The Disneyland Hotel Superthread

Question for the experts. Which rooms in the NEW tower have actual useable balconies? I currently have three nights booked in a standard view room in one of the older towers but am open to move IF the room has an actual balcony that we can sit and enjoy. Has anyone stayed in the Deluxe Studio Garden room? Good or bad? Thanks in advance.

This doesn’t really answer your question, and I’m interested to see if anyone else has a similar experience, but we just stayed in the discovery tower for the first time. I’ve stayed in all the other towers in the past as well has PPH and GCH. DLH is my favorite of the three. I loved everything about the new tower, the rooms, the space, everything…EXCEPT the pillows and the bed. Those beds are not the same in that tower. I have never stayed in a Disney hotel and not liked the beds and pillows, the bed we had was so uncomfortable. Even my husband commented on it and he can sleep standing. I am wondering if anyone else has had this same experience? Or was it just us and our room? Based on beds alone, I would not recommend the discovery tower. I’ll go back to staying in the older ones. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you enjoy the beds at the other towers and like I said, maybe it was just us but given our experience, I can’t recommend it.

You must have had one of the rooms with the pull down/murphy beds. We had one of those in the one bedroom Riviera resort at WDW and those pull down beds were horrible. Hard as a rock. Never again. As it stands, we will keep out current room in one of the older towers.

We personally very much dislike the Discovery Tower, but we liked the Duo Studio Garden we stayed in. A standard view studio in the tower will not have a balcony, but the garden rooms have nice sized balconies. Our balcony was the same size as the duo studio 🙃

If you don't want a duo studio with only a murphy bed then your only option at VDH are the 4 Garden Studios for a studio with a balcony. Otherwise you will have to go 1BR or above.

For standard view hotel rooms I believe Frontier Tower has rooms with balconies in that category facing the Simba Lot. Your other choices would be the Fantasy Tower (with a fireworks view on the higher floors) or floors 2-6 in the Adventure Tower facing DTD that are mostly blocked by trees.

As others have said, the Discovery Tower has balconies in some of the duo studios, the villas (1, 2, 3 bedroom villa), and the garden studios. I have stayed in both a 1 bedroom villa and a deluxe studio (no balcony). The garden studio is the same layout of the deluxe villas...and based on that I would caution on booking the room. Albeit, our main issues were with the bed size. They claim it is a queen, but I had just stayed at GCH a few months prior, and the studio at VDH felt more like a full size mattress. What's worse, is something was wrong with our Murphy bed...it made SO much noise. I tried lowering it to sleep one night since sharing the main "queen" with DH just wasn't working. It was so noisy, it ended up waking DH (from just turning lightly a few times). Mind you, something WAS wrong with our Murphy since the next day, the front panel randomly fell off (we called maintenance to fix it). It was a bit shocking to me that new furniture was failing so badly already. It kind of made me question the overall quality of the DVC tower rooms in general. I also love balconies, but if staying at DLH again, I'd opt for the hotel side towers.

ETA: I forgot to mention the 1 bedroom villa was great, although very expensive (we were celebrating an anniversary). Also we stayed in the 1 bedroom about a year before the studio, so it was very fresh and new.
