Vegas Trip ~ November '09 (It's over, but we had a blast!)

Along with considering Carrot Top for Sunday night, we could also think about Penn and Teller. They have a top rated show that combines magic and comedy. I'd be open to either one.

Cheryl, are you going to take your mom to see The Lion King while you are here? It's playing on Thursday (Thanksgiving) @ 7:30. Just thought that might be a nice way to spend the holiday. (I would have suggested that for Friday night, but it's dark then.)

Add me to WP as well.

Does anyone have the coupon book that you get when you get a player's club card from the family of hotels that the Rio belongs too? I got mine forever ago so it is long expired, but if it's the same as back then, there is a coupon for bogo tickets to Penn and Teller. But I am also thinking that they may be dark on Friday nights too, so it may be a moot point. Sorry to ramble, but I'm too tired to do the research myself right now!

Go ahead and sign me up for dinner at Wolfgang Puck's with you guys.
Will do!

Jane, I know for sure they are dark on Thursdays, and I think Friday too. That's why I was thinking they would be fun for Sunday.

I'll add you to WP now. :thumbsup2

Ruben and I are going out tonight! I cannot wait.

Have fun Beth!
Where are you guys going?

Anyone else in town T-day weekend that you've heard is really good?

We went to see Carrot Top. He was just as funny as I remembered. New material though which was nice.
I think he'd make a great choice for Sunday night if anyone is interested. His humor is a little crude at times, but I'm not easily offended and was laughing my butt off. :lmao:

Also, remember how some of you wanted to see The Price is Right but it's dark on Sundays? Well, I just saw that they have a Friday night show at 7:30.
That would work out for those of you who don't want to go to Chippendales. It's almost the same time as the Chippendales show. Then once both shows are over, those wanting to go to Olympic Garden can all meet up, and those not wanting to can play some slots or whatever.

Just some ideas. :)

Some other headliners playing that Friday night are:
Donny and Marie
Barry Manilow
Terry Fator
Gordie Brown
George Wallace
Jay Leno
David Spade
Wayne Brady

And then you have the regular shows like all the Cirque shows, and the magic shows.

I think if you went to see a headliner (like Barry Manilow for example) on Friday night, then see Zumanity on Saturday, and then Carrot Top or Penn and Teller on Sunday, you'd have a good selection of show variety. A headliner, a Cirque and a comedy all in one weekend.

I called to find out if Bette Midler will be playing on Nov. 27 and they said the last date she has scheduled as of now is Nov. 15.
Beyond that they don't know what dates if any she will add.

I am jealous you got to see Carrot Top last night, Beth!
But glad you had a good time. I just love a good comedy show. Nothing makes me feel good like a good long laugh. Anyway, thanks for researching who else is playing. I've seen Barry and Terry Fator (who was really good BTW). I heard Gordie Brown is good. Leno, Spade & Brady are all comedians, no?

Cheryl, I think tomorrow when we are visiting nibbling on popovers we need to narrow it down to a couple of choices and see who else wants to come with us. Ok?

I'd go to Carrot Top on Sunday - sounds like fun! I still have not been to a comedy show yet in Vegas, so it works for me :thumbsup2

That works for me! He is really fun and his show is energetic and up beat. Hopefully his humor isn't too over the top for any of us. I think we are all pretty cool and hip enough to handle it. ;) :rotfl2:

So who else is in for Carrot Top on Sunday night???

I have:
Theresa
Linda
Beth

Who else?? Jane? Marcie? Wendy? Deb? Cheryl? Stacie? Bueller?

The nice thing about his show too is that it's fairly early. Starts at 8:30 so we can still do something fun afterward.

I haven't put my vacation request for that Monday yet but I will this week. I'm definitely up for Carrot Top. I don't think he will offend me.And it ends early so still mingle and drink time lol. Where is Carrot top playing?

Ok Marcie, I'll add you for Carrot Top.
He plays at the Luxor. It's a nice theater, on the small side which is good so even the back seats have a decent view. :thumbsup2

I had not planned to--I think seeing Zumanity and Carrot Top (see below) plus whatever we do Fri. night will be more than enough for her.

Believe it or not, my Mom has a bawdier sense of humor than I do! So we're up for that. And we will probably go back to the hotel as soon as it is over since we're driving back the next morning.

Yay - we like bawdy senses of humor :thumbsup2

Okay so somebody humor me. My kids are back in school and I'm trying to keep my mind off the total silence here in the house......

We've got Carrot Top for Sunday. Yay. :cool1: I think that's a good, funny group show.

It starts at 8:30. Now my question is, are we going to do a group meal? I'd like to try, if anyone else is interested that is. We probably won't all do the same things during the day so group dinners are a nice way to reconnect. We all gotta eat right?

Anyway, IF anyone else is interested, I thought going to someplace close to the show would be easiest. Here are some nearby choices: (remember there is a tram that connects Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, so these 3 hotels are easy to go between)

Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay http://www.mandalaybay.com/dining/burgerbar.aspx

House of Blues in Mandalay Bay http://www.mandalaybay.com/dining/houseofblues.aspx

Tacos and Tequila in Luxor http://www.luxor.com/dining/dining_t_and_t.aspx

If any of those sound good to anyone, let me know. Or if anyone has any ideas they'd like to toss out there, let's hear 'em! :)

Whoo hoo. Go Cheryl's mom! ;)

I'll add you both. BTW, what's your mom's name?
Her name is Doris.

Were we going to Dick's at some point? Because maybe it would make sense to do dinner there and then take the tram over to Luxor?

I am NOT a Carrot Top fan, so I will pass on that one, but may join you for dinner that night. I am a huge fan of Burger Bar, so I would throw a vote that direction!
