W.I.S.H.-Wide Monday Mixer!

(even though all those race clippies are a little intimidating). :flower3:
We all just started with one step at a time. :goodvibes yes, some of us have become addicted, but all started the same way.

Corinna Well now I may have to get the ice cream maker ready for some work. My DD gave me the book "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz for Christmas and I have yet to make any ice cream. I am definitely going to have to remedy that. I think the hard part will be deciding on a flavor!

Maura

Oh, that is definitely the hard part! The good news is, you can always try something different next time, I suppose!

Lisa! So glad you stopped by - those shakes sound so good. As for the race clippies, don't let them scare you off - like Carrie said, we were all new to racing at some point! We're all just regular folks, really, and whether you're super-speedy or the very last one across the finish line, or if, as happens sometimes, you can't keep ahead of the pace requirement and get swept, there is support here for everyone.

DLF>DNF>>DNS!
Dead Last Finish is greater than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start!

WISH gave many, many of us the courage to start!

Thanks again to everyone who attended this first mixer of the year! I'll post another ice-breaker question here next Monday!

I realize this is a day late, but no one has yet posted MY favorite.

The *adult* milkshakes at Sci-Fi diner. OMG, just what the Dr. ordered

Adult beverages? Did I hear adult beverages? :listen:

A vote for the orange sherbet shake at Beaches and Cream. DH and DS just "discovered" Beaches and Cream this trip -- I think they went three or four times in eight days! :rotfl2: I think I will have to try those Mickey Ice Cream sandwiches -- they are a favorite of mine!

Thanks for hostessing the mixer, corinnak, it's fun to chatter with the event folks (even though all those race clippies are a little intimidating). :flower3:

Awww, like other said, we all start the same way, DLF > DNF >> DNS! Welcome to the events side of WISH. I hope you--and everyone--come back often! :goodvibes

And Maura? An ice-cream make and book of recipes?! Do you accept marriage proposals? After all, you do bring a substantial dowry to the table. :rotfl2:

Corinna...Ghiradelli's Espresso Escape - two scoops of espresso chip ice cream, dark chocolate hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and a square of Espresso Escape Intense Dark chocolate. :)

I did manage to get there during the Marathon trip. Mom and I froze inside eating our sundaes LOL But they were well worth it.

Debra I don't think I ever mentioned that I did get a chocolate shake immediately after the Marathon. Thanks alot! I couldn't get that out of my head :thumbsup2 Course the guy who made it put a lid on it that didn't have a hole for the straw! What kind of sick person gives a shake to someone who just finished the Marathon without a place to stick the straw? But oh did that ever taste yummy! I'm sure it helped with my recovery :lmao:

I'm a day late, but thought I'd jump in anyway! No Way Jose is on my list of things to do in March! I CAN'T WAIT! It looks so yummy :thumbsup2

I had this incredible pineapple-orange smoothie at MK in November over by the TTA that was heavenly

..and i know it said on property, but we fell in love with Twistee Treat (about 1 mile away) too...shhhhhh - great prices, good ice cream and a drive thru! LOL

I've wanted to try this one! I don't do caffeine on a regular basis and I'm afraid I'll be up all night even if I eat it early in the day, but I do love coffee ice cream!

Yum! Adult beverages -- I am so there! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the kind words! It's my own hang up but you all inspire me to see if maybe I've been wrong all these years and I really am a runner! :thumbsup2

Thanks again for doing this corinna, it is a nice way to get both sides of the WISH boards together! :flower3:

My fav used to be a strawberry swirl at the Enchanted Grove near the Tea Cups but they changed the menu and are no longer. :sad1:
Never tried the strawberry.
I'm all about the hot fudge sundae at Ghiradelli's.

However, my favorite used to be the Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland. Anyone else remember these, back when they were made with real orange juice? Now they sell them at the dole whip stand, but they're made with a disappointing orange-flavored softserve. :sad2:
Stretching out the Monday mixer to midweek...

Oh yes, Citrus Swirl and one for each hand too! USED to be my absolute favorite. They dumbed down the recipe and now it is too sweet. It was the ONLY ice cream I ever looked forward to and it's gone. Sigh.

I have moved on to Ghiradelli now.

Lisa, glad you are chatting here. We love that you are here. Don't feel intimidated. We all belong here no matter what the level or how many clippies.

You could be a runner, walker, some combination. If you really want to see, I highly recommend reading Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham. Very inspirational and has very do-able plans. I'll bet MANY here never thought they were a runner until they gave it a whirl.

Okay, this thread has inspired me to do the first recipe out of my newest cookbook. I have started making Tin Roof ice cream--homemade vanlla ice cream with homeamade fudge ripple and homemade chocolate covered peanuts. If I gain a few pound this weekend, it's WISH's fault!

Maura

The Ben and Jerry's ice cream recipe book is yummy too! We use their Sweet Cream base recipe a LOT!

So I know I'm not technically a WISHer, but I'm the daughter of one, and I'm running the Indy half marathon, so I'm going to be bold and post anyway. And MouseDogMom told me it hadn't been mentioned yet.

Itzakadoozie. Hello, best thing ever, and fun to say. The only downside is that they're only offered in Epcot. But I love them!!! Perfect excuse not to go into Innoventions, because you have to finish it. And it's long enough to last Dad's entire attention span.

Good morning and welcome to the Monday Mixer! This week's question is a fabulous two-part musical extravaganza:

1. Anyone that runs/works out with music have a sweet spot on their playlist that they repeat over and over for an energy boost in the rough patches?

2. Share, if you dare, your musical guilty pleasure. This may be the same as your answer for question 1 (many of us find ourselves grooving to things on the treadmill that we'd never listen to in the car!) or it could be completely useless for working out - whatever it is, we want all the gory details!

Here are some mimosas to start the day off with a kick:

Gosh, I think my Swet spot and guilty pleasure are the same. Movin' Right Along by the Muppets. Just love that song to run to! :confused3

Mmmmmmm, what a nice drink to hit the spot for a good start to the morning...
Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall is the one song that has a beat that can always pick me up. I also like Go the Distance for some Disney related pre or early run motivation.
My guilty pleasure isn't any one song, it is either just randonly tuning to stations I would not normally listen to on the XM Radio and rocking out to something that catches my attention. This really perplexes my daughters, but then they always thought I was crazy anyway, so I figure why not go with it! It took them two years to figure out that the XM Radio shows the song information on the screen--for a long time they thought I really knew the all names of these songs and singers. :rotfl: My other guilty pleasure is podcasts, generally on Disney, running or both. If I can get in a run on a good Disney podcast, then I am just where I want to be sometimes.

I fully expect to see so many great answers to these questions that will have me finding them on iTunes later tonight.

Good morning and welcome to the Monday Mixer! This week's question ..... for an energy boost in the rough patches?

Some of these songs seem to boost me when I need it -

Elton John - Saturday Nights All Right for Fighting
Nickelback - Rockstar
Brittany Spears - Piece of Me/ or Toxic
Black Crowes- Hard to Handle
Stevie Wonder - Boogie on Reggae Woman
Earth, Wind and Fire - Shining Star
Bee Gees- Jive Talkin
The Tractors - Baby Likes to Rock It

I wish I had my MP3 player at work... but the ones that stick out in my memory for the extra boost are:

Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins
Footloose - Kenny Loggins
Let's Hear it for the Boys - Denise Williams

(Apparently I liked Footloose?)

And I'll just admit it, my guilty pleasure is the Spice Girls. Wouldn't listen to them any other time, but absolutely love to run to any of their music!

Jackie
