1. Waverunners - Does anyone know the cost and the age they allow children to ride with an adult?

Hi Michelle...
Don't know the exact age, but I swear we saw kids there with their parents that appeared to be no more than 5 yo. I know we had done this with our kids when our youngest was 7 yo. Hope this helps.

3. We are staying in a 1 BR - any recommendations on which building to stay in or anything to increase the chance of getting ocean view?

My ds was in bldg 12. He was on the 2nd floor and had a glimpse of the ocean. But mostly he faced the same underground garage we did. It was funny. We were so close we could talk to eachother when we were on our balconies I don't know if it's so much the bldg, but rather the way your room faces ? Bldgs 12 and 15 are on the ends and perhaps u have a slightly better chance of seeing the ocean in them. But the vegetation/dunes are high enough, that you might only get a glimpse. I think in our GV Inn room, had we been on the 3rd or 4th floor we would have been able to glimpse the water too. The palm trees were high enough to just block the view.

Thanks for sharing those photos Maria. I hope your daughter has a great time at college - but not TOO good of a time.

I am suffering through a BAD case of Disneyitis right now. It is killing me that we can't go back again until next June. So I am living my own "imaginary mini trip" through everyone elses photos.

Great pics Maria. I think that is the room we had on our onep to VB. I loved that room. Only thing that would make it better would be a view of the ocean.

Glad your DD is getting settled evne if it is hard to be away from home.

Thanks too DVC Jen....I know how bad that Disneyitis can be---and there's only one cure ! DD seems to be enjoying FL Tech but I told her, study first....play later !

Yep. They have two of them and both can carry two people. They also now have this banana raft that three or four people can sit on and be towed by the waverunner.

DH and I will be going to VB in nov for the 1st time. We actually had reservations several years ago--but vero got struck by Charlie (I think). We ended up at BWV. We had a great time---but I can't wait to try VB!
Your tips have been VERY helpful. I especially love the pictures and the suggestions about where to eat.

Oh Maria you are making me wish I was there. We had to postpone our trip to Florida this summer that was supposed to include a few days at VB. We will definitely be reserving our room for next summer.

Hi...I'm back ! Thanks Lori for the comment on the pics
I was hoping some other DIS'ers who stayed on past 8/19 (the day we left) would report back on any storm damage. Anyone hear anything ? Just curious.


Also...thought I'd post a few more photos. First one is are the chairs and umbrellas from our swap ! Thanks again starbox !!! We found the CM's to be very nice about retrieving them. I anticipated an umbrella that would not be in good shape from reports on this thread, but when she brough it out, she said, don't worry....there's another one just sitting back there.

Heard nasty things about these little ghost crabs. They apparently like to lay in wait and eat the tiny turtle hatchlings when they emerge from the nest.

I am adding myself to the list of Vero Beach fans! We just had our first trip there and it wasn't long enough, although we got out just as fay was coming in! We will definitely be returning! My family absolutely loved it! I think VB is the best kept secret!

With DDs both seniors this year(HS & college), had to be creative and split up our vaction into shorter trips this year. First stay at VB this April, girls loved it so much wanted to go back for the fall.

I'm thinking October should be a slower time of year. For those that have gone in the fall.. have you been able to get your room at check in? In April it was somewhere close to 5pm...

First of all I must say I am surprised nobody has posted in 1 1/2 weeks. Next I must say that I am very dissappointed. I called MS today to book the Sunday Brunch at Sonyas and found out they no longer do it. I guess when I read the menu on allears it was old because they said it hasn't been done for a year or 2. I may just have to make my own mimosa in the room. But hay if that is my biggest problem in life I guess I'm all set.

We're getting near end-of-life for this thread. I was even contemplating asking the mods to close it, but I think I'll wait till the end of September. Then Mia can start up the 2009 version when she is ready.
