Virgin Atlantic Seat Sale.

Departing from London Gatwick, prices starting from £444 for departure dates - 22nd Oct 2012 to 14th Dec 2012, 25th Dec 2012 to 24th Mar 2013 and from £559 for departures from 08th Apr 2013 to 22nd May 2013.

Therefore at the moment there are some mid-week flights-seats in economy in this sale at £444 which is cheaper than the current miles plus money price at £460.

Similar prices from Manchester in economy and premium economy fares also reduced and starting from £822

Fares available until 10 July 2012.

That's really good. Do you know if they have flight sales for July/August? - I have booked our hotel and tickets, just need flights now (which I can't book at present).

Im still looking for dates betweem 14-21st( can go any day) for 2 weeks.still over £650 with hit and miss m+m. Indirect looking so more tempting:thumbsup2

I check prices everyday in hope that it will drop, what a surprise today it's gone from £460 to £413 MPM for our flights in March. Now it's a tough decision as we are struggling with cash so were thinking about skipping a year :scared:

I'm now waiting on DH to make the decision.

Great news, with the miles plus money coming down today from £460 to £413.

It's a very good price but still a little way off what we paid for the sale priced M+M tickets at £326 which we purchased last October for a February 2012 flight.

We are therefore swaying towards waiting it out in the hope the M+M fares are reduced once again in October.

I'm not convinced they'd come down any lower as the actual flight cost is £87 adult and £52 child the rest is darn taxes. The margin for them on the flight must be non existent. My hubby was laughing saying he couldn't get a train ticket from Reading to London for that. Crazy. If only we could avoid those taxes :rotfl:

We're also not convinced that fares will be as low or lower than £413 when Virgin releases their next sale prices, but as we said, we're swaying towards waiting until later in the year, a little gamble with many fingers crossed.

And thanks for the price breakdown, we checked the breakdown for our £326.30 flight in February and that was, Fare £44.00, YQ of £175.00, GB £60.00 and XT £47.30.

We believe (and can anyone verify) that the YQ charge is a fuel & insurance surcharge imposed by Virgin, GB is the Air Passenger Duty which is now £65 and XT is a combination of all the other smaller fees, taxes and security charges.

Also, could we hopefully see a downward movement in the cost of fuel surcharges, especially with a barrel of oil now being the lowest in over a year at $93, it had touched $125 a barrel in March. But I doubt if there's any flexibility in seeing a lower cost for the other charges.
