We will be in Orlando :sunny: the Friday before the Daytona 500. And to the dismay of my DS9, we will not be attending the race :car: . I regret not purchasing the $80 tickets when I had the chance, but, that is no longer an option. Besides, I'm sure it would be a lot more money after parking, food, souvenirs, etc.. So, my questions are:

1. How does the Daytona affect traffiic in Orlando, or does it? Does Orlando get busier the Monday after the race? Where should be stay away from? I'm trying to plan our SW, BG, Go Carting & NASA trips...maybe Daytona USA but, again not sure what the traffic flow will be or if they are even open then.

2. Where's a good place to maybe watch the race?. Obviously we won't stay all day and watch the race, (again to the dismay of my DS9, he wants to stay in the hotel room watch all day) but, maybe somewhere where we can eat and have some NASCAR feel.

Thanks for any help with the traffic patterns.

So sad didn't purchase tickets when we had the chance.

Are you still interested in the race? Maybe you can still get tickets, but those are not cheap! Try Stubhub and you may get something. But if you are not going, the traffic going on I-4 is not that heavier, but going east towards Downtown Orlando could be the problem. Once you past Altamonte Springs (North of Orlando), the traffic is heavier. But even worse, after the race, when the traffic coming from Daytona Beach to Orlando, is worse and can be a problem, but where talking evening hours. In case you won't make it, I recomend that you do Sea World and if you can go on the Beachline towards Cocoa Beach and Kennedy Space Center, that would help. Monday after the race, could be OK! I don't know if Daytona USA is open for business, but I guess everybody calls it a HOLIDAY!

Thanks for the information. Have you ever purchased tickets from Stubhub before? I checked it out, and, I might be able to get cheaper tickets than I thought.

We actually have decided at this point not to go, but....if I can get cheaper tickets we may change our mind. I know my DS9 would be estatic!!

Anyways... thanks for the help.

If you want to go to the race. There is a mall by the race track. Get there about 6-7:00am to park. Enjoy all the activities around the track. At sometime before the race head over to where all the scalpers are standing and see if you can find the number of tickets you need. The closer it gets to race time the cheaper the get. They walk away with manyunsold tickets. It is a wonderful experience even if you don't get in the race.

I did entered the Stub Hub, because I have an affiliation with them at one web site, but did not entered the whole link, due to the policy of the board. But they guarantee that you will get the tickets or your money back. They are a ticket exchange program and have good reviews, so give it a try and let me know if you went to Daytona 500.
