VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

Can we still get everyday towel service if we pay for it? I know we used to be able to do it. If so do you know how much it is?
I'm sure as a service it is still available, Disney does not turn down money, however don't expect them to keep to the schedule if they're overworked. Probably best just to call when you need a few new ones.

I have a number of stories involving housekeepers, as we all probably do, and let's just say it's best to have a sense of humor and lots of patience as they're often overworked.

Some of my favorite housekeeping stories if they were written as Nancy Drew Mysteries:
  1. "The Mystery of the Broken Bed"
  2. "The Secret of the Three Fridges"
  3. "The Case of the Haunted Housekeeping Cart"
  4. "The Puzzle of the 40 Pillow Cases"
  5. "The Riddle of the Holy Linens"
  6. "The Hidden Sock Conspiracy"
  7. "The Mysterious Case of the Sopping Wet Floor"

Thanks. Sounds like a place we will avoid for sensory reasons. Ha!

Not only can Whispering Canyon be loud, there can be a lot of server shenanigans and interactions (don't ask for ketchup!! :goodvibes). We get a kick out of it, but it's definitely not for everyone - especially if there are sensory issues. Geyser Point will be much more relaxing :).

I’ve heard you can ask to be seated in an area a bit more away from the “happenings” where the servers won’t do their shenanigans. Not sure it’s true, but would make sense. Geyser Point is fantastic and the opposite of WC.

You can also let the server know you do not wish to participate. We ate there in May and actually I'd say it's toned way way down from what it used to be. I was a bit bummed out by that. If you've ever eaten at 50's Prime Time it's along those lines but different things. 50's Prime Time has been way toned down in our last couple of visits too. :(

Yeah there is an area to the back that is more quiet. We have been sat there a couple of times. I was kind of disappointed because of the fact that it wasn't in the midst of things. May work for someone who wants the quiet.

Yes, they will put you in that little elevated area behind the big fireplace and between Whispering Canyon and Territory Lounge.

Thanks for the info. We basically just stick to counter service on our trips anyway so we should be fine. I actually need to look at menus and have some sort of 'game plan' before our trip because I hate wandering around trying to figure out what our son might eat. Ha! So far the only menus I've really looked at in all of WDW are just the ones at Wilderness Lodge.

I was in the same predicament with my family and eating in Disney. The items they would eat were horrible on our bodies (5+ days of eating french fries with every meal will wear on you) and many of the non-fried items were not made to our specific likes/needs.

Grocery delivery to save the day - we got the cereals, yogurts, fruit, milk... and so on that we know we want to eat and there really is no cost considering it was all the same we'd order from the store at home. When staying at WDW my go-to is Walmart delivery as they're very reliable and carry the brands we know, but I've also used Amazon/Whole Foods and Wegoshop.

We just returned from our first stay at BRV. We all loved it!

I liked that it was small and a very short walk to WL. We had a 2BR villa which was great. The kitchen was very small (compared to other DVC resorts), but we weren't really cooking so that was ok. Just reheating food, using toaster, coffee maker, etc.

I found it odd that there were no cast members in the lobby area. At BLT, VGF and Kidani (all places we've stayed with separate DVC buildings) there were usually at least a cast member or two.

Another strange thing is that the left elevator was broken during our entire stay. This made waiting for the elevator at busy times frustrating.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay there and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

I know someone else on here can correct me if I'm wrong but the reason there wasn't anyone in the lobby I believe is because it is the first of the DVC's that are in a separate building. So they may have decided to do things differently afterward. Just my guess. Probably wrong lol

Glad you liked it! I'm pretty sure the kitchen is almost identical in size to the ones in SSR and BCV villas )(just stayed at BCV last week), but I might be mistaken. Definitely smaller than OKW, but then they all are.

They did have a CM at that desk in the BRV lobby pre-pandemic (the phone is still there and hooked up), but no one has returned since everything opened back up. We actually like that there is no one there. Makes it feel l more like "home" and less another spot for a DVC sales opportunity. Even though DVC is never pushing you or jumping out to grab you, a respite just from the signs, someone hovering and the potential for a sales opportunity (however subtle, and non aggressive) is welcome for us. At some point, we all know how to buy more points and where to go to get them, so I personally don't need reminding 24/7. I do hope they got that elevator fixed.

Welcome Home! Our next stay is 12/3-12/10.
