Hi All, we will be going home to VWL for the first time in May, we tried to get BCV which is also our home but they were booked up.we wanted to stay at the VWL during the december trip we are planning and stay at BCV this trip.i am feeling a little disappointed , i know VWL is beautiful but wanted to be a little closer to epcot and mgm .so tell me why i need to be happier staying at the VWL rather than BCV.tell me all the wonderful experiences you had at VWL:p
thanks, misty

We own at BWV and love being close to all the action and convenience of that location but we have done a small add at WLV and have stayed there and have booked there for this Aug. vacation.I am sure you will be happy with the special Resort. Don't worry-be happy I'm sure it'll be great.

Look at it this way - you've got 39 more years to stay at BC! And any Disney resort is tops in its class.

We will be at VWL in May. DH insisted that be our first trip home. Then BC in September.

Woo Hoo!

From one NCer to another, you will LOVE VWL!! It is very peaceful and relaxing which is nice after a day at the parks. You have very quick access to MK by boat and you can get to EPCOT and MGM fairly quick by bus. A little hint, if TTC bus is there before EPCOT bus, take TTC to monorail, it seems faster.

When we purchased last year I was really hoping BWV would still be available and was a little dissapointed that only thing selling was VWL. Well after my 1st trip home, the dissapointment and doubt went out the window and is at the bottom of Bay Lake. Dont get me wrong, I am looking forward to staying at BWV and BCV someday and being up in the middle of the action, and OKW is on my list also, but the serenity of VWL after a long day sure is soothing to a tired body.

Let your doubts go, its a DVC property so you know it will be 1st rate, no matter which place your staying, have fun, you will love it!!

thanks all, i know we will love VWL. we have already stayed at OKW and we love it there and we have toured VWL,BCV AND BWV.i know we will be happy there.we will be in a studio any certain area we should request?
thanks,misty:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I would request a higher floor that overlooks the pool. We stayed there in January, our first trip home to our home resort and it was even better than I imagined! We loved riding the ferry to the Magic Kingdom and we went over to Fort Wilderness to the Trails End Buffet for dinner one night. You can also easily get to FW for the Petting Zoo, a carriage or hay ride, or Chip n Dales sing-a-long and Disney Movie each night.

Just walking around the lodge itself is amazing too. We had a couple of drizzly days so we got a list of hidden mickeys clues from guest services and it was a great way to explore places in the lodge that we might not otherwise have looked at. Reading a book by the fireplace in the VWL lobby is a great way to relax, and Sturdy Branches is a great place to workout with more equipment than I expected to see. Watching the electric water pageant at night was another treat!
It's close to the Magic Kingdom, but feels so remote, and it's unlike the other DVC resorts. I love the other DVC's but VWL is themed so entirely different from the others.

I've seen this type of thread before where VWL was the second choice and the poster wanted to be talked into being excited about VWL. I imagine you'll come back with your expectations far exceeded. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

Oh - you will be there when the wild flowers are in bloom - this is lovely - really lovely! they are at the entrance (car) - and close to the top area where you check in - between the bus stop and the lobby -

Walk over to FW - it is a beautiful path - sometimes you can see wildlife -

the resort itself is beautiful (as had been say) - you will love going to the restuarant or snack food area and not have to worth about getting wet (well I appreciate it) - you will love the snack area (BCV doesn't have anything like it) - where you can get a hamburger or do self-serve.

it has a nice arcade and a very nice gift shop (the Villas are closer to both than some rooms in the lodge)

the bus stop is right outside the connecting path so again you are closer to the bus stop than the lodge.

Now the boat to the MK is further away but not a great deal -
be sure to check the geyser - the hot and cold spas (I think the cold spa especially in May) will be appreciated.

Don't forget one night at least to see the EWP. it on the beach - you can sit on the patio around the outside pool bar and still see it. If you don't want to go in the sand.

hi, how long of a walk is it to get to FW? we are thinking about breakfast there one morning and seeing hoop de doo.
thanks, misty

You won't be sorry and you'll miss it when you leave! + what everyone else said. :teeth:

Before AKL came along, WL was the most returned-to hotel on property. Lots of people love it, yet us VWL owners almost have to be apologists (said tongue-in-cheek, not defensively). We have stayed at all of the WDW DVC resorts, and VWL is consistently our favorite. After a frenetic day at the parks the tranquil atmosphere of VWL settles us right down. Of course, any place that plays Aaron Copeland over the PA is going to win me over. When it comes to transporting the guest to another place, VWL has no equal.

I also don't get the whole location thing. Lets face it, WDW isn't all that big a place. Of course, that's from the perspective of someone who almost always drives. We take our car everywhere on property. BVC is walking distance from EPCOT - not a big deal. After a long day walking around Every Person Comes out Tired, who says, "We have to go back to our room now. I can't wait to walk some more!"? Car, bus, limo, even a hearse - just give me something where my feet don't have to hit the pavement after EPCOT.

If relaxation is a top vacation priority for you, as it is for us, VWL is the place for you. If you like lots of trees and peace and quiet, ditto. If you like to have a little fun, even on non-park days, the watermouses (watermice?) are faster than at BVC, too.

15 to 20 minutes it if less than a mile - very nice walk - also if you don't like to walk - look at the bus stop first - although I have heard that the buses don't have to go to FW anymore to go the parks - FW probably stills has a bus back and forth to WL (more restaurants) - so you could ride - if you want.

How are you folks doing?

We are looking forward to the next Tarheel DVCer gettogether! Maybe when it warms up a little we can try to get something going.

misty....everyone has done a great job explaining why you'll love VWL. It's a great place and I can't wait until our trip in June!

The suggestion by spiceycat to view the EWP at least one night is an excellent one. We sit on the chairs on the beach (have to get there a little early), enjoy an adult beverage, and let the magic take over.

You'll have a wonderful trip. If you have any desire to include relaxation in your vacation at all, you're staying at the right place! :)

At VWL I love sitting on the terrace w/ a view of the woods and feeling like I AM in the woods, yet knowing that MK and all of WDW is just a boat ride away. It is truely a relaxing resort vacation destination!!!
