VERY disappointed in RPR

I am sorry you had a bad experience at RPR. IN 5 stays we have always encountered a friendly and helpful staff with employees speaking to us poolside, in the hallways,etc... One time we were treated less than graciously at check-in, but otherwise we have always been treated like VIP's there. I phoned Star Service once to get a new hairdryer as ours was not working. We then left the room and when we returned a few hours later, there was a new hairdryer installed as well as lightbulbs changed that we had forgotten to even report as being burnt out. I would certainly voice my complaint to them. I do think they are concerned with good customer service at RPR.

My last stay at PBH I was treated like royalty. My mother and sister had some problems at HRH. My stay at WL in December was less than stellar. It started with a desk clerk with an attitude (think of the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons) and went down hill from there. On the other hand, I stayed at BC two years ago and all was spendid. It seems no hotel has a lock on good/bad service.

I stayed at this hotel the very first week it opened. I still remember our stay. We loved the parks. My kids had a blast at the pool. But mostly I remember how I was woken up at 3am by the guests checking in in the adjacent room. It was so bad that I could hear every word spoken, their crying tired children, everything. I called the desk staff that night and asked to be moved to another room and again the next night after experiencing noise in the hallway after we retired as well. I don;t know what was wrong with this room. It was on the first floor, and we might as well not had any walls or a door. Bottomline: They refused to move us. This year I am going to try my luck at the Portabello.

Isn't that a mushroom? ;)

Everyone seems to think that the Portofino is the quietest hotel. I am sure you will love it there!!!

LOL! I always enjoy a good grilled portabello.
On the other hand, we found the RPR to be very quiet. Maybe it was because we requested a room at the far end of the hall. No one was passing by our room at all. I usually have trouble sleeping when I'm away from home. I slept like a baby at the RPR.

I love both IOA and USF, but thought that, for what we got, the RPR was way overpriced. I guess i have been spoiled, yes, spoiled by the treatment that i have received at the Disney resorts. The rooms at the RPR were the same size as the rooms at the Pop Century. They were decorated better, but, still... I guess you have to add the price of the FOTL access to the price and figure how much that is worth. Then, I guess that makes the room more "affordable". I heard that you can stay at the RPR for friday night and get FOTL for both Friday and Saturday. This would be the only way for me to stay there again.

I disagree that RPR is way overpriced for a luxury resort. Something that POP is not. There is NO comparison. If you would like to compare you would have to compare a deluxe against a deluxe.

I have been spoiled as well and it wasnt by Disney, ever. The only time I feel spoiled is when we stay at an on-site Universal property.

The rooms at Royal Pacific are larger than POP. Not only by just a bit but by 75 sq feet.

Bottom line...some prefer what Disney has to offer and some dont. I'm in the camp that woke up and smelled the coffee over at Universal.

How did I miss that! LOL! I'll take mine marinated and grilled...YUMMY!

Portofino is pretty quiet but the times we stayed at RPR it was quiet too. I guess its all room location.

thanks for corecting my speling! I new I hadn't spelt it corectlly, but I didn't reelize what I was speling! Anyway, we injoyed the universal parks just as much as we did the Disney parks when we went that year, and I am definitely looking forward to my trip this sumer with my two boyz! LOL

Sorry to hear of your expereince. I haven't been able to say there yet but I have heard nothing but good things about this hotel.

Sorry you had to end you vacation on such a sour note. We loved the RPR, we found it very accomodating and convienient and not to mention beautiful. But we did have a horrible experience at the Hard Rock, a beautiful hotel but very poorly run and unaccomodating. I just hope that the staff from the Hard Rock has not been transfered over to the RPR!!! :rolleyes2

So sorry to hear about your disappointing stay at RPR. We had the opposite experience there. Everyone we encountered---check-in desk, concierge desk, housekeeping, restaurant and pool staff, luggage desk, lounge staff, parking valet---all were very courteous and helpful, and all our special requests were answered in a timely manner. Smiles were abundant when we were there 2 wks ago.
