We are a family of 4. We have 2 young Daughters, 9yr. & 11yrs.

We are going to WDW for Christmas, 10 nights in all. Dec 23rd - Jan 2nd.

We have a 1 bedroom booked at our home resort, BWV, 28th - 2nd.

I have enough points to stay in a studio for the 1st 5 nights anywhere.

We have never stayed in a DVC resort as a family. I have been to SSR this past April with my sister.

We have either eaten, or walked through each DVC resort except Beach Club.

So, I know there may be some resorts that I have "0" chance of getting a studio for that time. But I'm willing to try.

So, now, knowing all this, please vote where we should stay over the Christmas holiday!

Thanks all!

If you can swing it, the Wilderness Lodge. Great, great atmosphere for Christmas!! (But, like you said, you might have problems reserving it...but maybe some Pixie Dust will come your way.) :thumbsup2

Jambo. Big tree, similar lobby to WL, and you'll actually be able to book it if you call at 7 months.

my 7 months is next week. I can't wait to call! I know, it's sickening, it's a disease.

I've just thrown around every single resort in my head. Now I need other peoples opinions. The husband is no help, he says "wherever." lol.:confused3

Without a doubt, Wilderness Lodge.
I  Wilderness Lodge  at Christmastime. I love it so much that we did an add-on there specifically for the 11 month booking advantage to get what I want during December. DH is so accommodating!

We enjoy traveling to all the deluxe/dvc resorts during the holidays to see and experience the decorations and special activities. Our daughter (28yrs) says this is an 'old folks' thing and finds no pleasure in it whatsoever.:confused3

Your girls would probably enjoy the Beach Club and the opportunity to utilize Stormalong Bay plus the walking distance to Epcot can't be beat. It's Christmas and it's Disney, you'll enjoy wherever you end up. Let us know what you decide.

I agree, try to reserve the Wilderness Lodge, it's beautiful year round but when the Christmas decorations go up, it's really beautiful. It's the place to be at Christmas.

This is a hard time of the year for me to visit Disney both because of availability and point cost but once we did manage to get into AKV, Jambo right after Thanksgiving. The decorations and the X-Mas spirit were so alive and wonderous throughout the lobby and the resort, including Animal Kingdom itself. It was absolutly breath taking. Granted that each resort does it's own Christmas thing, I thought that Jambo took home the prize.

Is there anything "special" at any of the DVC resorts for Christmas or New Years eve? Like, Santa, etc...?

I know the decorations are special to see just by themselves.

We're always home by the 23rd so have never stayed Christmas Eve, Day or over New Years.

We have seen/heard local choral groups that will come in and sing Christmas songs, a bell choir, brass quartet, pianist and string instruments. I can't give you specific resorts though the Grand Floridian always has something happening. You'll receive a list when you check in what entertainment will be available at your resort. I try to make ADR's at each resort, arrive early to enjoy the decorations and experience the evenings entertainment.

NOT Wilderness Lodge, NO WAY, NO HOW, DON'T EVEN TRY IT.:rolleyes1

Oh, wait a minute, I'm confused :confused3, are you going to get a Studio or a 1BR? If you are going to get a Studio, then by all means, for sure, absolutely, do Wilderness Lodge. If it's a 1BR, then no, you need to save that ressie for us! :rotfl: :flower3:

In all seriousness WL is a great place around Christmas. We stayed the week before and it was wonderful! They do have Santa at most resorts just before Christmas along with a lot of other activites.

We will be at Disney 12/30 - 1/2 have ressies at SSR but will try to switch to either BLT or WL @ 7 months.

Good Luck with your desicion!

VWL w/o a doubt if you can get it!!:thumbsup2 It is a wonderful place in the winter!!

It will have to be a studio for the 1st part of our vacation, 23rd - 28th of Dec.

The we have a 1 bedroom at BWV already reserved for the last half, 28th - 2nd of Jan.

Can't afford a 1 bedroom the whole time. So, we have to go with a studio the first 5 days.

I'll be happy with whatever I'm in, studio, or 1 bedroom.

It looks like VWL is coming out on top.

We ate at WCC last trip. We had a blast. We didn't walk around too much, we were stuffed full of the skillet and could barely make it back to the boat. lol.

I have two DD's the same age. In Feb we are doing a split trip --BWV and The BLT-- Can't wait.

So I voted for the BLT. The reason why is that it just is so convenient to the MK and the MK is going to be open late all week. How nice will it be just to hop on the monorail and be "home" in 5 minutes. (PRETTY AWESOME). With the heavy crowds that week, I'd want easy access to the hotel so you can tour in the late evening, but still get home at a reasonable hour. We left the MK at 10:15 and never got home to the BW till 11:00-- 45 minutes to get home. IMHO, I just think its priceless to be so close. Plus the BLT is brand new and who knows if you will ever get the chance to stay there again.

Plus you'll be able to restaurant hop and pool hop to the GF & POLY easily with the monorail.

You'll have a great vacation no matter what hotel you choose.

Wilderness lodge is our home resort and we're there for christmas all the time. And yep, snowball's chance to stay there if you haven't booked already...

Tink N Bell - You know, you do make a valid point. But....do you really think there will be studios open for Christmas?

Here's another vote for Wilderness Lodge..........you won't be disappointed. Good luck in getting a room there.

I would stay at either Wilderness Lodge or AKL. Simply because I think their holiday decorations are the most fun!
SSR tends to be a bit bland for me over the holidays.
