did check the DIS before I went to sleep, after CRO closed down, and spent the rest of the night kicking myself because I had missed my chance to manipulate some poor CM into trying the code for me.

I started calling at 5:55 central time this morning, was put on hold, got disconnected at 6:25, called back, and finally got throught at 8:16. I DID get the days I wanted ...

But it was all luck. No one should tell you SHOULD have known. It's not like getting Cinderella's Royal Table priority seatings. That's ridiculous, too, but at least you can PLAN for it.

Sorry if I used this thread to vent. This whole codes thing is wigging me out. We've been WDW-ing once or twice a year since 1998, and I have never witnessed so much rate drama.

Call again. As I posted in another message, dh was first told that no AP rate rooms were left at AKL for the week of May 21-28. We booked woods view (no standard view available) at WL. We both thought it was odd that AKL was fully booked before WL. We had never experienced this before. Anyway, dh called back and got AKL for the week we wanted. Don't give up.

Keep calling back--people at this point keep dropping and re-arranging and I am sure that there will be more released when some cancel out completely---I have helped others in the past get that AP code as much as 48 hours after!!

good luck!!

As far as the email goes, the CM may have said they went out last night, but at 4:00 the morning mine wasn't in MY email box! Luckily, I 'dropped by' the Disboards this morning at work before I clocked on. I didn't see my email notice until lunchtime!

Try calling back in a few days. I called the first day AP rates came out last year for our Jan trip and couldnt get AKL or WL. I called back a few days later and suddenly there were rooms available. Good luck. And I know what you mean by not booking - we never book before codes come out and I take what is available. I think Disney rack rates are overpriced. PS My DH and I both have AP and no email at either one of our email addresses as of 7:50 Wed evening. So, not only no advance notice here.. no notice at all!!! :sad2:

Jen,

I got my "advance" email at 9:35 a.m. this morning. I was already at work. However, I did call by chance and got a room at WL (woods view, not standard like I would have preferred), but at least was able to get a ressie with a code. :cool1:

I think that you not getting the availability was a downer, but it really made for a bad experience that you got a nasty CM. I tried changing my ressie and must have gotten the same CM, cause she was extremely rude and told me "I should have known better" about the email. I was so thrown off that I quickly hung up and called back. I have had some really great CM's in the past and know her attitude was not the majority. Hope your pixie dust is what you wanted!!!!! :earsgirl:

I'm so sorry you had to talk to such a rude CM! I hope you are able to get the days you want. Sometimes things do open up later!
