Villians Sinister Soirée

Are you thinking they are taking away the villains meet & greet piece of this? Because if they did that and didn't put them anywhere else but the $99 special event, that would not be pretty.

If Disney was dumb enough to do that, I think people would revolt and kidnap Mickey or something. Hopefully they are smart enough to NOT remove the chance of meeting villans from 'regular' party guests. If they do... it should be interesting that's for sure. Maybe they like giving refunds lately? haha

No we don't know...which is why I said it's a valid concern/worry. I can absolutely understand why someone would be concerned about this if they had already bought a MNSSHP ticket expecting to be able to see certain characters and now not being sure which characters they'll see.

I'm not disagreeing that how it was run was poor. There's a huge pool of possibilities of how Disney could have addressed that between the madhouse it was and a paid special event. So yes, I agree that addressing the madhouse that it was is a positive effect, but if someone really wanted to meet those characters and can't afford another *higher* special event cost to see them and IF Disney limits access to those characters b/c of the new event, then I can see how it would not be a net positive result for others.

For me personally, it's a non issue. I'm not interested enough in the Villains to spend that much money to go see them, or to deal with the craziness of the meet and greet as it was before. Just because it doesn't affect me, or might affect me positively, doesn't mean I can't understand the concern/worry/dislike others may have, or that I can't have a general concern about the continued direction Disney's decisions are taking.

I get what you're saying - I really do. And I don't want to see Disney cross that line I was talking about earlier... ultimately bad for all who enjoy a WDW vacation I think. Maybe we just each place that line in slightly different places...

Is it correct that the Villains Mix and Mingle is axed and changed to Villains Castle Show? Also that the later show is canceled for characters to go to the $99 event? The two times for the party are 10:15 and 11:45, right? So, by 10 the villain stuff is over in the park? Usually like to go to the last Mix and Mingle of the evening after the last parade. Need to rethink I guess.

The wording was deliberately changed within the last 30 days to remove the part that says "when the number is over, the villains veer into the crowds for meet and greets." So yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking.

Yep. And look what it said under 30 days ago...

July 28th
Disney Villains Dance Mix and Mingle!
Some of your favorite baddies from Disney films rock you with this thrilling opening number in front of a ghostly Cinderella Castle. When the number is over, the villains veer into the crowds for meet and greets.

August 25th
Villains Castle Show
Soak up the sights and sounds as some of your favorite baddies from Disney films rock you with an unforgettable opening number, taking place during a showcase set directly in front of a ghostly Cinderella Castle.

Yes. Guess the show is show only. Have to dance, visit pincesses, etc. or book the package to see those characters.

*sigh* I had such faith in you, crostorfer. You gave in to them already? ;)

Yes, but I reserve the right to cancel at any time for a full refund. My reasoning is the whole time and money are inversely proportional at WDW theory. The ONLY thing I really want to do is get my magic shots, and meet Maleficent. I have been cut off in line to meet her in that disaster of a meet and greet area two times in a row. I was one of those very non-magical people spewing obscenities and raising my voice like a banshee in 2011 because people kept jumping in front of me and wanting to take pictures with kids, then the kids and grandma, then uncle Bob, John Boy, Aunt May....and on and on it went. It made me so mad we intentionally skipped 2012, and we weren't able to go back in 2013. If I can meet her there, and NOT have to stand in that awful line at PFH and eat up 1-2 hours of my party time, I will suck it up and pay for it. If I find out she isn't there, or isn't there on, say, Friday nights, then it is a deal breaker.

Plus, like I said, we're staying at Portofino Bay and cabbing over, so they aren't getting my over priced resort room charges. You can take my fabulous annual pass rate at Uni, add the $200 I paid for the Soiree on to my total bill, and I still come out about $400 ahead of a Disney deluxe resort stay.

I also wanted to add that a big part of what rubs me the wrong way with this is, again, how it was announced/handled by Disney. MNSSHP tx have been on sale since May 5th. People have been buying tickets since then based on the descriptions of the events that Disney put forth. Disney has now made a fairly significant change to the evening's events - 3.5 months after people started buying tickets for it. Tickets which are non-refundable.

I think it's poor form to make a significant change like this for a non-refundable event well after tickets went on sale.

Hold on to your hats and grab your pitchforks, I think they are, indeed, dumb enough to do that.

It doesn't really remove the option of meeting them though. The Evil Queen and Maleficent are available in PFH if you are willing to wait in line with the screaming toddlers and pre-schoolers to see them there. (I'm seeing something similar to that scene in A Christmas Story where they line up to see Santa happening there.)

OK, that bolded part makes me like you again! :lmao: And I like your choice of hotel. We are staying onsite at Universal in two weeks with our fabulous AP rate so I know what you are talking about. I think the only difference is that I will make a certain hand gesture towards WDW property when we round that giant loop on Rip Ride Rockit. :rolleyes1:thumbsup2

I absolutely agree.

Yeah I posted this info around 2:30 after I tried it and it worked. I only attempted this beacuse I tried it for a ADR I was really wanting to get but when I put in for one it was booked yet when I put in for 2 it worked! So if there are any regular ADR"s that don't work by putting in one try it for two.

Yes, I know it works that way for dining. There are a lot of restaurants that don't accept single dining reservations. I never thought it would happen with this, or didn't think about it.

I was told by 2 previous agents that there were 2 SS parties on Oct 23 and 26th and that they were all sold out. That was before noon!

So after reading the posts about booking a single reservation as a double, I called back. The latest agent said there is only one SS party on Oct 23 and 26, and that the only nights where there are 2 parties are 3 nights earlier in Sept! Can't believe all the wrong info I got.

The latest agent tried for both one and 2 people. There were openings for 2 people on the nights I wanted, but not for just one. She booked for one adult and a child under 3, that way I'm only charged for one person. She said to just tell them when I check in on the party night that the child couldn't make it!

I know it's crazy to spend this amount of money, but I wasn't planning to go at all due to the crowds and also because I've gone so many times. This will, hopefully, be a different experience. I will wait for the reviews and, if they aren't exemplary, will cancel!

Huzzah Hattered! Huzzah!

Try a Flaming Moe in Springfield for me while you are there and tell me how it is.

The kiddo is still about 2 years too young for HHN, or we'd be going there instead. I don't think she can handle scareactors in her face.

Yup. DH and I were talking about this the other day. We make that trade off with things like character meals rather than waiting in line to meet characters. Similar idea here -- plus it sounds like it'll be cool to hang out in the castle with villains. :)

If you ticket it, they will come... ;)

.....because people kept jumping in front of me and wanting to take pictures with kids, then the kids and grandma, then uncle Bob, John Boy, Aunt May....and on and on it went.

Not only this, but it occurs during parades, etc. That's why I wasn't planning on returning to either MNSSHP or MVMCP, but I will try it once for this Soiree IF the reviews are good enough. If not, I will cancel.

Butterbeer much better then a flaming Moe IMHO

Oh, I've already had a Flaming Moe drink in Springfield. I'ts basically just orange soda with a smoke effect. I bet your daughter would get a kick out of it. You can keep the cup and make it at home with some dry ice. Perhaps a parent would want to add some alcohol to it. pixiedust:

Mmmm.....HHN. But yeah, way too intense for a kiddo.

Could not agree more!!! We bought our MNsSHP tix 1st day they went on sale--- now they change things-- ??!!! Glad we are really not into the M & G so much--- but if this is truly what they are going, people should be able to get a refund.

I sure hope that's not the case. That would be a new low. I'll cross my fingers and hope they are putting the rest of the villains from the VM&M elsewhere for people to meet.

Are we all absolutely sure that a refund would be given if someone decided to cancel ? I know many posters are saying that's the plan, listen for reviews if not good then cancel. I'm just not trusting the mouse anymore.

The first Disney blog to come out mentioned villains in other parts of the park.
