video camera question

Hi, i was wondering if any of you have ever taken a monopod with you? I am thinking about taking one to use in shows such as Fantasmic.
What do you thin?

Probably not a bad idea for something like Fantasmic....not least because as I know from experience your arm will drop off after trying to hold a camcorder still for more than about 10 minutes, with the inevitable camera shake LOL !! Even the lightest of camcorders gets heavy after holding it to your eyes for any length of tme.

Just try and sit in the middle of your group so you don't inconvenience anyone else sitting around you...or you might just get an " accidental " elbow at a vital time !!

We tried a monopod for taping the Lion King show and it was fine. Ours is a telescopic one that fits nicely in the camcorder bag (well it used to until we changed our camcorder)

I always take a monopod. Once the camera is running and pointed in the right direction you only need to glance at the LCD every once in a while, and can watch the show instead of your camera.

BTW, I also use my monopod with my still camera, it allows me to use a slower shutter speed than I would use otherwise. Good for fireworks and telephoto lenses.

Depends whether you can a good viewpoint with no-one likely to bump into you ( your monopod could cause problems if someone trips over it !! ).

Try and get a spot where you can lean against a wall/lamp-post or somesuch to give you some support, that's almost as good as a monopod.

Same goes for still photos BTW.
