Vettegirl's Holiday Dining Adventures Update 2/26 Thats a wrap!

Update!

For lunch that first full day I didn't have an ADR and wasn't sure what I felt like. I could have eaten at BOG but wasn't really feeling it so I went over to Epcot and decided to be brave and had lunch at Biergarten. I wasn't too thrilled about the communal seating, but I scored a table right in the center down by the stage. It was perfect as I sat by the railing and was able to enjoy the show that was Christmas themed. Also no one talked to me which was fine with me :rotfl2: It was absolutely beautiful! I really enjoy their buffet and the highlights for me are the salad with the creamy herb dressing, cucumber salad, asparagus soup, pork schnitzels, warm potato salad, veggies, and the delicious pretzel rolls. The dessert selections are quite nice there as well. To wash it down I had a small grapefruit beer, so good!!
They have a huge variety and something for everyone. Overall it was a great lunch and I was so glad I did it!

I love the Biergarten! So many great choices and the music is so fun. The CL looks great for every meal and snacks! :thumbsup2

your photos and reviews are amazing...thanks so much..waiting for more

Yum! Biergarten is on our list to try. My fiance loves German food and can probably put away enough to get our money's worth there lol.

Thank You :)

You must try it next time!

I try to use the same strategy . . . get to the railing for a better view of the stage and a bit of a safeguard against unfriendly tablemates. While the communal seating can be off putting for many people (think its the shock/surprise of it for tablemates who didn't do their homework and suddenly feel awkward with strangers next to them) Biergarten is still definitely worth it for the show, food and incredible theming.

Sounds like you had a great meal at 50's. I haven't been here in ages and its long over due. Just can't tear the hubby away from SciFi

Mmm, your Biergarten meal looks so good. Especially the beer part of it ; )

Joining in! Wow, you got a great rate on CL! I would love to try AKL for part of a trip. Now that we have 5 over the age of 2, though, it seems like we aren't able to fit in a standard room. Any idea if club level rooms sleep just 4? The food choices look fantastic. I only have Poly CL to compare it to (fantastic, but pricy), but I can tell I would love it! Now, I want to give Beirgarten a try.... They offer the grapefruit beer? I was on the fence about trying Beirgarten on our recent trip, but this is new information!

I don't mind the seating when I am not alone, I just didn't want to feel weird eating alone with a huge table full of people.

You guys should switch it up as the food is just sooo good. Except for the cheese app :rotfl2:

AKL CL rooms are on the smaller side, especially when comparing to the Poly, as they are for 4 people. So the only options are 2 rooms or suites which are not cheap. I would love to try the Poly CL on a future trip, it sounds delightful. With regard to the grapefruit beer, they also have it outside in Germany at the beer stand on the right hand side if you aren't dining at the restaurant. If you are on the fence about Biergarten, I say go for it!!

Following along! I always enjoy your dining reports!

I'm super bummed that we had to change our AKL CL ressie to GF because of the lounge renovations...it looks wonderful! Well, I think I would love it...the rest of the family probably wouldn't appreciate the offerings.

All caught up. I love the friend cheese at 50s! I don't know that I would if I were craving mozzarella sticks but I really enjoy it for what it is.

How nice you met with with emmysmommy and family! Some of my very favorite people!

We haven't been to the Biergarten in several years. DS and I did not have very nice neighbors and it has turned me off going there. I do really enjoy the food though so it is on my list to go back to soon - possibly in March with DS, more likely in October with DH!

I loved Biergarten as a solo diner - although I did talk to my tablemates (one was a Diser!)

The pretzel bread (when hot) was absolutely delicious.

Glad to have your here! I didn't know the AKL CL was going through renovations, that is too bad. The food in the evenings isn't for every palette out there, but if you like Indian food then it's fantastic.

I was surprised by my choice, as I really wanted some mozzarella sticks that night. Brenda and family are so much fun, I get to hang out with she and her hubby this coming weekend at DL for my husband's bday and I am running the Star Wars half marathon. I can't wait.

Now if it were a fellow Diser at the table I would totally love that experience. I agree that bread is quite good, but yes better when hot.

After lunch I toured around Epcot and rode a few rides before driving back to the AKL to catch the afternoon tea service before they stopped it at 4. I had a tea and a sangria :thumbsup2 along with a delicious cranberry scone. Oh to have that recipe would be so wonderful to recreate them. Later on I had dinner in the club were they had a chicken curry, that was phenomenal, and a vegetarian dish that was out of this world good too. The other offerings were similar to the night before.

Also it was Walt Disney's birthday that day and I saw a pic of this on IG, that had it at the Contempo. I did not try it but boy does it look good.

The next morning I made my way bright in early over to the BWI to check in early as I had an early 8:30 am breakfast at the YC at the Captains Grille with a group of awesome Disers. However before breakfast I was anxious to check out the club first in BWI CL that I have heard nothing but great things about. I will tell you this lounge is hidden upon the layers of the BWI. You check in a desk out front and then there is a monitored locked door to get you into the CL which is down a long hall way to the right. When I walked in I was greeted by lovely lounge with high ceilings and beautiful Christmas decor. The CL here is geared more towards adults and the whole time I was there I didn't see any children at all. I checked out there breakfast offerings that were quiet generous. They had bagels, muffins, croissants, meats, cheeses, fruit, boiled eggs, smoked salmon, oatmeal with toppings, and various toppings for the salmon. It was quiet the spread for sure.

Love the look of the BWI CL! The trouble with reading these fantastic reports is that my list of Disney must do's keeps growing! Can't wait to hear about your breakfast at Captain's Grill. We just added it to the list for March as the boys decided they really didn't want to do a character breakfast.

Everything looks so wonderful, I am really happy to see what the Biergarten looks like during Christmas! That Sangria at AKL looks divine, I am sooooooooo super excited about my stay in November :yay: (I am also seriously considering CL). Excited to see how you liked the BWI as well.
