vinegar instead of Downey?

ty...I will have to take a closer look at those bottles and see if I want to try this! Thanks for the idea!

I use vinegar mixed with water to clean my shower tile and bathroom floor tile.

GREAT idea! I had been out of Tilex forever and just bought a refill. I should have used vinegar! You better believe I will when this refill runs out!!!

THANK YOU!

Ok I may be dumb but tell me how to do the vinegar in the dishwasher. I never use Jet dry just cascade, I'm thinking:scratchin if I have another dispenser for the vinegar it doesn't have a lid and will just fall into the bottom of the dishwashwer when I shut the door...is that ok?

Oh and my husbands shower gets gross, lots of mold, you're telling me vinegar and water will clean that better then tilex??? TiA

Just did my first load of laundy using vineger. Everything smells SO good and is extra soft!

I need to find a really tiny funnel, the one I was trying to use made a mess and that's the reason I haven't done it in a while. But when I was doing it, it did appear to work pretty well.

How about an empty dishwashing liquid bottle? They have the tops with the little pour spout stoppers. Maybe you can adjust the flow on that so it comes out slower & doesn't make a mess as it goes in.

This is a great thread. Thanks for the idea of adding vinegar to the washing machine. Although I do use vinegar a lot to clean, and pour down the sink/tub drains with baking soda, I have used it occasionaly in the washing machine for towels but I never thought to add it to every washload, or the dishwasher. Can't wait to try that one.

While we are talking about the wonders of vinegar, I found this web site after my sister asked me to pick up a small bottle of vinegar for her while I was at the grocery and the gallon was on sale for a few cents more. She wanted to know what she was going to do with all that vinegar so I sent her this.

(She now uses vinegar to mop her ceramic tile floors)

ok- glad I found this thread, I'm a big vinegar user too, ever since I saw a show with Good housekeeping that tested vinegar against bleach for killing surface germs, and they did equally well, I HATE using bleach if i don't have to, I keep a small spray bottle of vinegar on the counter in the kitchen, and when I'm done preparing meats, I clean the surface/sink-spray w/vinegar,let set for 5-10 mins, then wipe down-
It's also great 50/50 w/water to clean buildup of hair products, I use it about once a month, it cleans every bit of mousse residue ,then just recondition... just wash hair, pour over hair, rinse, and condition in the shower...
Anyhoo... just a question,I thought vinegar broke up soap suds, like it's good for rinsing,,so if I pour it in the washer at the same time as the soap, will it counteract the cleaning suds?
vs, adding it just to rinse with.....
