Villas @ WL vs. FW Cabins - Did I make the wrong decision?

I have stayed in both a 1br villa at the WL as well as a cabin at FW. I LOVED the villa-but it was just me and my fiance, and we were upgraded to it from a standard room. I think with a family you may be happier at the cabin: especially because you say you are interested in the activities at FW. I think young children would be happier staying there, and although the two resorts are near each other, it can be annoying catching the boat everytime you want to go to activities at FW. They have the campfire at night, a good buffet, animals for the kids to visit. The cabin also has a full kitchen so you can save money preparing meals; the cabins have a regular size dining table (I think seating six) while the villas' table only accomodates two-the two of us found it small to eat on! I think you'd be happier saving the $840 and spending it on something else-or saving it for a future :earsboy: trip!

The biggest advantage of staying in a 1 bedroom villa with kids...... while the littleones nap/go to bed early, you have a whole other room to be in..... makes it a vacation for the parents too..... If your kids are heavy sleepers.. put them to bed for the night in the Master, so you have the main living room area to hang out in, then move them on to the fold out when your ready for bed... Or.. all just crash in the master, your kids are young enough that it could work out well for you.

My family stayed at VWL a couple of years ago.... it was our first NO PARK trip... our kids were 4, 2, and 4 months old at the time. Kids loved both the pools and the main pools slide was just the right size for our brave 4yo dd... we took the boat over to FW a lot, but just so you know you must fold up your stroller to get it on the boat.... no real biggy... jsut didnt want you to be surprised.

We spent a week there.... didnt go to a single park... just hung out at the resort and LOVED IT.

Now in April of 2006, we will be trying out the Cabins at Ft Wilderness for the first time. I am nervous about not having a real second room and much smaller accomdations that we are used to (we rent the 2 bedroom DVC units) but again, we dont plan on going to the parks much that trip or will focus that part of our stay on the petting zoo and maybe hit MK. I already have our golf cart booked... just waiting until I can book the room! :rotfl2:
