violin as carry on?

Hi! Need info on taking a violin on an airplane. Do they allow you to carry it on? Thanks in advance for the info.
 
Yes, it will be counted as the carry on. You'll also be allowed a small personal item.

If it's valuable, check and see about insurance. Will you be able to face putting it into an overhead bin? I once read an article about a man who travelled frequently with his cello, always buying it a seat. It had a frequent flier number and would even get credit card solitications.

The last time I flew to Stockholm, I was in business class and in front of us was a man who had purchased a seat for his cello. It had to use a seat belt extender. It was great - no problems with a rude seat recliner in front of me! All travelers should be so well behaved.
