Okay, I know I am going to get a lot of flak about this, but I am posting anyway.

Dumbo is a ride that small children LOVE. AND it has one of the longest lines of all rides in the MK (usually). Small children (toddlers, preschoolers) have very few rides just for them that we KNOW will not scare them like dark rides, etc. I really hate seeing adults taking up a Dumbo seat without a kid. I mean, come on. Give this one to the little kids, okay? They have a hard time waiting in line as it is.

Thank you :)

Are we talking about families of 3 where one parent rides with the child and the other rides behind the child or adults that ride with no children?

Sorry to disagree.

I am an adult (over 40) and have never ridden Dumbo - and I really want to. We will be down in WDW in May (for our planning session for our Disney wedding) and in November (for our Disney wedding). I am hoping to get on Dumbo at least once in these two trips.

everyone is entitled to there own opinion

but mine is different from yours if this is a ride you have loved since a kid it isn't right that I am not allowed to ride because I don't have a child with me Disney is for everyone and IF you can ride the ride you should be able to!! they waited in line too!?

but I do see your side too!

I just bowed out and let my husband ride. I'd rather see a child in that seat than me. Anyway, I wanted to take pictures from the sidelines :)

You could say the same thing about the characters, because the adults *know* they're not real.

I'm a Dumbo lover too. I have kids now and of course its one of the first rides they ask to ride. But I rode it before kids aswell. And I don't feel any different about adults riding it alone. I figure if you wait in line whats the problem.

Wow....I hate to think anyone would want to limit people from getting on a ride (except for safety issues like height limits, pregnancy, etc).

Get to the ride first thing in the morning and be one of the firsts to get on! Get off and get in line again if they really want to ride again.

I understand your point, but disagree with it. As a "Big Kid" I love Dumbo. I'm not a huge fan of the larger rides. Although, I will only ride, during EMH-evening because the lines are not long and it does give the little kids a chance to ride, during the day, before their bedtimes :)

I have to disagree with OP. While I haven't ridden Dumbo in years since my daughter was about 8 years old, I keep promising myself that on my next trip with DH, we are going to ride Dumbo. I mean really, adults do pay even more for their tickets than children. Why shouldn't adults get to enjoy everything they want to? There are some adult rides that I can't or won't go on because they make me sick or are just to scarey for me. That opens a spot in line on those rides for someone else who like it.
How about all the parents that force their screaming, terrified little ones on Dumbo just to get a picture of the kid on Dumbo? :sad2: That makes no sense to me. Why take up a place in line if your kid is scared to death to go on a ride?
Just my own personal opinions. :hippie:

I couldn't disagree more.

First of all, I rode dark rides as a very, very small child and enjoyed them. It might have had something to do with my parents not being "worriers"--I had no idea that I was "supposed" to be scared, so I wasn't. That carried over to the thrill rides as soon as I was tall enough to ride them. All of my siblings were the same way.

Second, rides without age limits are open to everyone. Dumbo is not a kid's ride. Just as it may be the only ride an overly easily frightened child might be able to ride, that may just be the only ride some adults are able to handle. It's some people's favorite ride, regardless of age. I never "got" Dumbo myself, but I would never suggest that someone should feel guilty about riding one of the most internationally recognized and beloved rides anywhere because they didn't have children with them. It makes about as much sense as telling parents they shouldn't let their children ride because they can't appreciate it, and the ride should be reserved for adults only.

Yes. I'm really going to get blasted for this one, but I think the character meals should be reserved for the little ones as well.

Sorry. I guess I just don't get it. Before I had a child I took my husband to WDW because he had never been and I was in Orlando on business, so he met me there. We went to the GF reservation desk and asked about dinner reservations and the cm was, like, "It's your lucky day! A table is available for CRT." We were like, "okay." We ended up walking up to CRT and looking at each other like, "Now, why do we want to eat here?" We skipped the reservation. This was in 2002 and credit cards weren't necessary. We went to O'Hana instead (they had the pineapple and caramel then, I remember. Not to get off topic).

I guess I only really am into Disney because of my child. Once she becomes a teen it will probably be Universal all the way.

Everyone is a kid at Disney!!
I agree, and even at 48 I enjoy all the rides I am eligible to ride, including Dumbo. IMO, you haven't been to Disney if you don't do the classics. That is what I think Walt intended. Now granted I may not stand in line a long time to ride when my kids are too big to want to ride it too, but then hopefully there will be grandkids to help keep me young!

Wow! Is this for real or are you pulling our legs? :confused3

Maybe WDW should not open to adults at all then.

See, I think you get my drift. Thanks for the input.
