Some peoples view of Celebration are a tad harsh, IMO and misguided. The houses are close together by design. It's the feel of old time community. There are also sidewalks, garages out back and attached garage apartments, all reminders of days gone by. There are many areas with great wooded views and many of the streets are covered by large shade trees that evoke images of a Norman Rockwell painting. Some of the areas trees are not yet so large and it's true that upon casual glance Celebration can seem a bit Stepfordish but it's strictly superficial.
It's ok for folks to not like the new urbanisim and this particular style community in general but in reality Celebration is very beautiful and peaceful, particularily if walking, jogging or biking. On an evening stroll it's hard to imagine that you're in greater Orlando and only 5 minutes from WDW...It's that peaceful...Except for 10 minutes in the evening when you can hear and in some places actually see Disney's nightly fireworks.
We don't live there but have a part time residence that gets used at least twice monthly and have been very happy.
As for visiting, well, it's just a small town and not really worth the effort for recreation unless you're dining downtown but all in all I'm very happy to be a Celebration homeowner.
