Vibram FiveFingers Shoes?

WHY do you care?:flower3:People will ridicule ANYTHING that makes you different than the rest of the sheep.Ignore it and wear them if you choose to.I get weird looks and I ignore it.If you live your life worrying about what others think, you aren't living YOUR life:hippie:

It is not that I care what others think, but I cannot stand rude stares or obnoxious questions when I am out with my family. I do not want these shoes for me personally, because they do no justice for pretty feet (as mentioned about my sister-in-law). Someone referred to them as ape feet, and that is not far from accurate. That is my deal breaker. However, I already gave in and told my husband to get them. He has yet to get them, which is why I regret giving him a hard time. If I could take back giving him a hard time, I would. That is what I was saying in my first post, but I guess that was not clear!

we seen them at a buncha places in Disney..whoo cares what ya look like, I mean I am a croc girls myself, honestly what could be more uglier than crocs?lol
the finger shoes r cool looking, and u will get asked lotsa q's..lol!! The fila ones have more cushion..and are cheaper too! :O)

I got mine mainly for running.... which I do little of :rolleyes1 ... but I LOVE to wear them biking or trail hiking. I can't explain how comfortable they are!!
I initially got them because I liked to run in flip flops... my DH thought I was nuts but I honestly can not STAND tennis shoes. I haven't worn them all winter because I can't wear them with socks (yes I have bought toe socks specifically made to wear with them but don't like how they fit with them).
I totally suggest that you try them on!! They are a bit crazy looking but are the most comfortable things I've ever worn!
Here are a picture of me in mine...

My husband has a pair for running and he loves them. They do take a little while to get use to so I would break them in before wearing them to Disney although my husband did just that. He was just a little sore because you work muscles that you don't usually use with sneakers on. They are pricey but they last a long time, I think my husband has had them for about 4 years now and the sole is still good. I will say that his shoes can get really stinky so it's great that they can be washed, I just have to put a lot of vinegar in the wash to get the smell out. And he does get a lot of questions about them and the only time he minds is when he's at the gym and people keep coming up to him. We're used to getting lots of looks and comments though since we're a young couple with 4 young kids close in age, it gets worse if we have our Valco double stroller with all the kids on it. :lmao:

I myself don't have a pair because I don't like anything between my toes. It took me a while just to get comfortable wearing flip flops.

Just bought a pair of Vibram KSOs myself at REI. HAve only wore them for a couple hours around the house but I love them so far. Very confortable and should be a great all around shoe for WDW (walking, cool, breathable, and good when wet).

I have owned a pair for sometime now, and absolutely love them. I'm also not one of those people to really care what others think of my feet. I will most definitely be walking around WDW in mine come Sept. Like others, I do strongly recommend getting them well before hand to get used to them. Also like others, I go barefoot quite a bit, so the break in time for me wasn't really that long. I have the KSO's or keep stuff out. They have a mesh upper that offers a little more coverage thant he classics. They also have a velcro strap to help keep them on snuggly.

How do they feel after getting wet? Do they rub alot and create blisters? The lady at REI said that they should be perfect for what I'm looking for (One shoe for walking, riding wet rides, without getting blisters). Last trip I took so many pairs of shoes, sandals, and crocs, that it became annoying having to switch them out and decide which ones to take to the park each day. Hopefully these are the one shoe to rule them all...haha!

I haven't gotten them yet because I don't, personally, like the way they look. Plus, I'm not one to enjoy getting asked the same questions twenty times a day. But, they are the safest way to get close to barefoot running. I see lots of barefooters around my neighborhood, and I'm always worried they're going to run on glass or splinters.

If you run they are great! I wear mine exclusively for running and wear Nike Frees for less obnoxious minimalist footwear for walking/being in public. If you are just walking I don't find other minimalist shoes to be a big drop off for comfort and benefits. As for running.....I won't ever go back to traditional running shoes and have beaten many of my personal records for various races in them including my 10km time earlier this year. I have been using them for three years and have the Classics (rarely use), the KSO Treks which I use in the Winter and on rough terain and my personal favorites the KSO's that I bought a couple years back and have put close to 1,500kms on. To put that in perspective when I used to use "normal" running shoes I would get around 500kms on them before I would need to get new shoes......after 1,500kms and some shoe gue on the bottoms I can see myself getting another 1,500kms on them.....Most fun I have ever had running has been the last few years in my VFF's and I can't recommend them enough for running...I would wear them everywhere but I cannot stand the looks you get and the questions that will never go away about them even after they have been around for a few years.....they will never become a mainstream shoe.....if you are interested in learning more about the "culture" these things have brought about check out the birthday shoes forum. The frequents there make my passion for VFF's seem very minimal.....

I own three pairs of VFF. I love them. I had no problem wearing them in the World this time... My first time really wearing them was around AK and my feet weren't "conditioned" to them yet. I think it takes some time for the foot to get used to them and then they are good to go perhaps like any other shoe. (usually the shoe has to be broken in but here the foot has to be broken in). I love how they feel.

I have the classic and 2 KSO's.
