VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

Hi all - hope everyone is managing to stay cool - especially seeing how this is such a cool bunch 😁 - opinions please - I’ve got multiple ressies for December and not sure which to keep - I’ve got VWL for Dec 4-9 then BWV (BW view which I’ve never had before) Dec 9-11 and then VWL from 12-17 - trying to decide which VWL to keep, 4-9 or 12-17…I usually like to end with WL but Dec 17 for going home just seems too close to Christmas…
My opinion only, stay the whole time! Nice long vacation at 2 of my favorite resorts, and what a way to end it:cloud9:

@MsChristy12 and @smileyanna
:welcome: HOME !!!!!

Glad to have you both as Groupies! Technically, you don't have to own at VWL (or any resort) to be a Groupie, but isn't it nice knowing that you do? As with everyone, if you have any trip dates you'd like to share on Page 1, just send me "Conversation" note and I'll update the page with your information.

@TCRAIG

Personally, I'd do the latter VWL, 12-17 Dec. Still leaves you with plenty of time to settle in back home before the actual holiday. pirate:

We used to go to VWL a lot in early Dec, stay for 2 weeks and leave mid Dec., usually around our DDs Bday on the 15th. Tammy would always make sure we got Christmas decorations up, before or around Thanksgiving so once back home we could enjoy them for those last days leading up to Christmas Eve/day. We would try to get all presents wrapped before as well just to not stress all that needed to be done before we got back home.

It seemed to work out ok. Just sharing in case you are still on the fence.

I’m very impressed with you and Tammy’s organizational skills!

Great idea!! We're heading to UOF for OI Meetup and then to SS to resort hop the first week of December. We also got tickets to Jollywood Nights.

I'm gonna use that wrapping presents before we go tip although I have a feeling there will be a bit of shopping while we're there. Already planning to get decorations up early.

Haven’t posted here in a while, but wanted to drop in to say we’re heading home for Thanksgiving this year. Treating my DH’s side of the family, so my MIL will get to spend her favorite holiday with all of her kids and grandkids for the first time since my FIL passed away. Her health and mobility have been declining so we’ve really wanted to bring everyone together. I’m excited to have them all experience the Wilderness Lodge, too, as most of them have never stayed here.

We had a lot of debate as to what rooms to get, and originally I was going to split our stay (we’re going down a few days before the rest of my in-laws because most of them won’t be going to the parks, so we’re going early to do Christmas Party and Candlelight Processional and a few favorites first), so that I could save on points. Then my husband was diagnosed with cancer in April (part of the reason I haven’t posted much; he’s doing as well as can be and has finished chemotherapy and fingers crossed it stays gone!) and I had a “screw it, you only live once!”

So now we’ve got a Cabin booked for the 6 nights we’ll be there (and I’m debating if my son missing college classes is worth coming down for a 7th night!), and we’ll use the Cabin for all the family to gather, watch fireworks, and have Thanksgiving Dinner. I’ve got everyone else booked in Boulder Ridge studios for the 4 nights they’ll be there (a total of 5 studios). My SIL and her family (6 of them) are going to move to Bay Lake Tower 2 Bedroom Theme Park View for the last night, as our plan is to gather everyone there to watch the MK Fireworks together on our last night.

I don’t want summer and fall to end too quickly, but I’m really looking forward to “going home.” There’s just something magical about the Lodge that takes all my stress away. We also love the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but as my husband says: “AKL is an escape and I love it, but the Wilderness Lodge is like coming home.”

So sorry for all that your family has gone thru recently. Best wishes for your DH to get that cancer into remission!

That's a great sounding trip!!! What a wonderful get together to plan for everyone!

That’s a wonderful trip you have planned.
I hope and pray that your DH is cancer free!

Praying for your DH and his recovery to keep in a positive direction. Sounds like you folks have an awesome trip planned.

I hope the cancer stays away! Best wishes for that to happen. Wow that sounds like an amazing trip!

Don't want to go into the details because we probably all know what's going on but WOW there is some HEAVY Dis stuff happening. My big worry is this wonderful resource going away. I would hate to lose my wonderful groupie family. I really hope the Disboards isn't affected.
I must be out of the loop, what's going on?

I must be out of the loop, what's going on?
I found out on Facebook. (of course) :sad2: It said there was a thread about it I believe in addition to the more official statement.that doesn't state the why's just that he is out. The why's, if true, are not good.
