Visited Celebration ?

Some peoples view of Celebration are a tad harsh, IMO and misguided. The houses are close together by design. It's the feel of old time community. There are also sidewalks, garages out back and attached garage apartments, all reminders of days gone by. There are many areas with great wooded views and many of the streets are covered by large shade trees that evoke images of a Norman Rockwell painting. Some of the areas trees are not yet so large and it's true that upon casual glance Celebration can seem a bit Stepfordish but it's strictly superficial.

It's ok for folks to not like the new urbanisim and this particular style community in general but in reality Celebration is very beautiful and peaceful, particularily if walking, jogging or biking. On an evening stroll it's hard to imagine that you're in greater Orlando and only 5 minutes from WDW...It's that peaceful...Except for 10 minutes in the evening when you can hear and in some places actually see Disney's nightly fireworks.

We don't live there but have a part time residence that gets used at least twice monthly and have been very happy.

As for visiting, well, it's just a small town and not really worth the effort for recreation unless you're dining downtown but all in all I'm very happy to be a Celebration homeowner.

Different strokes for different folks. I can't imagine living someplace where my nearest neighbor is a mile away.

As for telling on the speeders - we have a town message forum that some people use to vent about things they see happening in town. How to explain a web site where cranky people vent??? Hmmm..... well, take my word for it - you get all kinds.

We found Celebration accidentally. We were just looking for a Post Office and followed a sign. I thought it was a cute town!

I think it's a beautiful place and I love driving through during the holidays.

Less property at my Celebration home, means less work and a lot more time for Disney. :wizard:
The stepford thing, I never quite got that.
But you do live near people that love and understand Disney OCD.
It may not be for everyone, but it is our Paradise.

I'm positively *wild* about Celebration! My cousin lives there and when DH travels for an extended period, I visit with him. He's very fortunate to have one of the larger lots and privacy isn't an issue. And atmosphere....the place is loaded with it!
