Have you been before? They are soooo awesome with peanut allergies. I bet it is one of the top ones thy deal with.

Have you contacted Brenda Bennett? That is an awesome place to start.

Happy planning!:wizard:

Sing with me: "We're going on a trip, in a great big rocket ship, Hollywood and Vine, Little Einsteins!"
MGM (now DHS), Hollywood and Vine - Play and Dine w/ Playhouse Disney,
Lunch service, Sept. 19, 2007

First just let me say, for reasons I will explain later, I remember very little of this restaurant.

Second, we didn't take very many pics, or least very many good ones.

I had picked this restaurant because a buffet was a good choice for us,
I wasn't thrilled with the other MGM choices,
I thought the little kids would enjoy the characters and music.

One think I DIDN'T think through, was the timing. I do believe we had a 11:55 am lunch seating.
That time would become our biggest obstacle to getting to all the shows we wanted to see at MGM.
And, it was the only thing standing between Stitch Jr. and the Power Rangers.
Bionic SIL was determined to help him to meet the Power Rangers,
and I think their appearance time was 12:30.
She decided that the two of them would eat fast,
and run over to the meet and greet.

This situation caused the whole meal to feel rushed and stressful.
I don't blame Bionic SIL,
b/c I was the one trying so hard to help them all have a great trip.

Hollywood and Vine has a vintage feel, with lots of chrome and tile.
It's supposed to invoke a 1940s or 50s diner feel.
It is right next door to the Prime Time restaurant,
and even shares a bathroom.
This is important to know if you are directionally challenged,
as one wrong turn will cause you to end up in the wrong restaurant,
making you feel like you are in an episode of the Twilight Zone,
one that doesn't involve an elevator.
You've been warned.

Just so you know you're in the right place

Cool Clock

In the mean time, we were seated pretty quickly, and soon the characters started coming.

The Jr.s with Goliath the Lion (funny - they had no idea who he was)

A look at the decor

IMG_0302.jpg

The buffet still had some breakfast items on it, but those were quickly cleared.

Some food on Mom's plate

Baby's got no complaint

The Inquisitor either.

Bitsy's NOT too sure about June, but Princess K is lovin' it.

Let me take your picture honey

Oh shoot, let me take that again

Ahem, perhaps we've had one character meal too many. :rolleyes1

Bionic SIL rushed through her meal, and handed her card to the waitress,
who promptly disappeared and did not return...
for a looooooong time...
so Bionic SIL, who, believe me, is NOT to be crossed,
hunted her down.

"The computer is down."

YIKES!!!

Bionic SIL waited a minute more, then handed me her card and said: Just sign for it, I don't care anymore.

Thus starting a trend we would continue from that point on...
Sign for the other person if they're not at the table at the time...
because unfortunately (though not for us) Disney doesn't pay that close attention.
Actually, lest I get flamed, the waitress said it doesn't matter who signs.
And this was repeated to us by other servers later on.

So, Stitch Jr. achieved his dream of meeting the Power Rangers,
we had food,
and the little kids did enjoy meeting the characters.

BUT...
This restaurant is NOISY. Very NOISY.
The food was un-memorable. (is that a word???)
The staff was good with the food,
but paralyzed by the malfunctioning computer.
AND, we were never approached about our listed food allergies.
I just worked around it, and didn't ask for the chef,
but had I needed him it would have only added to our delays.

We weren't that thrilled over all, so probably won't return.

I think that breakfast might be better,
OR, if you are not interested in characters,
make ADRs for dinner, which is not a character meal.

This is our second disappointing meal at MGM.
We were not big fans of the Sci Fi.
We have been avoiding the Prime Time,
because we don't think we'd like the interaction.
But I am leaning toward trying it next time.

Next up: More Pop...because we can...

She lives!!! :yay:

And can I just say ... that picture of your DH is priceless! I just want to reach through the monitor and back through time to offer the man a cold, tasty beer. :rotfl2:

We were there last year but dd didn't have a peanut allergy then  , but now she does. Yes I did get intouch with Brenda and you just reminded me I have to send her our updated ADR's, thanks!
I can't wait for the rest of your review!!!
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks for your latest update. I am with you - the choices at the Studios are not good, but we have been avoiding the Prime Time for fear of interaction! The food looks good though, so I am fighting with reconsidering.

We are very blessed that ds has never had an ana reaction to peanuts. We're trying to keep it that way!

We ate dinner here because we wanted seats for Fantasmic and I will tell you we WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN not only was the food horrible but the service. We all ran out of drinks and ever got a refill until we had asked for the bill. We did have the chef come out for Dh walnut and pine nut allergy, and DS diabetes. They basically told Dh to stay away from the desserts and that was it. They said they couldn't help us for DS. On to the Horrid FOOD! We love our meat med rare to rare. I asked for a med rare piece of meat and they said they don't do it! I was LIKE HUH??? I think DD tried several things and left them on here plate. I felt so strongly against this restaurant that when we were checking out someone was asking about it and I told them to try any place else but there! It was the worst place. The poor Cm didn't know what to say:confused: :confused3. Sorry I had to rant about this place on your thread but I haven't gotten there on mine TR yet!!!:)

On a better note we did do 50's PTC that afternoon and we LOVED it! i thought that DH wouldn't like the whole playing around thing but he just kept his elbows off the table! The kids enjoyed and the food wasn't bad. I just didn't order veggies for DS5 because he isn't a veggie eater! I ordered fruit! We had no Problems

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: The look on hubby's face is priceless. I can almost feel lazer beams shooting from his eyes.:rotfl:

I missed this post a month ago.

Dh is a great dad and hubby.
He just was a little perturbed at the disney experience that day. ;)

Well, at least it wasn't just us.

But, you are giving me hope that 50s primetime might work out for us! :thumbsup2

Dinner is no better in our opinion. It is one of two Disney restaurants we will not return to. The food was "unmemorable" as you indicated and that's when there was food to be picked over...they were constantly running out and slow to bring out fresh and what was there was lukewarm. The service was terrible and the place had a dirty feel to it.

We did the Fantasmic Dinner at H&V. The food was OK but the place was beyond loud for a meal that wasn't a character meal. It was not in the least bit relaxing, and we enjoy a relaxing dinner. Since then, we've switched over to Mama Melroses for the Fantasmic Dinner and enjoy that so much more. I know MM gets mixed reviews, but we find it to be quieter than H&V, the food is pretty good, and the service has been excellent for both times we ate there.

I say to go ahead and give 50's Prime Time a try! We're going to give it a try on our next trip, and we're returning to MM, too.

As always, I enjoyed your review and photos! :worship:

Well bless your heart. I about fell out of my chair and knocked myself senseless on my keyboard when you said 7 kids! :goodvibes

Seriously I know that each one of them is a blessing for you and your husband.

Pixiedust34: you took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say MAma Melrose too. We are going to try it for the first time this year with the fantasmic package on the DDP. Hope it turns out well :rolleyes1

Thanks for the reviews

Hope your planning is going well!

Yah, you get over us after you meet us. We're not that big a deal. LOL

After watching John and Kate plus 8 go to WDW, I was jealous that I don't get a camera crew following us around, but I guess you don't get as much attention for having them one at a time. ;)

I almost picked MM for a meal that we needed to change, but decided on switching to Epcot and Biergarten. That was a good decision.

Should have switched this one to MM. Thought the kids would like the characters, but they didn't pay too much attention to the characters, as they were too busy eating. LOL

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

That would be Aurora on your left, and Belle on your right. ;)

I had thought it would be a great idea to just slip the dresses over their clothes.
Looking at the pics now, they look a little dorky.
Especially when compared to all the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique girls that came in.
But since they are only 3 and 4, I don't think they noticed or cared. LOL

[/B]

Not Dorky at all!!! Look at those adorable little princess faces!
