VMK_Zev on "taken"

Somebody in VMK_Zev's room asked about having a club against taken. Here was his response:

Sometimes I wish taken was against the values. I hate sitting down in a room and three girls swarm me to ask if I'm taken/want to be taken. And that's even after posting a signature on my character that I don't want to be taken. I think that's harassment and that IS against the values. I love when I tell them to read the signature and they ignore it and beg and beg and beg, and then they cry and ask if they're pretty enough, and then they cry some more and say I'm mean, and then they cry me a river and request to be my friend!?! I want to be nice to everyone but it wastes SOOOO much time. Who else has a problem with this taken issue?

I don't like where the vmk staff stands on this, but I know there is nothing they can do.

So Annoying!!!! I hate it so much, its ridiculous!! Its not just the asking if you're taken either, its the crying if you say you're not into that, its the saying you're ugly if you say no (1. its a game, 2. nine times out of ten they've only seen the back of your characters head!!) and its the going around asking everyone in the room if they're taken. ARGH!!!

What's more annoying is that staff seem to now be telling people its ok. Nearly everyone I know in the game dislikes this practice that has now become common place. I agree with darkpraxis, to me this is harrassment because it annoys me so. More should be done to govern this whole thing in my opinion and the fact that staff look like they endorse it now annoys me even more.

I think it is just plan disturbing ! First you are playing happily with other friends on vmk and then suddenly someone walks up to you and asks you if you are "taken" or not ! ! sometimes its embrassing when you say "yes" or like "dont want to be" bc they run away -crying- and telling everyone someone hurt their "feelings"

Are you kidding me! You mean to tell me that a bunch of strangers asking stragers if he/she is "taken" is okay!!?? Do they realize that is a family game for the people who wish to do something a little disney? This shocks me considering this "taken" junk is not disney like at all! I am sick and tired of going somewhere and hearing people fill this kingdom with pointless and disturbing junk! I know people have quit vmk because of this stuff and I certainlly don't want to be playing a game like that.

Personally, I don't let the "Are you taken" question bother me. I simply tell them, "Who needs boys? Nothing but trouble anyway!" Hahaha If it continues, I click the "Ignore" button. Being a CL puts me in the position of having people constantly ask me if "taken" is against VMK values. I have always told them that, "No, it's not against VMK values, but I don't play the taken game, I am a free spirit!"
Oh, for the record....Even us green girls get asked occasionally

The thing that bugs me the most is that the girls not only ask one person that they maybe have been chatting to for a few minutes but go into a random room and announce "I need a boy" and then go around and ask every boy in the room if they are taken.

It is really funny when we are in guest rooms of the ancients- and most people there are parents with older kids- and you have these girls come in- and all the boys are thinking- how dangerous is that?

But I have a cauldron in a few of my rooms and when they ask- I say stop, leave or go into the cauldron- they usually don't get that I can't really put them into the cauldron and I then have to explain that I have a special button to click to put people into it it is the beg or over taken button or boot for short...

I allow my DD (10) to play on VMK. She got a nice computer from her grandparents this Christmas and I figured VMK would be child friendly. The first day she was on she was asked if she was "taken". I solved the problem by having her character dress in T shirt and pig tails. Seems VMKers are not attracted to that look. LOL. Then a new problem was created. People now want to be her "mummy" and "duh duh". I guess that is better than "taken", but still annoying.

My 6 year old ds asked me to put, "Taken by the cutest girl on VMK" in his signature the other day. I was a little surprised and asked him who that was. He said that it is me, and he wanted it there because he is tired of being asked if he's taken all the time. One day a girl called him a "fog" and a "beach" for not wanting to be "taken." Fortunately he didn't know what she was really saying.

As a mom myself, I have to agree. I hate it when my dd, 12, runs into stuff like this. She is on VMK as well as HabboHotel. Drives me crazy. I myself have stayed away from VMK a lot because of this type of behavior. It used to be fun playing but not so much anymore. Maybe I'll start playing in the evening when I know there are some friends there. Otherwise, I get tired of the childish behavior. I mean, for crying out loud..this is an on-line game..who has to to have such a great need to be 'taken'?? What's the big deal with being 'taken'?

Exactly! We have talked to VMK_Zev before when a few people set up a room against it. He told us that the "taken" stuff was not okay in vmk!

I think it is more a matter of different staff members' ideas of what is and isn't within values.
