Hi all.

Im planning our first trip to Disney this August and right now Im researching some of the restaurants we want to visit.

Due to religious beliefs, my husband doesnt eat meat 3 days out of the week, so my dilemma right now is planning out our reservations for these days. He is not a typical vegetarian, doesnt like tofu or anything like that. So things can get a bit tricky.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for great Vegetarian meals at Disney? It seems like the choices are quite limited from my research so far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

When you make your reservations, make sure you mention that he is a vegetarian. I always do this and the servers always ask if I need to speak to a chef (I usually don't because I eat fish and can almost always find something on the menu). You can also call the restaurants directly a couple of days before your reservation and discuss his dietary requirements. The chefs and restaurants and usually very accommodating and should be able to come up with something yummy for him to eat. :)

There is a multi-part "Vegetarian at Mickey's Table" series on www.allears.net . I would say that every table service restaurant and at least two-thirds of the counter service restaurants will have something, although at the CS places it may just be a Gardenburger.

My 15 YO daughter is a vegetarian and we find it relatively easy for her to eat well at Disney. Counter service can be a problem so she usually sticks with salad choices. For sit downs, her favorites are the California Grill and breakfast at Cindy’s. At the castle, they serve a fruit, granola and yogurt bowl that she devours. CG has vegetarian dishes but also if you ask, they have a special plate where each station contributes a non meat dish. Mostly sides but her favorite meal at WDW. On our last trip, Flying Fish only had one pasta dish (she didn’t care for it) and when we went to Hoop de doo, they had mediocre pasta and grilled vegetables so I would avoid those on his non meat days.

Thank you for all the great recommendations.

I didnt realize that the restaurants would be so accommodating. There were a few that I thought we would enjoy, but decided not to consider because I new dh wouldn't like the vegetarian choice. I may not have to scracth them off my list just yet :)

50s Prime Time - Roasted Pepper
Columbia Harbor House - Vegetarian Chili and Lighthouse Sandwich
Plaza Restaurant - Vegetable sandwich
Sci-Fi Dine-In - Shrimp pasta, without the shrimp
Tangerine Cafe - Vegetarian platter
San Angel Inn - Vegetarian combination plate

There are tons of options! Take a look at the menus on allears.net. Every restaurant has at least one vegetarian option.

My 15 yr old decided to be vegetarian last year....We usually have our TS SET - due to family Traditions.... (MK/ CRT.....EP/Teppan Edo....HS/H & V due to buffet - helps with picky/vegetarian......)

But I really tried to pay attention to having a large selection for CS. Because the other 2 teens are picky, needing vegetarian selections and I wanted GOOD food...not a dry hamburger....
SO....
After careful research ...this is what I chose:

MK: Cosmic Ray's - Best selection in MK
EP: Sunshine Seasons / The Land - Best selection at EP...mall style courtyard
HS: Sunset Market (Near ToT and RR) - Best selection at HS.

I was pleased with all selections and heard no complaints from the family.

Hope that helps!

Hey! I'm a vegetarian and just got back. 'Ohana made me a special vegetarian entree with rice and stir fry vegetables and tofu. I'm going to post photos shortly. I also just posted a review of Tutto Italia in my dining report and I got a vegetarian pasta there that was really good. Raglan Road had a really good dish called "Goat's Town" and we also did a dinner at the Plaza and they have a delicious veggie sandwich. Basically I've never had a problem in Disney with finding something vegetarian, so your husband will be fine!

I am researching the same thing for our daughter. Both Boma and Wolf Gang Puck cafe had more than a few options (though she will eat fish). You can take a look at the menus on Allears.:)

For CS, you can't beat Epcot-Sunshine Seasons.

TS you can go to almost any! At Table Service meals they are VERY accommodating and will bring out the chef or make you something special at your request. Our next trip I have scheduled for 1 a day so that I'm sure I get at least 1 good meal a day, I can deal with having slim choices at Counter Service the rest of the day.

I loved Boma & Tusker House, lots of choices for a vegetarian or vegan. :)

You can get off-menu vegetarian dishes at any restaurant, just ask you server. Disney goes out of their way to meet dietary restrictions.

I'm not a vegetarian but try to eat a lot of vegetables. The two places I think offer the most variety of vegetarian dishes are BOMA and Tusker House.

Yay for another Clevelander!! I just wanted to say while most any restaurant (not WDW) you go to can accommodate your veggie needs, Disney goes above and beyond. When I'm at home I always end up with the same things, but I've never had a repeat vegetarian meal at WDW! Even if something isn't on the menu (Ohana) they can definitely whip up something delish!

Here's a photo of the vegetarian entree I just had at Ohana on 3/20. It's stirfried tofu and veggies with white rice. Deeeeeelish!

With table service, you can have the CM note on your ADR that he is vegetarian, and you should have no problems. Each TS place has something (maybe not what he will like...) available even if you do not do this. The biggest issue/most planning will be counter service. There are lots of veggie burgers, noodles with marinara, and pizza, I guess it just depends on what he likes to eat. Just find one place he likes in each of the parks and you should be pretty set.

We were successful dining with a vegan family of 4, so this should be pretty easy, as long as he likes the options available. Everyone's tastes are different, it is so hard to tell!

We only ate at two of the parks:

Magic Kingdom: Does he like the veggie burger? If so, we liked Cosmic Rays, lots of options for non-veg folks and we still got "burgers and fries". My kids live for those rare occasions where they get fries!

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons had a great selection. Can't wait to go back. We had Sushi & Hummus wraps from the "Grab and Go" section. They have lots to choose from.

Boma, Tusker House and The Wave are favorites with our vegan and vegetarian friends! California Grill can do flatbreads and sushi vegetarian. Brown Derby has a curry noodle bowl but it has tofu in it. Columbia Harbor House has veggie chili and the Lighthouse sandwich is veggie but not vegan. Kona Cafe has made special dishes for friends. Boma always makes something special for them!
