Vent Re Teen Halloween Costume

We saw some trashy tweens and teens, but the absolute worst offender was a neighbor mom escorting her two young children. They were dressed in some basic costumes, she was "porn fantasy Marie Antoinette." Complete with garters and stockings in full veiw under a super short ruffled skirt. I can't imagine how she even walked in the heels. Her hubby wasn't with her....maybe he was hoping she'd pick up a few "tricks" while she was out, to pay for the Halloween candy he was home distributing?

The bras used to bug me, too, until I asked my dd if she wanted me to find some without the padding. She was horrified - "what if I am cold!" :scared1:

It's not the padding exactly which I find offensive, I get why its something they would want, it's the sculpting push up effect that bothers me. I mean some of those things have 1/2 inch padding in a demi-cup which it totally appalling when I see it in my 11 year old DD's size, KWIM. Little girls need support and coverage. Why be alluring when no-one is supposed to be looking anyway? It's got bad decision written all over it. Yuck.

It seems like the entire world in on a mission to push kids forward and it just drives me up a wall. The way I see it they only get 15 or so years to be a kid and the first 1-5 years aren't even really self aware so that leaves MAYBE 10, the rest of their lives will be about being a grown up so why rush past it? No good will come of it... i just don't get it.

DD12 TOT'd with one of her friends. I dropped her off about an hour and a half before the official town TOT hours began. I then ran into Target to get a few items. While I was walking down the isle, a mother and daughter, the girl looked 14/15, were quickly walking up behind me and you can hear them arguing.

From what I heard, it seems mom and dad are divorced and daddy-dearest bought their DD an outfit that mom didn't find age appropriate. The best comment outta mom was "I don't care if Dad and Sue thought you looked cute as could be in fish-nets, a corset and can-can skirt, your not going out in something that you rear end hangs out of. You have five minutes to pick out something that covers yourself or I pick it out or better yet, you can just sit at home this year." As they passed me and rounded the corner and I turned down a different isle, I could hear the dd start to say something about dad being right, you are an...... I thought to myself, if she said what I think she said, and it sure sounded like that was the word coming outta her mouth, she is so lucky that she isn't my DD. DD would have been in a world of hurt, as we would have turned right around and she would have stayed home for the night.

I really hope the girl wasn't saying what I truely think she said. And just as bad, is if dad actually told his dd that her mom would have that reaction to what he bought and made that strongly of a negative remark about mom to their DD. Talk about setting up an arguement between parent and child.

LOL, this is exactly why my daughter has bras with padding. She's got just about nothing, so when she's cold it's EXTRA noticeable. And the little bit of padding (I allow) doesn't do anything but provide cushion and "warmth" ;)

I really hate the new sexy costumes for the younger girls. We went to Mickeys no so scary halloween party 2 years ago and my nephews step daughter met us there. She is 16 and very curvy.her costume was a lady bug and it was too sexy for her or anyone!! she had thigh highs on and a very short skirt. one of the CMs came up to her at the entrance and told her the costume was inappropriate for entrance to the park. I was so happy! i had no idea what she was going to wear as she lives in florida and met us there. we had to go into the park and buy her pants to wear! it was so embarrassing!

I think some of the costumes are slutty a bit but when I was in 8th grade I remember getting dressed up as a hooker for halloween. A lot of my friends did and the skirts we wore to school were not much longer than the ones that come with these costumes. If I ahd the body to pull it off, I would wear them now. My grandmother said, "If you got it, flaunt while you do!" They're not going out naked and they know what they look like going out there and hopefully the parents who let them wear these things are supervising them properly to make sure they don't get into trouble being out there like this. I don't see it as a big deal. If there wasn't a market for it, they wouldn't keep making it.
