Veterans' Day "long weekend"???

Hi all:

Just read something in a thread that seemed to indicate that our dates (Nov. 14+15) coincide with a long weekend because of Veterans' Day. So does that mean people generally get/take the Friday off to combine with the Thursday? Is it going to be super busy then on the Sunday + and even theMonday??? ACK. Thoughts, predictions appreciated.

I live in NY and the kids have off school in the middle of the week and I believe government offices are closed the same day. No work places I know have a long weekend.
