I searched the thread but did not find an answers for my question. We are thinking of booking a VGT and understand the restrictions. If we were to purchase either DCL insurance or 3rd party insurance and had to cancel due to an acute medical issue with an immediate family member, do they work with you? We have aging parents so it something in the back of my mind. Of course I pray everyone stays healthy and safe but it’s always a possibility so I wanted to ask. Thanks for any personal experience or knowledge on the subject.

If you purchase insurance that covers that particular cancellation need then yes it would reimburse the VGT. The key there is to make sure the insurance you purchase will cover your concern. I recommended checking some internet comparison sites, find a couple of policies, and CALL to ask your specific question. (Not all policies will cover for issues by a non-traveling family member.)

Alternatively, if you go with DCL's insurance and the claim gets denied, you could still receive a 75% credit towards a future cruise. It will have a time limit on the credit.
