VWL December 2008 - Who Will Be There?

Thanks Wilderness Dad! We were sad about it too, but we are planning to go April 4-12, 2009 to VWL and take our friends that we had hoped to take at Christmas, so that is all that matters.

Cool beans! It's very nice that you are taking friends to our beloved lodge! That is very considerate of you.

Well I get to join in. We were supposed to be staying at the GF Dec 23-28 before heading over to BCV. Dh was not thrilled we were paying cash when we had points so I decided to call and see what they had. The guys at MS was just awesome and he could not believe that there was a one bedroom for 12/23-12/28!! I was in shock and very excited. See you all in Dec!!

Believe me...I felt very lucky. It was like pulling teeth to get my BCV ressie because I called at 10 months. I never expected the VWL thing to happen. I just must have called at the right time.

Can anyone tell me if they have any special events on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day??

That is great!!! We will be there those days as well. It is very shocking that they had room avaliable, but glad for you that they did.

Thanks, I'll give the siggy another try. I was unsuccessful a few weeks ago and gave up.

Just got reservations today for VWL! I was really surprised we could get in at such a short notice. DH decided he wanted to go to the Very Merry Christmas Party on 12/19. We will be there December 19th and 20th and then we will move to AKV Dec 20 - 26.

Usually the studios and 2-br's get gobbled up first. I wonder if there will be more availability at VWL starting tomorrow when people book Kidani. Some who own at both resorts may switch a VWL vacation for an AKV Kidani vacation. We shall see!

I am surprised to keep seeing people getting VWL ressie's so late. We are booked in Dec. and my parents have been trying to get a room and were put on a waitlist awhile back and nothing. They are not DVCer's however. They did book at Old Key West, but love the lodge so much that they were really hoping to get it. Oh well, they still have a room and can come over to visit us!! Congrats on getting your room, if you have never been to the lodge I am sure you will love it.

We've stayed in the lodge several times and love it. We got concierge last Christmas at the last minute! This is our first DVC Christmas.

There is still a lot of time left, so hopefully it will come through. My DH keeps telling me that when I see our airline tickets are $653 each! We usually pay around $200. There is still time left....there is still time left. I don't want to drive.

I have never done Christmas day at WL, but you have me interested. I am now looking to see what the points requirements will be...

Am now thinking about 12/27/09 - 1/2/10. That would take 310 points for a 2-br.

DW doesn't like crowds though and I don't like them either. Any tips on surviving during this timeframe? (This post also serves as a bump. )
